There is no denying Dwight is an exceptionally talented musician as well as an amazing person to work with. Dwight recently performed during the ceremony and cocktail hour at our June 22nd wedding in Waterville Valley, NH and it could not have been more perfect. Leading up to the wedding Dwight and I frequently communicated over email and he even took some time on a Saturday morning to meet me and my now husband to plan everything out. During that meeting he really got to know us as we talked about everything from our work to hobbies and of course our ideas for music. Then came the big day. In our meeting we decided that he would sing the song I walked down the aisle to. It could not have been more romantic. My only regret is that I could not be at the cocktail hour to hear him play as we were off doing the whole picture thing. What made it worse is that all of my guests loved him and his guitar. At the end of the day, you may find musicians that charge less, but let me tell you I would have paid Dwight double his asking price after working with him. He is a true professional in both the wedding and music industry. I will definitely be looking for an excuse to work with him. Probably not another wedding (for me personally), but an anniversary party perhaps. :)
Dwight was amazing - he fulfilled every request with ease and kindness. We made some last minute changes - the day of the wedding - Dwight was great! He was punctual and had everything set up. Our wedding was a destination from Florida to Camden, ME. Everything was site unseen and involved several conversations over the phone. Dwight made the whole process easy for us!
I would suggest Dwight to every bride.
Thank you Dwight for making our day so special!

We recently got married in York Harbor, ME and had a beautiful outdoor ocean-side ceremony. We hired Dwight to play during our ceremony and cocktail hour, and it was the best decision we could have made. Everyone was SO impressed with his skills! From day one, Dwight was so enthusiastic to work with us and just really supportive and positive throughout the entire wedding planning process. We could not have asked for a kinder, easier vendor to work with. As a couple, and a guitar player myself, the music was one of the most important aspects of our wedding day, and Dwight definitely nailed it. He worked with us to make our ceremony and cocktail hour music personal to our style, and even learned to play a couple new songs for us (one for our recessional and one for the cocktail hour)! We would highly recommend him to anyone, without hesitation!
We hired Dwight to be our ceremony musician and he did a wonderful job! We wanted something simple and classic and he was the perfect fit! He even learned a new song to play just for our processional and it was amazing. Dwight was very easy to work with, friendly, helpful, and affordable! Highly recommend him for weddings of all kinds!!
Dwight is an extremely talented musician, but that is just the beginning of his value to any prospective bride and groom. We had Dwight play the ceremony and the cocktail hour of our big day. He sounded equally as great with the ceremony's classical arrangements as he did with the more contemporary hits during the cocktail hour. Dwight is a consummate professional, and was a pleasure to work with throughout all the pre-wedding coordination. He was responsive to requests, proactive with coordinating details, and just a joy to work with. I could go on and on, but quite simply, there's a million details to coordinate come wedding day, and with Dwight there's one less thing to worry about.
Dwight was exactly what I was looking for in a ceremony and cocktail hour musician. He played beautifully and was extremely responsive to all of my requests. I had a band, but I would also recommend Dwight as an alternative to a DJ for brides going that route. Thanks, Dwight!
Having Dwight play our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour was an incredible success. Not only is Dwight a talented musician - he also was a great personality for our event... unobtrusive but upbeat his enthusiasm is infectious and he made the whole event fun. Best of all he was able to take requests during the cocktail hour which delighted the guests... and was able to learn new music just for our ceremony. Dwight provided microphones for our ceremony (for both him and our officiant) as well as the amplification for the cocktail hour as an added bonus. Overall Dwight was great to work with and we cannot recommend him highly enough.
I recently got married in Bar Harbor Maine and Dwight was our musician. Dwight was persistent in getting back to me with all the questions I had, and he was extremely professional in all aspects. He was a delight to communicate with, and he made me feel very much at ease, especially since I was putting together a wedding from another state. Dwight's musical skills both singing and instrumental are wonderful, and I would recommend him to anyone who is in need of hiring a musician for their wedding in the surrounding areas. He was a great choice that helped make my wedding day a complete success!
Thanks so much Dwight!
Dwight was the ceremony musician for my Mount Washington Hotel wedding this past summer. It was a pleasure to work with him. Dwight was always accessible by email and phone, and he took the time to listen it what I wanted and also give valuable suggestions - which was really helpful to a bride like me! He even offered his sound system to our justice of the peace. Dwight's advice was helpful as I tried to go for a personalized but still classic wedding sort of vibe.
