My husband and I walked into Pen Ryn and knew this is where we would be celebrating our Marriage! The charm and history is breathtaking. The accomodations were pefect and we danced ALL night. The backdrop of the Delaware River and well-manicured grounds created beautiful pictures. And the staff was attentive and helpful. Not to mention the food- we still receive comments about how wonderful the food was! By far one of the best choices for our wedding day (besides the groom)!
Pen Ryn is a most wonderful place to have a wedding. Our guests raved about the food and drinks, the friendly staff, and the beautiful venue. We held both our wedding and our reception here, and it is an excellent spot for both events. We even held the rehearsal dinner here the night before in the mansion (our wedding was in the Belle Voire Carriage House).
Elizabeth was phenomenal in working with us as we planned each step of the process. She was incredibly accommodating and easy to work with. Linda was in charge of our rehearsal and wedding day, and to say she was exceptional is an understatement. She coordinated things smoothly and positively. The staff there was efficient and friendly - many went out of their way to congratulate us.
What a gorgeous venue, and what wonderful people who work there! We highly recommend Pen Ryn Estate!
Pen Ryn was a fantastic venue for our special day. Their prices were reasonable and flexibility was second to none! Megan made me feel like the most special bride in the world and none of my crazy requests were denied. A beautiful venue with a great staff. I would wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone else.
Penn Ryn is an absolutely wonderful venue! We used the Belle Voir side. It had all the amenities and ambiance that my daughter wanted. This made her very happy. Elizabeth and the staff worked with our budget to provide us with an incredible value. As the father of the bride, this made me very happy too! On the day of the wedding, we were blessed with staff members, Linda and Karen who walked with us each step of the way. From the moment we arrived, to the timing of the reception dinner and events, and all the way through until we finally drove away, it was worry free thanks to them. We even had Joe, who personally waited on the bridal party throughout the day! Many thanks to the staff at Penn Ryn for helping us have an amazing celebration. In my opinion, you don't ned to look any further than Penn Ryn.
We had our reception at Belle Voir Manor, and it was perfect! Elizabeth helped with all the planning and so so accommodating with all we wanted to do. I did have to follow up on a few calls and emails, but I also got married in June, which is a busy month. THe night of the wedding Linda was there on site and helped with everything we needed. They were wonderful and the place was beautiful!
We actually had our wedding at the Belle Voir Manor (the carriage house next to the Pen Ryn mansion). The carriage house is nice and definitely needed for the # of guests we had (185). The room is open, but overall, there is less charm at the Belle Voir than at the mansion. However, we lucked out and the mansion wasn't booked on the day of our wedding so we were able to take pictures inside! We got some amazing photos. The grounds are so pretty and everyone utilized the indoor and outdoor space (it was in May, about 72 degrees outside). The ballroom fit all of the guests comfortably. The food was amazing. We got several raving reviews about cocktail hour. Some favorites were the cheesesteak egg roll (must have!), bacon wrapped scallops from the Hawaiian Hut station, and mini sliders. The mashed potato bar was amazing, but unfortunately some guests didn't see it hidden on the side (we asked to set up the stations in the center of the room but they forgot - no big deal). The dinner was average - nothing special, nothing that blew anyone away, but every guest (that I talked to after) said that they enjoyed it. Dessert was amazing! We had a chocolate fountain and a cheesecake mousse served in a martini glass. There was a line for the chocolate fountain the whole night! It was a big hit! The cake is by Isgro Bakery in South Philly. We got the chocolate chip cake (choices were vanilla, chocolate, marble, raspberry, or lemon pound). The cake was included too! (We paid for a minor upgrade in decoration). Overall, I believe my guests enjoyed their experience, and I was super happy with mine. They were accommodating to our budget, responsive, and willing to provide help/advice. We had an excellent time and our guests did too (maybe with some help from that extra hour at the open bar).
We visited over 20 venues in Center City and the surrounding suburbs before selecting the Pen Ryn Mansion, the last place we tried. We picked it because it was extremely convenient for our Philadelphia and New York guests and because the venue looks beautiful. While this place is not inexpensive, the overall cost was within our budget.
