We were recently married at Mission Point, and we cannot say enough about the wedding planners and staff at the resort. Carol and Emilie were wonderful, and I didn't have to think about anything at all other than getting married and having a good time. When there was a rain out for the rehearsal, it was a perfectly smooth transition into an indoor venue, and the next day, everything went so wonderfully. The grounds were beautiful (They even removed the fish flies!), the staff were perfect and the food was AMAZING!! Thank you Mission Point, Carol and Emilie! We had a wonderful day!
My husband and I had a lovely and memorable wedding with Mission Point. Manda was great to work with and made everything go smoothly. Couldn't have been a better more perfect day!
From the moment we decided that Mission Point was the site for our reception, we knew that we had made the right decision. From the initial conversations regarding the event ideas and contract details right up until the big day, Mission Point gave us peace of mind and amazing customer service throughout the entire process. I cannot say enough good things about Danielle and Manda, as well as the entire event staff. They were attentive, understanding, and made it their mission (no pun intended) to meet our requests to the best of their ability. The facilities are beautiful and rustic, which is exactly what we were looking for (we had a vintage travel themed wedding and Mission Point fit us perfectly). Even when last-minute changes were proposed (i.e. changed the venue of the rehearsal dinner less than a month before the wedding), Mission Point was able to accommodate our requests and we were so happy with our decision. We could not be more happy with Mission Point Resort...they gave us our dream wedding! And we always have a romantic place to visit on the island when our anniversary rolls around each year.
Our wedding was the best time!! Manda & Danielle were great to work with...they made the process of planning our wedding enjoyable. When financial troubles occur during our planning they worked with us and showed such professionalism, caring, and understanding. I would recommend MPR for anyone who is thinking of getting married on the island.
Manda is the best!!!!! Great resort, wonderful people, unbelieveable experience. Truly a dream come true!! The wait staff was excellent and the whole hotel went out of their way to make our wedding celebration the best. The food was amazing. Most excellent!!! cannot say enough. Was a perfect day!!!
Mission Point Resort was the site of my fall wedding. It was a beautiful weekend, and the outdoor ceremony and inside reception went beautifully. Thank you.
Mission Point was an awesome venue to have our wedding, it had been my dream wedding spot since I was a little girl. The Cypress room was a great spot with a patio connected for guests to hang out. The food was AMAZING, service the weekend of our wedding was awesome. However, the service leading up to the wedding could have improved. Mackinac Island is a "semi" destination spot, so a lot of planning had to go on over email and phone which made it difficult at times. There wasn't air conditioning in the room, so it definitely got hot but that's why the patio connected was soo great! Overall, couldn't have asked for a better venue on our wedding day!
Overall, great staff. The waiters and bartenders were friendly and helpful. The wedding staff was attentive and quick to help. The food was great. The facilities are ok- they're a little old and need to be updated.
I worked closely with Manda to create my "Mackinac Island Dream Wedding!" She was extremely helpful, especially since at the beginning of my wedding planning process, I had a difficult time working with one of the other sales associates (who is no longer employed by Mission Point Resort). Manda did everything in her power to give me everything I wanted in terms of food, ceremony location, and pricing. She even carried my train down the long hill to the lakefront lawn!
Everything was beautiful, elegant, and special.
My wedding at Mission Point Resort was the happiest day of my life! My guests loved the location on Mackinac Island and Lake Huron, the resort accommodations, and the food. They are still talking about it!
The only thing that went wrong out of the entire day was that the kitchen staff lost or discarded our cake toppers. The banquet manager searched long and hard for them, but when he couldn't find them, he offered to compensate us for replacing them. We are pretty easygoing people, so we weren't too upset, but we appreciated his attempt to remedy the situation.
I can't wait to return to my favorite place in Michigan to celebrate future anniversaries and to share Mackinac Island and MPR with our children!
We booked our wedding with Zoe then Manda was our wedding coordinator. Manda was fabulous the entire time leading up to the wedding. She did everything she could to make sure our wedding was what we wanted and she got back to me quickly. Mission Point is a beautiful resort but once we got there several things went wrong, some of which wasn't their fault. We planned a bonfire on the lawn for the rehearsal and that got canceled b/c it was too dry. They moved us inside to a room with no air conditioning and there was a fire going (it was so hot!). There were no seats for our guests and the drinks that we ordered were not there. When we asked for seating someone told us "we don't do seating for this few of people" (Manda wasn't there), mind you there were 35 people that needed to eat dinner somewhere! It took them over an hour and a half to take care of this and they never did bring water like we requested. The rehearsal dinner was kind of a disaster and it all b/c of their mistakes. We also set up our room for the reception the night before the wedding and someone stole our candy from our candy bar and a couple of vases. We weren't aware the room wouldn't be locked b/c nobody told us and they knew we were setting up the night before. Manda was quick to call the candy shop on the island and get replacement candy and vases. Our cake from Tas T Creations was dropped (fault of the owner from Tas T Creations) so Manda was also quick to get that taken care of too. We had gift bags for the guests when they checked in and that was a NIGHTMARE. Nobody got their bags and we had to keep calling for them to send bags up and they still didn't do it. The manager of the desk was a complete ass and kept telling us what his normal practices were and made it seem like it was something we messed up. I definitely would not recommend doing gift bags. It was very disappointing that we worked so hard on these and 8 of our guests still didn't get any. It was also difficult bringing all of our luggage over. We did have a lot of boxes (19) but they were all labeled and my parents caught them getting ready to throw one of them out b/c they thought it was trash. Another thing was it had rained the night before the wedding and our cocktail hour was on the veranda outside of the cypress lodge. The rain had gotten the seat cushions all wet and they still put them out and water was dripping everywhere. They took care of this as soon as they were aware but I feel like they shouldn't have put them out in the first place. Overall our wedding was beautiful and the food was fantastic and the wait staff was incredible! I would recommend Mission Point but not to someone who is expecting every single little thing to go perfectly.
