I started planning for our St. Louis September 2012 wedding nearly a year ahead of the date. One of the most daunting tasks I faced was trying to vet or hire vendors from our home in Phoenix. Then, by the grace of god, I found Abbie, and out of some planetary alignment she was not booked for our date. I was a little apprehensive to hire someone from so far away without seeing their body of work, but Abbie arranged a Skype meeting and was willing to let one of my bridesmaids swing by for the meeting. The three of us skyped for a long time until all of my questions were answered. After the meeting I felt like I could trust Abbie, and my bridesmaid loved her photos and style (she wanted to hire Abbie to photograph her newborn). That was enough endorsement for me!
Abbie and I stayed in touch during the entire duration of my engagement, and we didn't meet until 7 months after my husband and I signed the contract! We were blown away by Abbie's flexibility, candor, and eye for beautiful photos. She listened to what I wanted and didn't want, and wanted to know a general feel for what we had planned. I ended up hiring 2 other vendors based on Abbie's recommendation. She NEVER steered us wrong. She helped with our day -of timeline, and was essential in booking our hair and make-up.
Our excitement with Abbie only increased after we took our engagement photos. We LOVED the experience and the idea of getting comfortable taking photos before the big day. She gave us all kinds of tips for taking good photos (if it feels uncomfortable, it looks fabulous). We received numerous compliments about our engagement photos. They really captured our personalities.
On the day of the wedding, Abbie contacted me from the start of the day, kept me in the loop, and even helped corral the other vendors. She was just amazing and helped tremendously. It was an outdoor wedding, and while I was brimming with anxiety and worry, Abbie's humor and willingness to do what it took to get the job done just re-instilled my trust in her. She bent over backwards to make sure I was happy and to make sure that my special day was captured.
I just love Abbie to bits and pieces. My review is entitled life saver, because I truly do not know how I lucked out to have booked her for our wedding. She was so open to communication, ALWAYS returned my questions within a day or two.
The last plug I will say is that Abbie did the incredible. My grandmother was diagnosed with a congestive heart failure. Abbie had met my grandmother at the ceremony and upon hearing the diagnosis, bent over backwards (yet again) to rush a few photos to my Grandmother for her birthday.
Everyone at our reception got to know Abbie and she was treated just like one of the gang by the end. I just can't say enough about how lucky I feel to have her as a photographer, and now as a friend. Thank you Abbie!

Abbie and her team is fantastic. Since the first day we met with her, we knew that she had our backs regardless of the situation. She's a very take-charge person that instinctively knows what her brides want and how to make that happen for them. Abbie did our engagement pictures and spent the entire day with us the day of our wedding. She takes time to help plan out the day, ensuring that we did everything possible to not miss those "wish-we-would-have" pictures. Her thoroughness is what every small business needs, and it just so happens that it's for the most important business transaction ever -- your wedding day, the most important day ever! She has such a great personality, loves to laugh, and truly enjoys life. Abbie brings such a calm and joy to the photo shoot, does fantastic with direction during the shoot, and has an eye for light, colors, and focus. Her unique flavor makes the photography interesting, leaving the pictures telling a story for the rest of your life. I cannot express how much I enjoyed Abbie being a part of our day and helping us capture the joy, love, and laughter of our wedding.

When I first started planning my wedding, I knew that finding a photographer was the most important task - someone that could reflect my day exactly the way I wanted. I spent months looking for just the right person, and when I left the consultation with Abbie, I knew I had found just that. Abbie went above and beyond what I could ever have wanted or even knew I needed. She helped me make a detailed timeline of the wedding day, something that I was having a hard time doing on my own. She booked a makeup artist for me when I couldn't find one in my price range. We had planned to take wedding party portraits in one location, but found out the morning of the wedding that it wasn't available. Abbie and Tyler easily came up with a backup location, and in my opinion, it was even better than where we were originally planning to go.
My favorite thing though...throughout my search for a photographer, my mother could not understand why I was making such a big deal out of this one particular aspect of my wedding. No matter what way I tried to explain it, she didn't get it. She didn't understand why it cost so much and didn't think I would look at the pictures after that day anyone because "nobody looks at their wedding albums anyway." Well...once I got the HUNDREDS of beautiful, perfect images back from Abbie, I asked her if she understood now, why I picked Abbie, and what photography meant to me, she said she did, she completely did.
Last thing I'm going to say about how much I love Abbie Takes Pictures? My husband and I, and many of our friends HATE having our photos taken. Everything about it. Abbie made us feel like we were just doing our own thing...we forgot she was taking pictures at all. For introverts like us, this meant, and still means, everything.
I feel like I've made a new friend, in the best way possible! Thank you, Abbie.

Abbie was our knight in shining armor on our wedding day. Not only did she do a great job with our engagement pictures (haven't gotten our wedding pictures yet but I know they will be wonderful!!), she was more than a photographer on our wedding day.
Two of our main vendors (DJ/Design and reception venue) were lacking in many different ways. When staff at our reception venue became rude to not only her, but to me, my husband, family and guests, she stepped in and helped manage issues that came up. She fiercely defended us and took stress off of me so I could attempt to enjoy our wedding day.
Abbie has been honest, helpful, and professional throughout this whole process. I truly enjoy how she tells stories with her camera. She takes the time to personally get to know you and know what you want for your pictures and your day.
Finding a photographer that my husband could feel comfortable with (he doesn't really enjoy having his picture taken) was extremely important. Abbie made him laugh and got him to be himself in front of the camera. No stiff pictures here!
Bottom line, she is worth every penny you spend on her. For the quality of service and work you get, she is very reasonably priced. We will continue to use Abbie for other events. Clients for life!

We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end with Abbie Takes Pictures. We did both our engagement and wedding pictures through her. She was so tentative and responsive to everything. And most importantly, our photos weren't "cookie cutter" like the ones our friends have had. Abbie was totally in tune with the vision we had and the photos were so unique. Her whole team was a blast and really made our day memmorable.
