I just had my wedding at Hotel Baker on Friday, August 2nd, 2013. I was the only wedding at the hotel that day, so I was lucky enough to have my ceremony outside in the Boat House, cocktail hour on the patio, and reception in the Waterfront Room. I had 55 guests and this was perfect for me. I worked with Cai and Kalyn, and I came to them about 6 months before my first wedding date very overwhelmed because the first wedding I planned had fallen apart. I met with Cai a few times and had very productive meetings. I found her to be very experienced, knowledgable, and she had the best answer for everything. She referred me to wonderful vendors that I was also very pleased with, and this made the rest of the planning go very easily. When it came to the actual wedding day, everything had been planned to the very last detail, but I was still shocked and surprised by how well everything went. All of the vendors did exactly what they had to do, Cai and the Hotel Baker team members ran around all day to make sure everything was perfect. The ceremony was perfect, cocktail hour was wonderful, and the reception was flawless. The food was to die for and everyone gave us so many compliments. I loved hearing about how people were crazy over the bacon wrapped dates appetizer and how they filet mignons were cooked perfectly, and how the bartenders were not stingy with alcohol. The service was friendly, professional, attentive, and fast. Nobody waited long for anything. When my new husband and I went to sit down for dinner after missing cocktail hour because of pictures, there were 2 of each appetizer at our place settings to make sure we didn't miss them. Also, after the reception when Garrett and I went up to the beautiful penthouse suite, Cai had prepared 2 pieces of our wedding cake and chilled milk for us to snack on. So thoughtful! It was all about the details at Hotel Baker, and I could not have been more pleased. I would recommend this venue to anyone!!!! You will not be disappointed.
We thank you for choosing Hotel Baker for your wedding day. We are happy to know that you were pleased with the entire event. Best wishes always!
Respectfully, The Hotel Baker Team
the location, the venue, the service, the food... guest services all spectacular. Working with Cai from day one, we were treated with kindness and confidence. All dreams and concerns were addressed and worked out beautifully!
This place has it down pat. Perfect! Charm, intimacy, excellent service, delicious food, you won't find a better spot. Every detail was executed to our liking. Stellar in every way.
I recently went to a wedding at the baker hotel and had the best time at a reception so far. The amazing multi light color dance floor an the exceptional service made it flawless. We are planning our wedding coming up and can't wait to book the baker hotel so we can have the same experience.
We went to the baker hotel for a wedding an had an absolutely amazing experience. The hotel was clean, beautiful and had amazing historical feel. The hotel staff were nice and helpful.
Hotel Baker - the best wedding I have attended so far. The Rose Garden was stunning - beautiful florals in full bloom and bushes meticulously manicured. The food was delicious - the steak was done to perfection; the chicken dish was moist and superb, to say the least. The Rainbow Room's famous glass-lit floor is simply amazing. Once the bride and groom stepped onto the dance floor, the entire room became a fairy tale to be remembered forever. The staff was attentive and courteous. It was an fun-filled day and night at Hotel Baker!
From the very time we stepped foot in the building we knew this is where we wanted our wedding to be! The hotel is absolutely gorgeous inside and out! More importantly, the staff was friendly and extremely helpful! From our very first meeting with our wedding coordinator, to the day of the event, all of our wants and needs were taken care of. We had our ceremony and reception in the Rainbow Room, due to the weather being bad. The transition was seamless. The food was AMAZING! There were absolutely no hiccups. All of our guests ranted and raved about what a great time they had! I cannot say enough good things about the Hotel Baker! Thank you so much for making my dream wedding come true!!!!
We just can't say "thank you" enough to Hotel Baker for their part in making our daughter's wedding such an memorable day. From beginning to end they were AWESOME!! The service was PERFECT!! The food was GREAT!! The staff was SO friendly and professional!! Honestly, we have no negatives!! The guests who also stayed in the hotel had only favorable comments. What a special day this was!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!
Hotel Baker is fabulous! Our event coordinator was extremely friendly and accessible for all questions throughout our planning process. There were so many different options to choose from for creating a wedding package. She listened to our vision for a vintage theme and the day was exactly what we wanted! The food and service was fabulous! There was another wedding the same day at the The Waterfront restaurant and I couldn't even tell. We were well taken care of. We reserved the Rainbow Room, and it was decorated so beautifully. We also had access to the rose garden for pictures and cocktail hour. The space allows for a romantic and intimate wedding. We had 180 guests. I would suggest this is a good number for the amount of space. Hotel Baker is also located on one of the cutest streets in St. Charles.... We had plenty of amazing picture opportunities and there were plenty of things to do, within walking distance, for our guests in between the ceremony and reception. We conveniently stayed at the hotel that night, as did some of our guests. The accommodations are very nice! Parking was also abundant and close to the hotel. Overall we were very pleased with the entire day! Thank you Hotel Baker for the most memorable wedding! Our guests are still complimenting on how amazing the food was!
