Decided to rent a designer gown instead of buying something that I will never wear. Liana and the team at ONA rocks. Their inventory stock is huge so go ask for help instead of trying to browse. They found an amazing one for me and the alteration turned out just perfect. The store might look sketchy from outside but it's a treasure box with amazing very professional service.
I had the most amazing experience from day 1 when I entered One Night Affair.
It was exciting walking through the doors, it wasn't like anything I expected, don't judge it by the outside, it was like walking into a dream (once I got buzzed in!!!)
At first it was overwhelming, but the staff was so helpful and guided me in the right direction. They did ask my budget so they didn't show me gowns that were out of my range, they said they don't want Brides to fall in love with a gown thats out of their budget...makes sense!
I found an amazing gown by Christoli for $495.00, it was absolutely GORGEOUS!!! It was altered perfectly to my body, I got a beautiful cathedral veil with crystals all over it, I rented all of my jewelry and a beautiful swavorsky crystal tiara...it was a dream come true...I truly felt like a princess and received unbelievable compliments from everyone at my wedding.
I couldn't be happier with my decision to rent my gown and accessories from this place.
I would recommend them to everyone, take the money that you save and spend it on something that will last longer then one day!!!
I felt the integrity and ethics might have been questionable. They immediately asked my gown budget and every single dress fell right into that first budget. When I changed my budget quote (for much less) suddenly all the dresses I had tried on now fell into that price range.
I rented a beautiful very glamours dress for my wedding. It was easy to pick up and one of my bridesmaids returned it, no hassle. During my alterations I asked for the flower to be opened and when I went to pick up it wasnt done. I had to return a second time for the pickup. Overall a good experience.
As soon as I tried on my dress I fell in love with it. Therefore I didn't do my research. It cost me $700 plus alteration cost.
When I asked who the designer was, they couldn't answer me. Later I googles for the dress the only dealer I found was in china for $250!
Anyway.. Make sure u know how much the dress is worth
You might be better of buying it
It turned out WONDERFUL and I didn't have to worry about what to do with the dress afterwards, thank goodness.
This is a great place to get a designer gown at a reasonable price.
ONA pretty much delivered on the dress, but there were two keys to my satisfaction - one was that I didn't freak out about the areas of damage that the dress had. There were slight rips in the lace along the scalloped edges, places where the dress had been repaired (so not perfect white color matching, but not so obvious that people were drawn to it). The other key was that I chose a dress with so much detail, that finding areas of damage was harder. In fact, there was so much detail that I walked down the aisle with a huge silver safety pin on the front bottom edge of my dress (where we had marked for repair at ONA, & that was overlooked), and didn't notice it until more of the formal pictures were done. We can't see it in photos, thankfully!
I must say that I couldn't have been happier in my selection of a dress, it was, for me, perfect. It's awesome that I got to pay a fraction of the price for a dress well above my budgetary means, and that I don't have to store it for the rest of my life or find someone to give/sell it to.
I also rented from ONA a slip skirt for extra poofiness and they threw in earrings at no charge, which added a lot to the overall appearance. They also dyed my 2-layer cathedral length veil at no charge to better match the dress - which was great, since the veil became so soft in hue that it really warmed up the entire ensemble and everything just flowed together naturally.
My maid of honor returned the dress for me on the Tuesday following my Saturday wedding, without a problem! They returned the deposit slip to me and all business is complete.
There were many different ladies that helped me along the way and they attended to my needs well.
I would recommend this as an option for the practical, down to earth bride who wants a bit of glamour but realizes that many things can go differently than planned on her wedding day, who won't freak out if she ends up walking down the aisle like me with a safety pin still in her dress... I would be more hesitant to rent a dress with extreme delicate aspects, with broad areas of one fabric where patching/repairing would be nearly impossible, or where rips/stains from a previous rental could really throw everything off.
Even if my dress was technically imperfect, it was the most beautiful dress I ever could dream of and only wish I could have worn it more! And the pictures came out so well!
Ok, unfortunately my only bad experience with my vendors on my wedding was the dress :-( yes, sadness indeed. Everything started out great when I went to this place and they told me I could pick a designer gown for less than a 1/3 of the real cost. I thought it couldn't get better than that. One word of advice, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
I picked up a gorgeous dress that was 4 sizes bigger than I am, but they promised the seamstress was wonderful and she would make it fit like a glove. BIG FAT LIE!! they barely made any changes to it, since they have to rent it again. I didn't think about that at the time... I am 4'11" so I needed some serious alterations length wise. She just pinned it up!!! I went down to 100 lbs for my wedding day and I didn't even look that skinny. I know I could've looked much better in another dress. The seamstress was a disaster! They charged me the cost of the dress in alterations, alterations that consisted of pining up the dress and putting inserts for my breasts. The whole thing was ridiculous. When I picked it up, they had it in cheaper clear plastic bag than the ones they use at the dry cleaners. Maybe that's silly to get upset about, but I just wanted everything about my wedding to be special. It wouldn't have just been nice to have it in a black zipped up bag. Even the tuxedo rental place had that for my husband's tux. In a few words, if you don't want to be dissapointed, invest in a dress, or rent it somewhere else.
