I went to vows having watched I found a gown on tlc, and I was relieved to know that I wouldn't have to be on tv, and I was thrilled with my experience there. I had made an appointment, and I was allowed to browse the dresses with my parents and pick out which ones I wanted to try on. They had dresses organized by size and general shape, like sheath or a-line. This was the only store where I was really given the freedom to look at the dresses and pull them out myself, and I loved it. The dresses all had a tag with the price, which I also loved, you could know whether or not it was safe to look at it. I worked with Alison, and she let me need her to the extent that I needed, she didn't require that she help me change which I really appreciated. In he end I found the perfect dress, which they cleaned, and fixed the zipper for free before shipping it to me since I don't live in Massachusetts.
I am pleased with my wedding dress from Vows, it was from their orderable collection. The dress was just perfect. They are the only place that I was able to find this dress, i even went to 3 boutiques in NYC, including Kleinfelds, and they didnt help me find it.
I went in to Vows with a budget of $2,000. When trying on dresses, I didn't want to know any prices and have it weigh on my decision to buy a dress or not. I finally found the one and it ended up being $499.00! I couldn't believe it. A wedding dress for less than $500?? Crazy but so worth it. It was really busy when I went and TLC was there filming so that was exciting. They have a big selection so I definitely recommend checking it out!
I was 3 months pregnant with twins and scared about finding a dress that would fit my body when my babies would be 4-5 months old. My friends and the store associate gave me the right advice and we found a dress that worked perfectly, especially considering that I didn't know what my body would look like. We tried on numerous gowns and found the perfect one in just one stop.
I saw them on "I Found the Gown" and knew this was the place I was going to find my wedding gown. Alison was amazing and knew from 2 pictures I showed her of completely different dresses exactly what I was looking for. I bought the dress she pulled for me (it was everything I ever wanted, but would never have known until I saw it) even though me, my mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and 2 best friends had filled the fitting room with gorgeous gowns. Had such a wonderful and special experience!
When I got engaged I didn't know what kind of dress I wanted or where I wanted to go. My mother's friend who has three married daughters kept telling us to go to Vow's. She said I would definitely find my dress there. I'm not a huge fan of shopping and trying on clothes, so I figured if I could "definitely" find my dress at one store, I would go there.
Sure enough, I made an appt at Vow's and found the dress during my visit. We worked with Malinda who was so great and accommodating with my entourage (2 sisters, 2 aunts, bff, mom, and grandma). She let me try on various styles since I didn't really know what I wanted. She was taking mental notes of what I liked and didn't like, and started narrowing down to help me out. She later pulled *my* dress, something I didn't even know I wanted until I tried it on and knew right away it was the one. I said "yes" and before you knew it, I was walking out of the store, $800 under my budget with a smile on my face.
Vows was the first and only bridal shop I went to and walked out with my dress the same day. Since it is a bridal outlet, most dresses are at least 50% off and the selection changes constantly.
Gabrielle was my consultant and she was outstanding. As busy as it was in the store, she made me feel like I was the only bride there trying on dresses. The first 5 dresses you try on are dresses that you choose from the racks, from there the consultant chooses dresses for you based on your feedback. Gabrielle listened to every small detail I was commenting on and was able to find my perfect dress. I tried on about 12 dresses, and the one I chose was the last one I tried on. My appointment was only supposed to be an hour long, but ran overtime based on my indecisiveness. Gabrielle did not hurry me a long and allowed my mom and I to discuss privately our options. After choosing the dress I wanted, Gabrielle was able to show me what I could do to the dress to alter it exactly the way I wanted it to look. I ended up changing the neckline, train and adding an embellishment to my dress.
It is busy at Vows, especially because it is featured on TLC's I Found a Gown, but it is completely worth fighting the crowds to find your dress at a discount.
Vows has a great selection of gowns off the rack, as well as ones that you can order if you have enough time. I went shopping just a few months before my wedding so I had to buy off the rack. I didn't notice until later that some of the beadwork was loose, but it wasn't a huge problem. Make sure you go with 3 people max, and your appointment lasts for an hour.
Super helpful and great selection. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on-- and it was $500 under my budget. Loved Vows- I recommend it to everyone.