This was my dream location and it was amazing to get married there! We did the ceremony outside in the rose garden and it was BEAUTIFUL! The flowers and scene with the water is just breath taking, nothing like it. We also booked our wedding in both the rainbow room & the waterfront room. Both rooms are just stunning! The rainbow room was so amazing with the LARGE light up dance floor and overlooking top balcony seating! The waterfront room has a beautiful look out at the river with beautiful floors, high ceiling. The hotel has so many unique features to it, we fell in love right away! And a boat to take you away after the wedding for pictures! Who can beat that! We also used their trolley for the bridal party and it's so cute and not something you see every day! The place was over all just breath taking. The food was AMAZING! For wedding reception food my expectations where not very high but this is food that you except when you walk into a five star restaurant! My guests ranted and raved about the food, and how beautiful hotel baker was. The rooms for out of town guests are very nice and of course the penthouse for the bride & groom is so cool!! I would recommend Hotel Baker to any bride who wants something more then the average reception hall! And who can beat getting married and having the reception all in the same place! It is a must look and I will always be happy with how beautiful my wedding was!
My daughter Sara, from the time she was 12, always said "When i get married I'd love my reception to be in the Rainbow Room at the Hotel Baker.
Well, she got married on Sept. 21st and while we were dancing the Daddy/Daughter dance, Sara leaned in to me and said, 'Thank you Dad, this is a Dream come true".
What more could a Father hope for.
Thank you to EVERYONE at the Hotel Baker!!
Our daughter's and new son-in-law's wedding reception was perfect in all ways at the beautiful location of Hotel Baker in St. Charles, IL
The Hotel Baker's tradition of elegance and personal service created the most spectacular wedding.
The two tiered Rainbow Room with its beautiful lighted dance floor was the perfect setting for a truly magical evening.
Our wedding consultant helped us with our wedding menu, rehearsal dinner, guest accommodations, valet service, florist, d.j., cakes, set up, etc., etc.
The cuisine was amazing. Not only in taste but in presentation.
Thank you Hotel Baker for a dream wedding!
We hosted our daughter's wedding on August 2nd, 2013 at Hotel Baker. It was a small wedding with only 55 people. We came to Hotel Baker because we wanted the full wedding experience for the smaller group. The first thing is that the food was incredible!!!! So many times you go to a wedding and get average banquet food, not here. The filet's were cooked to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. The Waterfront Room was the perfect size for our group, we had the dance floor in the center of the room and everyone had a great view. The service was perfect and attentive, the food was served quickly and the clean up was very prompt. Lastly, I cannot say enough good things about the planning experience with Cai Vargas. She walked us through the entire planning process and kept me as the MOB calm. Thank you again for all your beautiful work.
We stumbled upon Hotel Baker before we ever set a budget. When we went to check it out we were told a wedding coordinator was on staff and got the grand tour. We instantly fell in love with the original 1926 light up flooring in the Rainbow Room, and overall loved the vintage feel. It was exactly what we wanted; my main regret was not budgeting better because in all honesty it was quite pricy for what we should have spent.
The food was amazing, the wait staff was extremely attentive & not a single person went without. We got married in winter on a Sunday and were able to get their best deal. We were able to receive their cheapest prices, get a 10% discount on food, and were able to pick two incentives out of a list of 5 to add to the wedding. Another perk to the winter wedding was that we also got a complimentary hot chocolate station after dinner. Side note, the light up floor gets extremely hot! It may be worth mentioning to bridal party/guests to bring comfortable footwear because if you don't have shoes on you will definitely feel it!
The reason why I gave the service 4/5 is because of chaos that ensued in the months prior to the wedding. We signed the contract about a year in advance and had written a check for our deposit. It had been a few months & hadn't heard from my wedding coordinator recently. I sent her a few emails over the span of two weeks, curious about figuring out dates to do our tasting & pick out the meal, linens, etc.
After those few weeks I get an email from another coordinator informing me that my coordinator was no longer with them. They had been busy tying up loose ends for weddings that had been happening during that time and it had only been then that they had been able to contact me-no big deal.