I was happy overall with the level of service that was provided. The room was a little hot and when we asked for additional fans the staff provided what they could. I was a little disappointed in the Ipod dock and speakers we paid to rent, I was picturing something much different. I had half of my guests end up not being able to come to the wedding so we had a large amount of food to purchase to reach our food and beverage minimum, which unfortunately mostly went to waste. I wish that we could have worked out something different. With that said, Mission Point did lower the prices on some of the original pricing and did their best on working with the budget I had. It was a beautiful wedding and the food was great.
I had EVERYTHING at Mission Point - bridal shower, groomsmen outing with golf, rehearsal dinner, welcome reception, ceremony, reception, and brunch the day following. All were EXCEPTIONAL.
Manda and her team at the resort, including banquet manager and assistant manager Brandon and Nick, went above and beyond to meet every request I had, even if they were things not done before. Manda communicated professionally, frequently, and was very generous with her time with us. She was truly the reason our wedding was so successful.
The food? DELICIOUS. We had an all hors d'oeuvres wedding with turkey stations, raw seafood bars, stationary cheese and antipasto platters and passed hot and cold pieces.. people are still talking about how this is the best wedding food they had ever had.
The venue? PERFECT. Beautiful clean white linens, gorgeous patio furniture, a lovely front lawn, perfectly manicured gardens and clean white chairs at the gazebo.. in addition to a fabulous rain backup option for rehearsal dinner (which we had to use!!) - the Summit Room - that gave our guests a stunning view of the straits and made us all forget that we weren't outside like we were supposed to be. GORGEOUS.
The guests rooms.. quaint, charming, clean, well maintained, and the CUTEST chocolates left on our pillows every night with the turndown service.
If I had to do it all over again, I would not change a SINGLE thing. Manda is an absolute delight and I so appreciate everything she worked on for us. I love Mission Point and I am so thankful that they made our wedding day so perfect.
This is an absolutely picturesque location in Northern Michigan. It's difficult for guests to get to the island (there's a small airport but expensive for out-of-staters) and then you have to take a ferry onto the island -- no cars allowed! But once there, it's just magical. The resort is on acres of green lawn dotted with adirondack chairs, and the spaces inside are filled with romantic fireplaces and wood beam ceilings. We loved the atmosphere for our fall wedding. The hotel coordinator, Manda Sweeney, is excellent and very helpful. Our biggest issue is that the other staff is seasonal, and a lot of details fell through the cracks and we had to do a lot of last minute damage control. But all in all, we and our guests had an incredible wedding weekend. I would recommend Mission Point and Mackinac island, but just be prepared for a few extra destination headaches. Horse and buggies are lovely, but not the most practical way to shlep wedding decor etc!
It's been a dream of mine for almost 2 years to get married at the Mission Point Gazebo. I love the property and the views. The gazebo is breathtaking. After talking to them for a year we decided to go ahead with our plans and write up a contract. We went on the site and saw that the 2011 menu nearly doubled from the 2010 menu. The manager agreed to giving us the 2010 menu prices along with a "deal breaker" agreement of bringing the ceremony chairs inside to the reception. They had a conference meeting with her boss and he told her that I will get whatever we agreed to. I signed the contract and sent in the deposit in Feb. In Aug after exchanging emails for MONTHS we drove over 800 miles one way to check out the venue and then they proceeded to sit me down to say that they cannot do ANYTHING that the promised. They told me they were aware of this for MONTHS, but wanted to tell me in person. So basically I drove 800 miles one way to hear that I am unable to have my wedding there because they lied to me. I was no longer able to get the prices that we promised or the chairs. From the beginning all they kept saying was we will give you a full refund deposit..basically making it seem as though they didn't want our business. They did not offer any discount or anything when they were the ones screwing me over! After LOTS of tears and hours spent there trying to cut things out of the menu to make it more affordable we were left with only our main course to make it even equal out to the 2010 menu price was. They cut out the cocktail hour, soup/salad, sorbet, chocolate covered strawberries, AND our wedding cake and then were like "see that's not bad...now you can afford it and its just like the 2010 menu price." Yeah except for the fact that EVERYTHING in the menu was completely taken off and we now have no wedding cake. We decided to leave them and find some place else. It's sad that such beautiful grounds is run by such a shady business! I would never recommend this place if my life depended on it!

I was so happy with my wedding at Mission Point Resort. I worked with wedding and events planner, Manda Sweeney and she was amazing. She catered to every single one of my needs and made sure that we were taking care of our entire stay. When things did go wrong, she made up for it and was always checking up on us throughout the whole visit. I have Manda to thank for how wonderful my wedding was at Mission Point Resort.
Zoe and Manda at Mission Point Resort were fabulous! We got married in the Gazebo on the front lawn and these two women made it spectacular! As a wedding planner myself, I highly reccommend these women and Mission Point Resort!