VOWS is not for everyone. Here's how it works: they have designer wedding gowns just like any high-end boutique. The difference is, they carry samples and overstocks. So if you find a dress you like, you buy it and leave with it. This means that finding a dress is totally dependent on whether they have a dress in your size (or close enough for alterations). This is different from a typical boutique where you find a dress and then they order it in your size.
I went into the store not knowing what I wanted AT ALL. I was paired with a bridal consultant, and we started with my mother and me pulling a few dresses off the racks to try on. I was trying on many different styles. But with each one, my bridal consultant listened to what I liked and disliked, and after a few dresses, she started bringing me additional dresses to try on. I could tell that she had really listened to what I was saying, because the second dress that she brought me was perfect. I paid 50% of what I would have paid at a typical boutique.
VOWS refers their clients to a seamstress down the street for alterations. It is not mandatory, they just recommend her. Her name is Anahit. I was a little wary based on the online reviews-- people seemed to either love her or hate her. I loved her. She has a strong personality-- she will tell you pretty plainly what her opinions are-- but that worked for me. She did an AMAZING job on my alterations-- the dress fit me perfectly and I could not have been happier.
I traveled from Long Island to Watertown simply for Vows. My consultant was Leslie. She was phenomenal!! From the moment I walked into the doors, to the moment I left, the Vows staff was nothing short of incredible. Anyone who is getting married must go find their gown with Leslie and company. My entire experience was amazing and I'm happy to say I FOUND MY GOWN! Thank you Leslie for everything. I truly appreciate all of your patience, kind words you helped me find a gown I didn't even know I was looking for and it's perfect!
Anyone looking for wonderful salesmanship and gorgeous dresses on a budget should absolutely go to Vows!
Not your typical bridal shop. If you are looking for a deal, this is the place to go! Make sure you are open minded and not looking for something specific. Never know what you will uncover here.
I found the dress of my dreams at Vows at a wonderful price so I was ecstatic, however the level of service I expected did not meet what we received. The prices of alterations were outrageous and getting anyone to call you back was a challenge. Overall I was thrilled with my dress...
I had been to several other bridal stores before I happened to come to vows while in town for another wedding. Overall, the experience was great, and I found the dress. The only part that I would have insisted on in hindsight is actually taking my measurements since the dress I found was orderable (not as is). It turned out fine, and I'm happy with the purchase, but that's the reason for a 4.
I can't say a bad thing about Vows because I found my dream gown. I wasn't expecting to find the perfect dress there, especially not the one I had shown everyone that I wanted. I had a winter wedding and they had my perfect dress, you can't ask for much more than that!
I wish I could remember the name of the girl who helped me try on dresses here because she was really fantastic (hint: she was on the show I found the gown!) This was the first place I went to try on dresses and the third dress ended up being THE ONE. It was exciting and she was able to help me make a my final decision- which was also influenced by the awesome prices! In the end, I couldn't leave knowing someone else could have my dress. I also looked at another high end bridal salon and they were snotty and their selection was terrible. So make Vows your first stop!
I loved Vows! This was the only place that it was clear these woman were NOT working on commission. They had a great selection of dresses and they were so affordable. I actually saw the same dress at another location for $1,200 more. Vows made it possible for me to purchase two amazing dressed because I had trouble deciding ;)
Just the experience I was looking for, I didn't feel pressured and I liked that I could browse through and pick dresses that were within my price range.
My sister lives in the area and so every time I would leave her house, I would drive past the beautiful displays at Vows, dreaming of the day that I would be able to walk in and buy my very own fairy tale wedding dress. Low and behold that day finally came last February! I made an appointment with my bridesmaids and did my research...game on! I was ready to go! When I walked in, I was greeted by Geraldine, who was going to assist us. I described to her the dress that I had in mind and was able to promptly find it! In addition to this dress, she made some other suggestions. In the end, I wound up purchasing the first dress that I tried on! My wedding day wound up being amazing and the tone set all because of the ease of this experience. The only recommendation I would make is to use an alternative tailor. I did and from what I understand, the one the shop uses usually charges about double what you would find elsewhere.
The staff are very helpful and the discounted gowns are amazing! Great experience overall! If I could do it all again, I would definitely go back to Vows!
