Wonderful! posted 1/5/2014 (modified 1/6/2014)

My wedding was spectacular! My husband and I were looking for a warm, inviting, and intimate space for our NYC wedding. We found the venue on the knot and went to visit it in Chelsea. Tom Murphy made our wedding experience stress-free and perfect. He was always available to answer questions, provide information, as well as share insight on details that we would not have thought about prior to the wedding. On our big day, the food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. He was there to take care of every moment including the introductions, making sure the bride and groom were well fed and having fun, as well as made sure our guests were enjoying themselves. The wait staff was very friendly and inviting. We continue to receive great complements on our NYC wedding!

I had my wedding at Moran’s last month and could not have been a happier bride. I just had to write a glowing review about my experience at Moran’s with its manager, Tom Murphy. I cannot rave about Tom enough. I attribute my calmness during the entire process to Tom. He put my mind at ease because he was very kind, incredibly detail-oriented and extremely accommodating. Tom really went above and beyond in every respect. First, let’s start with the tasting. My (now) husband and I went to Moran’s and were joined by both sets of our parents. We literally had a meal fit for a king – they could not have treated us better and the food was fantastic. We only hoped that it would be as good at the wedding. Well, it was! I am a foodie and I can vouch for the food at Moran’s. People are still commenting on it. It was NOT typical wedding food – it was special (from the cocktail hour through to the main dinner).

From food to aesthetics, Tom made sure that every aspect of the wedding happened just the way that we wanted it to. And it literally all went off without a hitch! Tom got the names and numbers of all of my vendors so that I wouldn’t have to worry the day of the wedding – he literally acted as a wedding planner from the planning stage through the day of. (Tom even advised on table settings, flowers, colors, lighting, etc.) We also had certain “props” – i.e., favors, etc. We dropped them off earlier in the week and showed Tom how we wanted everything set up. The room couldn’t have looked more perfect. We had the wedding of our dreams. We had envisioned something a bit different (not “cookie cutter”) while also warm and intimate. We just wanted to celebrate with good friends and good food, in a cozy and beautiful space. Moran’s fit the bill perfectly! It felt like a really special wedding that had been planned with a lot of care and love. We also got fantastic photos because Moran’s could not be in a better location. It is located right across the street from the Highline. One of the stand-out pictures is of my husband and me kissing in the middle of Tenth Avenue with a few cabs in the distance.

If you are like me and want a laid-back, beautiful, intimate wedding with fantastic food and a fun atmosphere, look no further. Trust me – Tom will ensure that your experience is all that you hope for and more! Good luck planning!

I cannot say enough about how wonderful my wedding was last night and neither could my guests. I felt compelled to write a review the second I woke up this morning. Tom Murphy and the team at Moran's did an exceptional job on my wedding from Day One. He did a wonderful job putting me at ease and everything was seamless prior to the wedding and the entire day of the wedding.

Myself, the groom, members of the wedding party and my family felt so well taken care of. The food was phenomenal, my uncle was quoted as saying it was the best wedding food he ever had (order the sea bass) and people could not say enough about the hors d'oeuvres. The drinks were flowing and the wait staff and bartenders were as friendly and hard-working as could be.

And the room was so rustic, cozy and intimate. My wedding was a December wedding on purpose because Moran's looks gorgeous during the holiday season. Already a beautiful place with brick, wood, Waterford crystal, fireplaces, and copper kitchen, you couldn't imagine how it could be even better, and yet during the holidays with the properly placed trees and wreaths, and fireplace blazing, you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and celebratory setting.

I truly cannot recommend Moran’s highly enough. You will have a beautiful night in a venue that isn't a cookie cutter hotel ballroom, but a gorgeous rustic setting, that will be a beautiful site for incredible memories.

Incredible Venue posted 6/14/2014

We are so happy we chose to get married here. It such a special and cozy place. All the guests thought the venue was perfect and inviting and warm and all good things you want people to say about your wedding. It is the complete opposite of a grand ballroom. It was such an intimate and personal setting and I really think that made people feel that they weren't just spectators but could be fully part of the fun. Also, Tom is an incredible host and he really takes you through everything from beginning to end. The food is very good. People couldn't get over the hors d'oeuvres. In NY this is one of the few places that offer open bar, champagne toast, 2-3 entrees, and a good number of passed hors d'oeuvres without adding extra costs per head. There are also no added set up and break down fees, weekend fees, and all the other extra fees that we encountered when searching for venues in the city. I loved it so much that I told one of my friends about this venue and now she's having here reception there later this year! It really is wonderful, low key, personable, and just an all around great place to have a wedding reception. I can't speak to how they handle ceremonies because we got married in a church, but I'm sure the process with run just as smoothly.

Moran's was Perfect for my October Wedding posted 3/28/2012 (modified 3/28/2012)

Moran's is a great wedding venue for a few reasons - the food is phenomenal and plentiful, the room was pretty and intimate, and Tom Murphy was wonderful as we planned our wedding in only a few months.

Tom was so helpful as I visited several times to get ideas for how I wanted to decorate and seat our guests. He had great suggestions, and approached all of it with a sense of calm (which is often the opposite of the bride).

On the day before the wedding, Tom let us store several items at Moran's ahead of time and check on how everything was set up which was great.

On the day of the wedding, everyone at Moran's was wonderful. Drinks were plentiful and everything went off without a hitch. The room with its fireplaces and hardwood floors looked so pretty and everyone seemed to have a great time. The large fireplace in the main room is perfect for a ceremony.

Also, Moran's is so close to the Meat Packing district, where we were able to take photos on the cobblestone streets prior, and where our guests headed after the wedding was over.

I would definitely recommend Moran's for your wedding.

Great low-key venue posted 11/22/2011

We had our wedding at Moran's Chelsea on a Saturday night in October 2011 with a total of about 100 guests. Tom Murphy, the event coordinator, and his staff were amazing.

Many of our guests raved about the food and the fact that they always had a drink in their hands throughout the night.

The ceremony was held at Moran's as well, and everything looked beautiful and intimate in front of the rustic fireplace.

Prior to the wedding, Tom was great about answering questions and working with our various vendors. He allowed us to store a number of items at Moran's prior to the wedding including cake, flowers and other decor. On the day of the wedding, Tom made sure the tables looked great, including our flowers. We were also able to fit our rehearsal in the night before.

All in all, our wedding was what we wanted it to be: easy and fun with great food/drinks and a pretty City setting.

Cozy and Lovely Venue... posted 6/23/2011

Moran's is a one-of-a-kind venue that not only offers an intimate space to hold your wedding [think exposed brick, candlelight and an impressive Waterford crystal collection twinkling in the backdrop] but the food is outstanding. My May 2011 wedding was a night to remember not only because Tom, our host, treated us with 1st class service, but the food was incredible... not your standard 'wedding food', but A+ restaurant fare, from lobster ravioli to goat cheese salad and great cuts of meat, our guests were raving after the wedding about their meals to the liqueur tray, chocolate-covered strawberries and Irish coffee. A cozy setting transports you to an Irish restaurant, and you definitely do not feel like you're in the center of Manhattan which makes this place a rare gem. Kudos to you Moran's for making our wedding nothing but an amazing party in a lovely, classic setting.
