Let me start by saying that if you do decide to have your wedding at PAYC, STAY AWAY FROM JARED!!
He is rude, not personable, doesn't respond to emails, lies, and acts like you are bothering him whenever you have a question. Sorry I hadn't been married before and had lots of questions. Jared made it seem like you have so much freedom in your wedding cake; his exact words were "as long as you don't get all Cake Boss on them (them being Cinderella Cakes) you won't be charged anything extra". Funny, because when it was time to pick the cake I was told I had a folder of pictures to choose from that's all that was included. Food Tasting...HA! Try sitting at Jared's desk making your final payment and having a chef bring you a plate with chicken Marsala, veggies, and rice. That was it, my "tasting" to choose what dinner I wanted. I wasn't even given an option to try even 2 different entrees/sides. The most horrible thing about PAYC...my Captain. I compiled an outline for the Ceremony. Instead of the standard crap they give you, I wanted an opening prayer, something said about the unity candle, etc...my lovely Captain Scott didn't have the decency to even glance at it 1 time prior to my ceremony. He stumbled through the entire thing, EVEN the part where he says I now pronounce you...he had to stop and rewind because he finally realized what he was actually reading. It was ridiculous, all my guest could tell he had never read it before. Funny...because I gave it to Jared about 3 weeks before the wedding. Yes my wedding was beautiful on the yacht, but that was thanks to my florist not to Pacific Avalon. If I could do it all over again I would NOT have my wedding with PAYC.
They were absolutely wonderful! My guest were so impressed with thier customer service, food and so much more!
I had my wedding here Tuesday [ April 24, 2012] on the ambassador and it was by far amazing. Shane , Jared, and MaryJo helped me put my wedding together and answered any question i had..
We had a very good experience. We mostly dealt with Jared who was very nice and he negotiated prices with us to get a better deal. We used all our own vendors so I can't comment on their vendors talent. We did go to Fran at Island Petals and not only was she really strange but she repeated everything back to me incorrectly until I left and went to my own. The food was great: we got the chicken and roast beef and neither was dry. Shane is also a coordinator and kept messing up the order of things at the rehearsal and was pushing us to get out early even though we arrived early. I did't understand why Jared wasn't there. The only problems we had were: we brought our own aisle runner and it vanished after the ceremony. When our families were setting up the decor the staff insisted they would do it. They ended up messing up the table order and the feuding relatives had to sit table to table. No fights broke out so that was cool. Also, a few people said it was hot. A word of advice- don't do the sweetheart table, they put you in a little window box alone and its like a greenhouse. We were sweating bullets. Nothing can be perfect, but everyone had a great time and the place (Ambassador) is gorgeous. New chairs and new wood floor.
We wanted a beach wedding but needed a place where my grandfather could come with his wheelchair. Pacific Avalon was the perfect place for us because we got all of our pictures on the beach but we were still able to have a inside climate controlled venue for our guests. I am a wedding makeup artist so I go to about 3 weddings a week. I have scene all kinds of weddings and like any other bride, I wanted mine to be the best of the best! The guys at Pacific Avalon told me time after time that I did not have to worry about anything once the wedding started since this is what they do, and I have to say everything went perfect. Their DJ made everything flow and let us know what was going to happen before hand so we were not surprised as he announced the different events as they were happening. We had our own personal waiter who made sure we had everything we needed food and drink wise the whole time. Their bartender was super funny and sweet. The Captain escorted me to the yacht to meet my dad which calmed me down more than I could have imagined! He handled the entire night beautifully and we feel so blessed he was our captain! It was a perfect night and I owe it all to Pacific Avalon and their staff!

1 star is too high a score. Not only were the owners and staff rude, the food was horrible. Don't believe the line they sell you when you book.
As a non-native Californian, I really wanted something that captured my new California lifestyle to share with all my family and friends from the east coast but I also wanted something fairly unique those who did live in California. The beach was too unpredictable, the vineyards were too expensive, and hotels were pretty but cliche. This was PERFECT! The boat was absolutely beautiful - classy and sophisticated without being TOO formal. The harbor in the background gave us pictures that couldn't help but be breath-taking. The price was reasonable in that it came out to be abt $100pp BUT that included a FABULOUS cake, AWESOME photographer WITH the pictures, the DJ for both the ceremony and the reception and a full open-bar. This was WAY cheaper than the almost $25k the local wineries would have cost. The food was fabulous (so I'm told. I didn't really get to eat any), the staff that night were awesome, and overall the night was perfect. The best thing about it was that, incredibly, almost NO ONE had ever been to a wedding on a yacht and all we heard was how unique, fun, beautiful, and romantic it was. I know everyone always says "yours was the best wedding I've ever been to" so I take that with a grain of salt, but so many of our guests have asked me for contact info for either themselves or for their friends, sisters, etc. and to me THAT is even more telling.
