We have nothing but rave reviews for 5120 Restaurant as our wedding venue. We had approximately 75 guests attend our wedding.
1- The venue photographed beautifully, and the dramatic indoor waterfall/fountain really made for a memorable event
2- The venue's event coordinator (Jen) was very helpful and approachable during the planning process.
3- We ended up serving hors d'ouvres, dinner, and a late-night snack during our reception. All of the food was amazing, and we got a lot of positive comments from our guests (unfortunately, I did not get to sample any of the hors d'ouvres or late-night snacks ;) ).
The venue even let us build a meat tray, per my husband's request, and it turned out great even though it is not on the menu.
4- Wait staff and bar tending services were all great.
5- We were very happy with the services we received and thought that the prices were substantially lower than what other venues charge for weddings.
All in all, we are very happy with 5120 Restaurant as our wedding venue and would definitely recommend them to any cost-conscious couples hosting a smaller wedding.
Everything about this venue is Beautiful. I am overly joyed that we picked this place to have our wedding. We got so many compliments. The staff is also extremly helpful and will go out of their way to make this the best day of your life. Would recommend this place to all.
We had a small wedding. While this place could accommodate for more it was perfect for our 25 people. The staff is amazing. The food was spectacular! Everyone raved about it. The salmon was first choice for food. The venue was beautiful. We had our ceremony and our reception here. Everything ran very smoothly. Highly recommended!
Working with Jennifer was fantastic! She worked with my budget, there were no surprise costs at the end of the night, communication was awesome, and the place looked beautiful for dinner! Food was great too! We had about 70 guests for dinner which was a good number for the venue (it can seat 80 for a plated dinner but I think that could be a bit crowded). Everything went great and for a bride on a budget I couldn't have been happier! For those who are wondering, I paid between 2-3,000 for everything.
My wedding was absolutly amazing!! The venue speaks for itself the moment you walk in the door. Its beautiful. The staff was amazing and Jennifer was awesome to work with. She made sure everything was top notch and going smoothly. I didn't have to worry about a thing. All of my guests were amazed that a place like this even existed here in MN! Not a thing went wrong on my wedding day. I would reccommend 5120 to anyone who is getting married!! Thank you 5120 and Jennifer for making my wedding a truly memorable occassion :)
We booked our rehearsal dinner at the 5120 months before our event. My fiance and his father went in and paid the deposit and that was that.
2 weeks before our event I started to think that they might want to get our headcount and our menu option (gold, silver, or bronze plated dinners). When we called, there was no answer, and no voicemail. Therefore, my fiance Emailed our headcount and menu choice to the Event Planner, Jen. A few days went by with no response, we kept calling, and no voicemail. I was afraid the venue had closed altogether! We are a week before the event now! Finally, when we called the line was being answered. However, we had to call SEVERAL times in the same night just get a hold of Jen when she was in the building.
When my fiance finally spoke with her she said that they also needed to find out what entree each of our guests wants to order off the menu and they wanted a seating chart. She would be sending a floor plan to him. The floor plan was a bunch of 8 top rounds. The whole time i'm thinking, why did we have to chase Jen down when she needed all of this information!? Why didn't she at least respond to his Email?! I'm also trying to plan my actual wedding here! I also found it odd that we had to make a seating chart, that the floor plan was for 8 tops, and that we had to get our guests orders; so I called Jen.
Jen could not have been any ruder! I have NEVER been treated like that by someone in the hospitality industry before. I told her my concerns, turns out we didn't NEED to get the menu choices, and there are other floor plans available. Would have been nice if she told us that! When I asked why we had to chase her down to give her this required info, she said that we Emailed her and that's all they needed (except for the other info she asked us for when we finally spoke with her...) Also, she didn't know her phone was down and that's not her fault. Also, they are super busy right now, she has been doing this for 6 years and she thinks she is very good at her job. She is sorry if we feel like she forgot about us....which I thinks he literally did! She called me "sweetie" in her snotty tone, and proceeded to say that brides think they know about even planning just because they plan one wedding. I'm actually in event planning. She then went on to question my credibility as an Event Planner and grilled me on how I would have done her job differently.
I understand that mistakes happen, and she most likely forgot about us. But she should have owned up to this; been kind, pleasant, and understanding for causing the extra stress to us the week of our wedding by being unavailable and unresponsive. And having us chase down what people want to order, and make a seating chart when it wasn't even necessary. Instead, she was rude and defensive and we were not offered any restitutions.
Oh and she didn't want me to write this review until after our event hoping they could still make the night special for us. She didn't even introduce herself to me or acknowledge me. The food was good, it's a beautiful space. But Jen is awful. Maybe she gives more attention to weddings they host, I guess that's where the real money is.
We held our wedding at the 5120 Onyx Bar May 2012. We had the most amazing time along with our guests. We had approximately 100 for a sit down dinner and dance. The space provided a very intimate and romantic atmosphere. Jen the Catering Coordinator was amazing to work with, she was very accommodating and worked with us to ensure our day was exactly what we wanted. The food was absolutely wonderful and beautifully presented. It is the perfect setting for a wedding reception, I highly recommend this place.
This was our reception site, somehow ended up as a rehearsal dinner category. We had the maximum number of people here, 120, for our wedding reception. First off, the space is absolutely gorgeous with the marble floors, fireplaces, waterfall, etc. Also, we loved that there were separate areas for people to congregate after dinner, so if you didn't want to be where the music was you could go to the bar. Second, Jen, the coordinator, was so helpful. She catered to every we need we had and was very flexible as far as decorations, etc. Third, there are minimal extra costs and fees here, plus the chairs are so nice you don't have to worry about renting chair covers. Lastly, the food was so delicious. People are still talking about the butternut squash ravioli. The price for what you get here is unbelievable. The only two issues we had were with our room block at the hotel where the restaurant is located (which Jen helped us with) and that our cake was cut in too big of pieces and my groom and I almost didn't get any as we were served last, which was just simply a mistake. I would recommend considering having a room block at one of the other nearby hotels if having a wedding here, the rest of the staff at the hotel is just not up to par with the restaurant and they tried to overcharge our guests.
We were drawn to the restaurant to have our ceremony and reception for a number of reasons. It was in a hotel so our out of town guests would not have to travel and the conservatory where everything was to be held was beautiful! The three chandeliers, two fireplaces, heated marble floors, water fountain, and lighting made the event very beautiful! The food was amazing and received a ton of compliments. The bar area was recently renovated and does lose some privacy because people staying the hotel can walk by and see there is a wedding. We did not have any problems with unwanted hotel guests though.
The price for the space is the lowest I could find in the twin cities, and it's beautiful - I definitely recommend it. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was! I only have a few quibbles with the service. I.e., people began to leave and my cousins and aunts took down the centerpieces, and the staff began to break down the room instead of asking myself (bride) or the groom if they should begin breaking down the tables and re-setting the space. We had the space until midnight, and this was about 9:00 pm. It's understandable that they would think we were winding down, but there were still a ton of people in the reception, and they felt like they were being kicked out. Since we had the space until midnight, there was no need to re-set the space until everyone had left, or at least get our go ahead.
The hotel itself "lost" our reservation for the honeymoon suite, but they made it right with not too much hassle.
All in all, it was a great value and the food was excellent. The space was gorgeous and I would recommend it to anyone in the twin cities area.
