This was almost a 4 star review, but the last week dealing with them really left a bad taste in my mouth.
The venue is gorgeous. I could not be happier with the way it looked and how everything went on our day.
My biggest complaint is with the amount of people I had to deal with. There's a venue person, a event manager person, a valet person, a second event person for the day-of stuff, and at least 2 other people I just communicated with over the phone. Not to mention the owner who also emailed me a couple times. Why does this have to be so complicated? I'm a very organized person and it was overwhelming even for me. I can't imagine if I was bad with names, or not good at keeping track of payments, emails, etc. With so many different people I had to coordinate with, it's a miracle our day went as smoothly as it did.
The biggest headache was that they said they never received our final event management and valet payments (2 separate payments going to the same place, btw). But when we checked online, those payments had been deposited! This is the week of the wedding and we had final appointments, family coming to town, and a ton of other things to deal with... so we're freaking out, thinking our mail got stolen and we're going to have to deal with the banks on top of everything else. But I asked them to triple check that they didn't deposit the checks... well 2 days of stress later, it turns out they did deposit the checks and it was just overlooked. Woopsies! So annoying...
Would I get married here again? Yes. The beauty of the space and the ability to bring in all our own vendors (except for valet) was worth it. I just wish they would get their house in order to make it easier to coordinate with them.
The Marvimon was the perfect venue for our wedding. The space has a great layout; extremely functional and makes for amazing photos naturally. The property management they use were professional, courteous and very helpful. We highly recommend the Marvimon to anyone who is getting married and/or looking for a funky fun space for a memorable event!
I was the Maid of Honor for a wedding that was done at this location. All of the staff and vendors were so helpful and made the day run smoothly. The venue is gorgeous and does not need a whole lot in terms of decorations which helps save a lot of the costs. I would highly recommend this venue!
Found marvimon before we had even gotten engaged while imaging what kind of wedding I might like. Fell in love with the pictures immediately. After we had gotten engaged my husband and I revisited the site and booked an appointment to see it. When we walked up to the venue we were a little confused since it looked like just a regular building in an odd neighborhood, but then we walked in and we were so excited. It's like when you try on THE wedding dress and you just know... It was perfect. The brick walls, lush greenery, the bar, the rustic mirror and private room was exactly what I was hoping for... And more. You do have to find your own caterer, DJ, and florist... Which was not a problem since everyone they recommended turned out to be awesome and worked out beautifully. Their on site management team was very helpful and made sure that everything ran smoothly the day of the wedding. I just made a few DIY projects for the tables but kept it very minimal since Marvimon doesn't need any decorating. Our wedding reception was absolutely beautiful and got so many compliments on the space. Love marvimon
My husband and I got married here in October of 2012. Overall the venue is beautiful and the staff was pretty easy to work with.
We looked at both Marvimon and Smog Shoppe but we liked Marvimon more because it felt more cozy. And we had a small wedding (under 100 guests), which Marvimon easily accommodates.
As other reviewers said, this place ain't cheap. We spent a huge chunk of our wedding budget on this place but we don't regret it. You do have to bring in all your own vendors (catering, floral, musicians, cake, furniture rentals, dishware/glassware, linens, musicians, DJ, wait staff, bartenders) and this all adds up. The only vendor you don't have to bring in is valet because they make you hire their own valet service (Jeffrey Valet) - which is NOT included in the price of booking Marvimon. More on the valet service later. The upside is you get to pick the vendors you want to use (no getting stuck with serving rubber chicken). The downside is you have to pay for all of them separately.
TACT does have a lot of rules, which you must abide by. We didn't really have a problem with them. The only thing that disappointed us was we couldn't keep our dog there for the reception. She was allowed to be in the ceremony but had to be removed within 10 minutes after the ceremony.
As for the venue itself, the narrowness of the main dining area does present a challenge in seating arrangements. You basically have to seat everyone in 2 long rows of rectangular tables. Some reviewers didn't like the tables and chairs; we thought they were fine. It was kinda hard to have a dance floor because there just isn't enough room in front of the DJ. Most of our guests ended up dancing off to the side of the DJ, in front of the main bathroom. Kinda awkward.
Speaking of bathrooms, there is only 1 main bathroom inside. 2 rickety looking bathrooms outside but most of our guests didn't realize there were bathrooms outside so there was often a line for the main bathroom. It would be nice if they had a sign or something telling people there were additional bathrooms outside.
The bar outside is really cool but THEY DON'T HAVE A WATER TAP. And they never told us!! We did not find out until cocktail hour was in full swing and my husband went to get me a glass of water from the bar, only to be told by the bartender that they had no water. What kind of bar can't even give you water? That means you have to bring your own bottled water, which we did not do because we were never told.
Ok, now about Jeffrey Valet. When you book Marvimon, you must use their valet service. My husband said they told him that they were going to park the guests' cars in a lot near Marvimon. However, at our wedding the valets parked our guests' cars on the streets surrounding Marvimon. During the reception, some asshole who was texting while driving plowed into 6 of our guests' cars that were parked on the road. There was no way Jeffrey Valet could have known that this idiot was going to do that but if they had parked the cars in the lot like they said they would, our guests' cars wouldn't have been hit, at least not by that driver.

We got married here on 10.11.12 on a Thursday with only about 45 people. It is not a cheap venue but it is stunning! It was the perfect backdrop for our vintage themed wedding. The management team was very friendly. They have a projector that we played romantic black and white movies on and they have a great DJ set up as well. The garden patio is gorgeous so not much decoration is necessary and all tables and chairs are included so you don't have to deal with rentals which is nice. For us it was the perfect spot and everyone said it was the coolest and most beautiful wedding they had ever been to-highly recommend!
We wanted something that is unique and we got just that. Marvimon is beautiful, dreamy, intimate and exceeded our expectations. We were able to put in our own touches that reflect our personality as well as show how much we appreciate our guests. Everyone was simply amazed by this venue just outside of Chinatown in downtown LA. People could not stop talking about it for days. We are extremely happy that we had our wedding here. If we were to celebrate our marriage over and over, it would be right back at Marvimon. Don't be intimated by the fact you have to pick and work with most vendors. I think that if you have the right team of people who know Marvimon, everything will fall into place.
We fell in love with The Marvimon online, and from our first visit, we knew we could not get married anywhere else. This place is so gorgeous and every photograph from our wedding reflects its beauty. They run a smooth show here with coordination with TACT, and we are so happy with how everything went, which was perfectly!
Marvimon is exactly what I was looking for as it fits with how I want my wedding to be: intimate, eclectic and fun. I love that it looks like somebody’s cool home. Love the brick walls and all the cool vintage deocrations here and there (like the cool mirror on the wall). Lots of my guests raved about it and kept asking me how I found the place. I love the open kitchen and the patio garden is gorgeous! In terms of the space, Marvimon is 5 stars. However I had to knock down a star because it's not in the best location. One of my guests' car got broken into even though it's just parked right outside and there's valet right at the door! Valet was mandatory even though all they did was just park your car along the street. Also it's mandatory to have a doorman AND event manager, so all these would add up to at least another 1K on top of what they charge for the space. Another important thing to keep in mind is, you have to move the existing furniture at the space on the wedding day yourself. So make sure you have friends or relatives who could help out on the day.