- Convenient: They are located not too far away from Regional Rail and I-95. This was great for our guests who had to travel. They also included valet parking.
- The decoration was EASY. They have an awesome library that we used as our photo booth backdrop. The pergola required very little decoration. They allowed us to have candles, sparklers, and fireworks! The fireworks reflected on the river is spectacular! Although this ended up not being a big deal, they wouldn't allow us to do a send-off with potpourri or confetti.
- They are extremely accommodating. We knew that we were going to be under the minimum guest count for Saturday. They allowed us to meet the minimum via food upgrades that we were going to select anyway. They also accommodated our menu. We had 4 selections (pork, chicken, fish, and vegetarian). Because we weren't impressed by their cake vendor (who has since been replaced), we wanted cupcakes instead. They were willing to remove the cupcakes and give us credit toward a 'smores station for a slight upcharge. They also comped us 2 tastings because we needed to try all of their food before making a selection.
- We really liked the food we selected. I urge you to try before you select. For example, we almost chose the steak. Luckily, we tried it and learned that it was extremely dry. In the end, we did not select a steak dish but were extremely pleased with the food we ate. Our guests loved and made good use of the open bar. The original beverage package have mid-tier liquors and spirits.
- They really pack the weddings at this place. There was an event that terminated about 2 hours prior to our event. This leaves very little preparation and pre-wedding ceremony pictures. We also couldn't have a rehearsal at the venue on Friday.
- The venue overlooks the river. While this is stunning, it may bring drawbacks as well. I think that the venue borders state / city property; they couldn't / didn't clear out people who were fishing several feet from where we were taking pictures. They ended up being in some of our shots.
- I think the services of the bridal server ended after toasts and dinner. I had to go get my own water and drinks during the latter part of the reception. I don't think we received cupcakes or desserts at our table.
- We had an extremely helpful and friendly coordinator. However, she went on vacation without turning on her out-of-office message on her email. This occurred while we had to do our final selections and appointments and it caused communication issues. These issues were quickly resolved and well-handled by our coordinator, her peers, and management.
We had our reception at Belle Voir Manor and loved it! Perfect location on the river, pictures turned out awesome. Staff was easy to work with leading up the wedding, and was attentive and professional during the wedding. I would definitly recommend Belle Voir. Only problem was, the bar is in the cocktail room which is a seperate room from the reception room. People tended to congregate near the bar so some people missed cake cutting, bouquet toss, etc. Would recommend a portable bar in the reception room if that's an option.
My husband and I were married December 7th 2013 and held our reception at Belle Voir Manor at the Pen Ryn Estate. All aspects of the planning, leading up to our wedding day, and the day itself, far exceeded our expectations. We cannot say enough about the staff at Pen Ryn. From our coordinator Elizabeth Lotz, Linda, and the entire wait staff, we were so impressed and grateful for all the time and effort they put into making our day absolutely amazing. The venue was beautiful and decorated so lovely for the holiday season, not to mention the food was amazing. Starting with cocktail hour, the martini ice luge and mash potato bar are a must! These were just a few of our favorites. For dinner my husband and I selected the duet platter with salmon and filet. Both were cooked to perfection which can be hard to do with over 230 guests. We have received nothing but positive feedback from our family and friends about the great time they had at our wedding reception. We highly recommend this venue, Elizabeth Lotz and the entire team at Pen Ryn Estate!
Great venue. Food was delicious. Our Wedding coordinator Elizabeth was a pleasure to work with...overall I was very pleased.
We had our wedding at the Belle Voir Manor (more modern and spacious for our tastes), ceremony and reception. The ceremony site was beautiful, right along the Delaware River. There is a large open space for cocktail hour and people have the option of being outside. Obviously, we didn't get much cocktail hour time, but I did hear great things about the food. They did set up a plate for the bride and groom with all the cocktail hour options for us to easily sample the butlered ones. While we were getting pictures there was a server with us constantly bringing drinks out for us, Vanessa, she was so attentive and helpful (even helped carry my heavy bouquet!). The reception area is pretty large, we had 166 people and no one felt cramped at all. We heard only good things about the meals (the filet is especially fabulous). The only small problem we had with the place was the fact that we were working with one coordinator when we signed our contract and a few months before our wedding she suddenly left. I only found out because I emailed her with a question and someone else answered. We then worked with Elizabeth who was wonderful and everything went as planned, just would have appreciated a heads up about the change.