She starts telling me about all of these charges we were told were included but the big one was that to use their sound system it would cost $2000. This was a service we told was complimentary. She also told me that I would be working with her for the remainder of the time up to the wedding but that the day of someone else would be taking care of the details. Now I am a reasonable person but I found all of these pretty outrageous. After explaining to her that this is already more than we should be spending I was not willing to fork out even more when I have direct emails & paperwork listing all of the expenses I could expect to make....she told me that she had the wrong Courtney....and that someone else would be contacting me shortly.
Two months later....my final coordinator came in as a saving grace. I told her of all my frustrations and confessed that although not at all her fault, I was seriously regretting our decision to get married there. (I was quite emotional at this point.)
I told her all of my worries, reservations, and concerns and she helped with everything. There were a few points in which we did have to put our foot down and say no...this is not what was in the original agreement...and I think she really worked with us.
My overall experience was wonderful and I think it is a great wedding locations. My advice: keep all correspondence, stick to your guns, put your foot down when necessary, and do not let anyone (regarding any aspect of your wedding) push you around and try to make up expenses. But make sure you recognize the people who really are trying to help you. I literally almost decided to cancel it all & elope but I am happy to say it turned completely around =]
We had our wedding in the Waterfront Room and Patio at the Hotel Baker. Everything was amazing! The coordinators and managers there made sure that we were taken care of and that everything went how we wanted it to. They went above and beyond to ensure our day was spectacular! The guests kept raving about the food as well. It was truly a spectacular place and a most spectacular venue! We highly recommend it!
we had problems with the coordinator leaving 4 months before the wedding and we had issues with the account but it turned out to be a picture perfect day!!!
To say the people at Hotel Baker exceeded our expectations understates just how well they treated us. Everyone, including the owners, made sure my daughter's wedding was the best, and from comments we received from our guests, they succeeded. We had access to everyone and everyone was ready to take care of any needs. One has to meet the owners (Rowena is the best) and staff, who are polite, attentative, professional and became friends, to understand how and why they are the best. It is difficult to identify what they did best, because the entire event was wonderful. The supervisors were always there to make sure each part was done to perfection. And the Rainbow Room! We searched far and wide but knew The Hotel Baker was the place when we saw this room. Our guests liked the food so much that I asked the manager to ask the chef to come to the room so we could congratulate him and thenk him. Nothing was jsut OK, it was all good. Without reservation, I can confidently recommend The Hotel Baker. And that doesn't even include the beautiful garden, quaint hotel and river setting. Call Jen and make it a point to have her show you why we are grateful for her and all of the people there.
We had our wedding at Hotel Baker on 9/1/12. Cai and Rowena were amazing to work with. They helped me decide on everything and had wonderful suggestions. They made the entire planning process so easy. Our wedding was better than we ever dreamed of. Everyone loved the venue and how unique it was. The food was AMAZING!! Everyone said how it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. The filets were cooked to perfection. The chicken and the vegetarian dishes were delicious. Every single person enjoyed the food. The staff and service were OUTSTANDING! The guest rooms were charming and beautiful. Mike, the banquet manager, also was wonderful. Everything was PERFECT! All day Cai was there to ask me if I needed anything, she had mints for everyone and kept getting us water, etc. She was so helpful and we had no stress on our wedding day because she took care of EVERYTHING. Cocktail hour was crazy with people wanting to talk to us and take pictures so we didn't get to try any of the hourdourves (sp?). When we got to our head table during the reception there was a platter of them for us to have some since they knew we probably get any during cocktail hour. It was a beautiful white platter with 2 love birds on it. With a note on it from the hotel thanking us for having our wedding there and it was a gift that we got to keep and take home! Then at the end of the night when we went to our room they had the platter in there with 2 pieces of cake a bunch of the pastries we had for the guests that we also didn't get to try with milk waiting for us. It was such a nice touch and so thoughtful of them. They definitely go above and beyond to make everything amazing! Thank you Hotel Baker!!! You made our wedding day amazing and everything we ever dreamed of and more!
I had my wedding there 8-4-12 and they made it the best day ever. The service was absolutely amazing. I worked with the owner Rowena Sala and she made sure I had anything that I wanted or needed. Not only is the place gorgeous, it is reasonably priced. All my guest can't stop talking about the food on how incredible it was. The people that worked there were so nice and helpful. Especially the banquet manager. I would recommend this place to everyone. Thanks to everyone there who made our day so special!!!