Dwight did a fantastic rendition of Pachebel's cannon in D and I Can't Help Fallin' in Love With You for the processional and All You Need is Love for the recessional. Not only can he play the guitar - he can sing! Dwight arrived early to play for guests before the ceremony, and took the liberty of staying late when many of the guests decided to stick around the ceremony site after the bridal party had left. The guests were thrilled with his music choices before and after the ceremony.
My only regret is that after speaking with Dwight and enjoying his wonderful music, I didn't get a chance to thank him in person on the wedding day! My highest recommendation.
Dwight was a pleasure to work with from day one. He gave us guidance and understood the feeling we were hoping to achieve for the ceremony. Dwight took a request to learn a new song for us and he performed it at our ceremony closing - it was as beautiful as I imagined. It was the perfect end to a wonderful ceremony.
I found Dwight on theknot.com a while back when I started the wedding planning process. He was very quick to respond to my initial e-mail and was extremely friendly and willing to help us with our wedding ceremony. He made an extra effort to meet with my husband and I (for pizza!) to discuss the ceremony, the music and other details that WE didn't even think of. He was very kind and talkative, getting to know us as a couple and really showed that he cared about his role in our wedding. I had a special request that he collaborate with my cousin's wife for a song during the ceremony. They connected before the wedding via email/phone and met before the ceremony to practice. I had goosebumps when she started singing and he started playing the guitar. It was simply beautiful. I absolutely love the sound of the guitar and it was very fitting for our wedding. He helped our officiant get set up with a microphone beforehand and I didn't worry one bit about anything, because I knew he had it all under control. After the ceremony, he played for our cocktail hour and we received so many compliments about the music. I highly recommend Dwight for a wedding or any other function. He was a pleasure to work with and he played a big part in making our day so special. If you want to be worry free and know you're in good hands, you should work with Dwight. We highly recommend him and we are so grateful he was able to share his talent with us on our wedding day!
My husband and I got married in late April and had the privilege and honor of having Dwight as our ceremony musician. Our ceremony took place in a beautiful chapel and I wanted to walk down the aisle to a simple instrumental solo guitar version of the intro part of the song called "Edie (Ciao Baby)" by The Cult. Now...please don't judge based on the name of the group. :) The intro to that song is really beautiful (especially when it's stripped down to a solo guitar) and as Dwight pointed out, not only does it have a lot of classical elements to it, but it also fit perfectly with the look and feel of this chapel. When researching musicians, I was a little scared to tell them of my idea because I thought they might think I'm crazy based on the name of the group, but when I contacted Dwight, we both had a good chuckle about it and I thought to myself that not only does he have a great sense of humor and goes with the flow, but he was also so opened-minded and said he would be happy to "learn" the intro part of that song for us! Wow...talk about dedication!!! We hit it off instantly and got to know Dwight in the weeks that followed and absolutely loved working with him! He is so incredibly talented and gifted and he is professional, reliable and welcomes ideas and loves to collaborate. He also has a beautiful voice. So much so that he sang "One Love" by Bob Marley for our recessional (along with his guitar) and it was beautiful! I should also note that Dwight's rates are extremely reasonable and he is very prompt to respond, should you have any questions. In a nutshell, whether you would like a traditional wedding and would like classic music to play during your ceremony, or if you're like me and would like to go the more non-traditional route, Dwight knows it all and if he doesn't know it, he'll learn it! Finally, I'm happy to report that Dwight has added "Edie (Ciao Baby)" to his website. It truly has a beautiful intro and he wanted to share it with others and I love that! Dwight is simply amazing. I strongly encourage future brides to contact him because I promise you, you won't be disappointed! Booking Dwight for our wedding was the best decision we made and our guests still rave about how beautiful the music was at our ceremony. Thanks, Dwight!
Dwight did our ceremony music on 5/17/14. He agreed to perform at our wedding last minute when we decided we wanted live music. He was great and super responsive. We met with him shortly before the wedding and we felt very comfortable with him. He was very helpful in selecting music that would flow together. The day of the wedding I received many compliments on his music and we both really enjoyed the feel of the guitar versus music played over a stereo. Dwight was great to work with, very flexible, friendly and professional! We would recommend him to anyone!
Dwight is very accomdating and professional!!!
My husband and I were a few weeks out from our wedding when we decided to
take our plan for music in the ceremony in a different direction.
Time was of the essence and after a short hunt, we found Dwight. Boy
was he up for the task! He was very responsive, professional, and most
of all encouraging. We loved the small wedding we had planned and Dwight
made us love it that much more. He seemed almost as excited as we were!
