The Hyatt Hauppauge was a nice hotel. We booked it for our wedding guests. The hotel staff was very nice. There were a few mishaps, but the employees of the hotel tried their best to fix them quickly and at the end there was very little to complain about!
Many complaints here...They forgot to give my guests their welcome bags (i had to call and remind them), the staff was not friend and tehy were rude. My husband had arraned a surprise for me for our wedding nigh (decorating teh room by my florist0 and they did not let her do it...Basically I never got to see what he had arranged for me because the hotel employees did not let my florist do it. nd choice and very expensive too.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Long Island for two nights and are very surprised by the positive reviews on the site.
It is a very nice looking hotel with an upscale lobby and common areas. The Front Desk was very friendly at check in and in addressing any questions throughout our stay.
Although the room was clean it was very musty smelling. We had to open the windows to air out the room when we first arrived. The bed was comfortable, which we appreciated not only when we went to sleep, but when we chose to relax in front of the television, because it was the only location in the room from which we could watch the tv. You could not even adjust the position of the CRT television (!) so it could be viewed from the seating area.
Speaking of the tv, most hotels of this level at least offer basic cable channels in guest rooms. The selection of available television channels in the rooms was surprising. More channels are listed as available in the Welcome Book than actually are available in the room.
The service in the lounge/restaurant was extremely poor. Considering there are no real dining alternatives nearby, the service in the hotel common areas ended up influencing our overall feeling about the hotel. When we dined at the "makeshift" restaurant (what was obviously once just a lounge area off the main lobby is set up with tables and curtains to function as a dining area) it was understaffed. We had to wait very long times to be greeted, seated, served, receive our food, and our check. Many times we (and other guests) had to seek service at the bar or by chasing down the server, manager or bartender. Better training of the wait staff is definitely in order. And when the food finally did arrive, it was only adequate. Very bland in taste. Disappointing to say the least.
Restaurant Management needs to coordinate with the Front Desk. If there is a high occupancy for an event at the hotel, it should be anticipated that there may be a busy dinner service and have staff scheduled accordingly. They didn't have a hostess for the dinner service so guests had to line up unattended for almost ten minutes.
The service at breakfast was no better. The hostess was not at the hostess stand to greet guests when they arrived. No plates at the buffet station. When we arrived it was not a very busy time, there were only three other tables occupied, and the waiters and hostess were congregated in a corner instead of attending to guest needs. We had to seek out the staff's attention to get seated.
Lastly, since checkout is at noon, it would have been appreciated if Housekeeping did not start knocking on the door and waking us up at 8 AM and then again at 9 AM. Of course, this could be avoided if they were to provide 'Do Not Disturb' hang tags, but absent that option Housekeeping should only seek access to rooms after Noon or at least work in synch with the Front Desk to determine if a Guest has checked out and a room is available to be serviced.
The hotel is in need of updating. The carpeting was worn in the conference room areas. Peeling wallpaper. Chipped paint.
Overall, I regret to say we did not enjoy our stay and will not return. It all depends on what you expect from your hotel stay. Brides who care about their guests' experience should take note.
The hotel is very nice but they do not have a complimentary breakfast nor shuttle.
Amazing! From the venue to the food to the staff everything was incredible. The staff went above and beyond, were very friendly and accomodating to all of our guests. We had 80 out of town guests stay at the hotel and not a single complaint!
We chose this venue due to location and have had good experiences with the Hyatt both personally and professionally in the past. Unfortunately, the Hyatt Regency Long Island fell very short of our expecations and turned out to be a frustrating and very upsetting experience. The wedding coordinator at the Hyatt promised us the world to get us to sign a contract and became very unorganized and distrustful throughout the rest of the planning.
Thirty minutes before we walked in to our reception we were informed of another event that would be right next door to ours. We were told the partitions between the two parties were sound proof. While our Best Man and Matron of Honor were giving their speeches, more than half the guests could not hear them due to the excessive noise and bass pouring through the walls from the other party.
They also double booked the Presidential Suite and informed us less than two weeks before our wedding. The room was double booked for over seven months, but just noticed it within a week or so of our wedding. There were many other things that happened throughout the planning process, but these were two I wanted to share.
We understand mistakes happen, but the way the Hyatt handled these mistakes made us the most frustrated. They made excuses for all of them and lied to be sure they would be covered when management was contacted.
We had hired a day of wedding planner on our own after we lost faith in the wedding coordinator and we were very thankful she was there to handle many of the issues we faced during our wedding day. My husband and I would not recommend this venue to anyone for their special day.
I needed a place to take nice pictures and to get ready for my wedding. The Hyatt was the only place in the area that will allowed me to have a room for a day. The rates,the staff and the location were great, I booked a room for two days rather than the one I originally needed. Great place to get ready for your special day and for your first night after your wedding. We left for our honeymoon the day after our wedding and it was night to spend our wedding night at this beautiful place. Oh I also used the limo services on the premises Mark of Elegance, great people, great service.
I stayed here the night before the wedding along with most of the bridal party and some out-of town guests. (I did not have my wedding here). The hotel was BEAUTIFUL!!! When you walk into the lobby you feel like you walk into a castle. I actually saw someone getting married at this hotel the evening before my wedding.
Also, when I called around asking about different rates, they have me the best price – $109 for a room before tax (Saturday night to Sunday – night of May 22nd). I reserved a block and they do not require a deposit. They hold the bock up to a month before the wedding. They provided great service – the sent a reminder email when the block was about to be released, they collected info about the occasion so that they can direct the guests, they even offered if I wanted to provide care packages for the guests they could hand them out.
I had the wedding at the watermill and it was really close and convenient to get to. All in all, I had a great experience there.
it took place in a hotel, which is exactly what we wanted if our guests needed a place to stay if they were not in condition to go home at the end of the night. The scenery was beautiful and it made for beautiful pictures.;Our wedding planner was only interested in one thing... MONEY. She came off very nice in the beggining, and then after we were sold and booked, things went wrong and she became nasty. There was another event that was booked after we were told we would be the only party. There was no coordination between the Maiter'Dee and the DJ (hotel's fault). They did not provide adequate food in the bridal suite like they were supposed to during the coctail hour. Our wedding planner ordered us the wrong cake.