Overall, Belle Voir was a gorgeous place for a wedding and my husband and I loved every last minute of it and wouldn't change a thing!
Belle Voir Manor is a gorgeous venue. It worked out that when we looked at the venue, they were taking $25/person off their menu. Made the venue affordable within our budget. Def a great value.
Outside of that, the experience was okay. The response time via email is okay. They switched my point of contact on me and I had to start from scratch 2 weeks before the wedding. I found out when I went to the venue for the final meeting. I had added a 2nd bar in the reception room and they totally forgot about it, until I noticed and had to tell them - gave me a hard time about it until they realized they missed something in my contract. They made up for it by adding a cheesecake martini - which tasted really good.
The mashed potato bar was a great hit - everyone raved about it, highly recommend it.
My husband and I looked at about 8 wedding venues. Someone actually put a deposit down on a date in July last year and then called it off, so when we went to look at the place they told us that we could have that date minus the deposit fee, so we booked it that day. Unfortunately it rained on our wedding day so we couldn't have the ceremony outside, but it was decent inside. The room for the wedding has great space, the dance floor is great, the bar, the food, etc. The only thing is the service. The girl I worked with was hard to get in touch with and she wasn't the greatest help. But overall it was a great place and I would suggest it. But if we didn't get it for the price we did, it would have been a little too expensive for us.
Pen Ryn Mansion is absolutely beautiful and is why I picked the site for both my ceremony and reception. It was the perfect setting for my wedding. Now as for the staff, my coordinator I was assigned to by them when I booked ended up quiting 3 weeks for my wedding and no one took over for her to help me which was frustrating. The catering manager ended up being the one in charge and she was not the nicest women if you know what I mean..... many people complained about her being nasty. Since I no longer had a go-to person, the rehearsal was a mess and the day of had a few issues. My wedding was booked until Midnight but they decided to clean everything up at 11:30pm so many guests didnt even get their favors since they were cleaned up... there ended up being a lot of little things that the staff screwed up through out the day and rehearsal. No, it didn't ruin my day but Pen Ryn is way too expensive to have these sort of things happen.
We had an amazing Feb wedding here. With a 4pm ceremony planned, we realized at 2:30 that it was going to be almost 65 degrees and Patty and her team worked their magic to let us have our ceremony outside. All of our guests raved about the food- Garlic Mashed Potato Bar is a MUST for cocktail hour! The bacon wrapped salmon was a big hit for the meal. It was a bit costly overall, but you definitely get a lot of service included.
Leading up to the event was very organized and everything went perfectly according to plan! They had no issues with last minute additions and even brought our highchairs when 2 guests brought babies we weren't expecting.
The staff made wedding planning a breeze and our special day perfect! Our guests loved the food and the beauty. Everyone kept talking about how perfect the venue was!
I had my reception here in October and everything was great! The pictures right along the river are wonderful, the hall is beautiful and the food was awesome! Would definitely recommend it!
I can't say enough good things about our experience with having our wedding at Pen Ryn Mansion. It was beautiful, elegant, well worth every penny and the mansion is historic as well. Everyone loved the food and Patty Bitting (the wedding coordinator) was friendly, helpful and answered every question and respondled promptly. They also accomodated special requests. The only thing I would do differently would be to leave out the flambe dessert that we opted for....it wasn't needed as there was more than enough food and it wasn't the best flambe Ive had. Other than that......I would recommend to every bride.
I highly recommend the Belle Voir Manor to host your wedding and ceremony, as they did a fantastic job and all our guests raved about how pretty the place was and how delicious all the food was!!! The setting, right along the Delaware river, and the long wooded entrance, was so beautiful and it made for an unbelievable ceremony and reception site for my wedding!!!
Beautiful venue, really accommodating staff, worked with us to make the celebration fit our budget. Couldn't have been happier.