The ceremony was at the Rockland Breakwater Light, and Dwight lugged a
couple battery powered amps/speakers out a mile long breakwater to play
for our guests as they arrived, during the ceremony, and during a
champagne hour at lighthouse following the wedding.
After chatting with us for only a short time Dwight was able to put
together a killer setlist that most, if not all, of our guests praised.
Dwight's commitment to his craft is evident and I would highly recommend
him to anyone planning their wedding.
I have absolutely only 100% positive things to say about Dwight. He is personable, professional, and prompt with responses. Moreover, he is genuinely enthusiastic and passionate about playing music for your big day and invests himself 100% in making your vision come true. We worked with Dwight long-distance to plan a wedding in NH, at an outdoor tented lake-side ceremony. We hired him for the ceremony and cocktail hour. We had to move indoors at the last moment due to rain, so he ended up playing for the ceremony as well as for the receiving line in the church afterwards. He played all instrumental pieces and did a beautiful job. We got numerous compliments on his playing and he timed everything beautifully. We actually didn't have a wedding or ceremony coordinator, but with Dwight's help and his attendance at our rehearsal, we were able to plan and time everything out on our own. He was one of our favorite vendors to work with. Great guy and talented. It was a great decision to hire him for our wedding! Thanks Dwight!
Dwight was truly a fabulous addition to our wedding. After going out to see him play at a cafe one night, we knew he was going to be a right match to set a comfortable, pleasant mood at our wedding. Dwight was fabulous to plan with, offered great suggestions in a way that was extremely helpful and never pushy.
Dwight played during our ceremony, and had the timing and order of events nailed down more than our JP :) We were honestly telling people that if they had a question, to ask our guitarist as he knew what was going on. The music was beautiful - Dwight has a great selection of music off his website, but it almost doesn't do him justice until you hear him in person. Dwight had provided all the microphones and amps necessary to make our lakefront ceremony a success.
Cocktail hour came, and Dwight played a great array of James Taylor-esque songs and sounded great. The people enjoyed it and it was again a great accompaniment without stealing the show or being drowned out.
Dwight kicked off the reception with some classy introductions and manned our playlists for dinner music, again doing a great job. He played acoustic guitar for our first dance songs and sounded absolutely beautiful. He rolled with a few punches throughout the night as plans shifted a bit and was always keeping us well informed and on task along the way.
We couldn't have asked for a better partner to help us with our music, entertainment and planning. Thanks Dwight!
We can not say enough wonderful things about Dwight Phetteplace. We hired Dwight to sing and play acoustic guitar at our daughter's outside wedding in Surry, NH on August 10, 2013. Dwight played his acoustic guitar for the ceremony, then played and sang for both the cocktail hour and the meal. Later on Dwight become our announcer and played the song list from my daughters iPod on his equipment. Dwight has a fine singing voice and his music choice was marvelous as well.
Dwight was so easy to deal with and a nicer person you will not meet! He met with the Bride and Groom early on to go over the logistics and had a few suggestions for them that helped the reception along in planning.
We highly recommend Dwight and would use his services again for any event!

I honestly cannot believe how lucky we were to find Dwight. We discovered Dwight's information on a local Facebook page and have been grateful ever since. Since the first time we contacted him, Dwight was responsive and very helpful and flexible through the wedding planning process. He was accessible for questions when I had clarifications and gave some great tips that reflected his experience. When we ran into some car troubles a few weeks before the wedding that impacted our budget, he was accommodating and flexible and made the stressful issue as anxiety free as possible for us. On the day of our wedding, our guests were coming up to us with nothing but great words to say about Dwight. My cousin's LOVED the music selection he chose for the cocktail hour and had a great time spending the afternoon around Dwight and his guitar! All of the music we selected fit perfectly with the atmosphere of our wedding and Dwight was incredible as a guitarist, support system and wedding guest!
Dwight recently performed at our daughter's wedding ceremony in Bar Harbour Maine.
We were in Bar Harbour selecting the venue, when we decided to peruse several guitarist websites.
We listened to Dwight's many music selections on-line and decided he was the one.
Dwight was a pleasure to work with, prompt, personable and very receptive to our music selections.
He was willing to learn new songs if necessary, contacting us several times prior to the wedding to ensure we were happy with the chosen music.
Our favourite moment was when he sang "MARRY ME" by Train, during the lighting of the unity candle.
He sang the song with such Grace and Love.
The wedding guests commented on his beautiful voice and guitar playing.
We would highly recommend Dwight as a guitarist/singer to any Bride and Groom on their special day.