What didn't I like? First and foremost, the main office guy that we dealt with was not awesome. He insulted my in-laws (whether they deserved it or not), bragged about his Jaguar, and made others (especially girls) feel uncomfortable. Thankfully, he was NOT present at the wedding. But there was close to $1,000 in "tips and gratuities" included on our bill and it was only AFTER the wedding that I discovered not a single dime of that went to the coordinator, servers, or bartenders. ALL of it went to the "office staff" (i.e. that guy). I was left scrambling to come up with some cash for a tip for the crew who actually WORKED the wedding. It DEFINITELY left a very bad taste in my mouth. We also weren't happy with the DJ that they recommended with the pckg. The photographer and cake vendors were FABULOUS and I can't recommend them enough but the DJ was NOT. He was hard to even meet with to go over the music from the start; He forgot to bring our music for the ceremony and then tried to say we didn't give it to him - luckily, I had my ipod and we used that; there was REALLY loud speaker distortion, which happened, of all times, as I was walking down the aisle; AND he sold us a "photobooth" and several other "upsells" that turned out to be a TOTAL waste of money. If I had it to do it over again, I would have spent just a little more money to get my own DJ.
Lastly, while there's nothing I didn't LIKE about the venue, there are some things to keep in mind. First and foremost, the basic pckg comes with 4 hours. THIS IS NOT ENOUGH TIME if you are also having your ceremony there. We bought an extra hour and we STILL barely had time to dance. Our guests didn't notice but we barely had enough time to get to everyone much less spend any time enjoying them. That still makes me sad. Also, it was incredibly windy that day. Like a beach wedding, we were at the mercy of the weather. Luckily, unlike the beach, we had the option of going inside but we wished we could have enjoyed the water more. Still, overall, it was a perfect night and I would highly recommend.
I love their yachts, used Majestic for my wedding. The company itself though is horrible. They were not set up when they told me they would be the day of the wedding which really stressed me out. They also do not communicate with you unless it is to ask for their money. Hard to get a call back from them for any other reason. Ran out of butter at the reception...who runs out of butter???? Bridal suite bathroom was dirty, seriously???!!! Would never recommend them to anyone!!!! They were cheaper than the other yacht charters, guess you get what you pay for ;-/
Wedding was well coordinated, fun and went smoothly.
Just be aware that even though they say everything is included, all that is included is the bare minimum. For example they will charge you a linen fee per person but this does not include cloth napkins, that is an additional upgrade. We came across the same thing with the DJ. Also it seems that none of their prices are set in stone. We would talk to our main agent but if we called when he wasn't there we would be quoted different prices for services. We were able to make it work but you have to constantly nag and fight for the things you want (such as changing of their proposed schedule).
It was a different and great experience having a reception on a yacht instead of a hall. Loved the atmosphere. Everything went well except for not receiving an itinerary of when the cake cutting was taking place, dollar dance, so forth.
I worried about a perfect wedding for nothing. Crew was very helpful and made sure everything ran smooth. My husband and I don't have any complaints about the night!!
Not the best venue in the world. We had a great time don't get me wrong, but the people are rude once they get your money. They rarely answered my questions and didn't help me through the process. The food was subpar, the minister stumbled through all of the vows, and some of our wedding gifts were stolen and they didn't even help us. The boat was beautiful though and the view was spectacular I just wouldn't go with the same boating company again.
The service is terrible. They took our $30,000 and left us hanging on our wedding day. They really don't care about your wedding! Don't be fooled, they'll talk sweet and when you're on the yacht with your guests, I guarantee you that you'll be sorry you ever went with them.
Beware!! RIP OFF! They gave us cheap food, crappy service, didn't give us the floral backdrop we paid for, didn't feed an entire table of guests and stole our liquor! The package came with a wedding cake... and guess what? They didn't have enough to serve my guests, so the lady asked me if it was okay to give them our top piece (I said go ahead... how can I leave an entire table without cake to eat!).
I look back and am sad that we worked with Carrie Williams (General Manager) and John Gueola (President) in the first place. Bride and Grooms beware, don't let these folks take your money and leave you with bad memories when it is supposed to be a special day (a once in a lifetime experience). Don't be fooled like we were.
Find a place where they will provide you with good service and where they care. AVOID Pacific Avalon Yacht Charters!
