For my wedding I wanted a stunning wedding dress. I pored over page after page of wedding magazines, trying to find the perfect dress. But I also didn't want to have to spend $5,000 or up on a dress that I would wear for one day. I read some positive reviews of RK Bridal, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I got my mom and bridesmaids together and in one day we hit three places. RK Bridal was the first.
It's not a glamorous salon, with chaise lounges, snooty saleswomen and glasses of champagne handed out. If that's what you want, then you probably have no qualms about wasting thousands and thousands of dollars on a wedding gown, so go right ahead. They have tons of dresses, and one of the things I liked immediately was that you are encouraged to look through the racks yourself, to see what you like.
My consultant was Sheryl, and she was awesome. Very sweet and friendly. She listened to what I liked and didn't like in dresses, and set out to pick a few to try on. All but one of her choices looked great on, and she took what worked and what didn't in mind as she went in search of more. We had a great time, and I felt like she was another (extremely knowledgable) friend helping me find my perfect dress. At the end of the appointment I had two very strong contenders. I told her I wanted to think about it because I'm not an impulse buyer, and said that we had two other appointments that day at other salons. She said she totally understood and that she hoped she'd see me again. We hugged as my group and I got ready to go, and the rest of the day I kept comparing my experiences at the other salons to the one I'd had at RK Bridal. When I was at Kleinfeld's (a terribly disappointing and frustrating experience in which they pressured me non-stop to purchase then & there, and my hour and a half time slot turned into 33 minutes because they were overbooked) I'd say to my friends, "You know, Sheryl didn't just pick out the exact dresses I had pictures of -- SHE showed me other options." At the third salon I remarked that Sheryl had actually seemed to care about helping me find the right dress and gave me personal attention, instead of just shuttling me off to a dressing room with my friends and dashing over to the next customer.
In the end of course, it came down to the dress. And the dress I fell in love with was one from RK Bridal. It was really, really beautiful, just what I'd had in mind but hadn't been able to fully describe, and it cost less than $2,000. It didn't look any less expensive than any of the more costly dresses I'd tried on at other stores. On my wedding day I received tons of compliments on the dress, and my groom said I looked like a fairy tale princess or old-fashioned movie star (I love old movies, so this was a look I was aiming for). He couldn't stop staring at me, and on our wedding video you can hear him saying several times that I just look so beautiful. That's the only endorsement I really needed to know I'd made the right choice. I felt like a million bucks without having to spend nearly that amount! ;-)
So, RK Bridal worked for me. The dresses I tried on were great quality, reasonably priced, and the service was the best I received anywhere I went. My experience with alterations was also stellar. The ladies in tailoring were incredibly nice, very exacting, and made sure that the dress fit as if it had been made just for me. They gave me a dream experience, a dream of a price, and definitely a dream dress.
We worked with Nicole as my consultant for my wedding gown shopping. She was great, and helped me find the perfect dress! Nicole took her time and let me walk around in all of the various dresses to get an idea. She had me try on a few different styles because you never know how it will look on each person, regardless of photos. I found the PERFECT dress for me and instantly fell in love.
RK is huge and has a great variety of everything! We got our bridesmaid dresses through them, and my mom got her dress there too. My mom and I planned our fittings on the same days so we could do it all together. I am so happy with my dress and my experience with RK.
Candi, Nicole and the entire team is amazing! Thank you so much for helping me find my dream dress for my wedding day!
RK Bridal is, as you may have heard, NO FRILLS. It's not the kind of place you're going to sit with ten of your bridesmaids and have a glass of champagne, while you model one of the ten designer dresses they have in house in an overly decorated room.
No. It is a warehouse. You will go in, sign your name, search for your dresses, try then on, then make your decision.
But they will pass these savings on to you. And the selection they have is mind-blowing.
I originally went in to try on this Alfred Angelo number I'd seen in some bridal magazine. I'd stupidly going to a Designer Bridal Boutique that was out of my price range. When I found my Dream Dress (The ONE), I proceeded to jump up and down screaming, until I checked the price tag and realized it was THREE TIMES my budget. I had to put it back, and for months, I had been on a quest to find a cheap knockoff.
In my internet searches, in magazines, and in my travels, I kept coming across a certain dress: the Maggie Sottero Isadora Ann. I'd admired it and moved on several times, but kept dismissing it because it was tea-length. My Dream Dress was a Fit-and-Flare with a Chapel Train.
Finally, my search led me to RK Bridal. I had a stack of pictures and Style Numbers in hand, and I handed them to the attendant. As I tried them on, she was honest with me. "That's ok. "That's nice." "That doesn't quite work."
But when I tried on the Isadora Ann, she gasped. "That dress is so you!" I'd been thinking it, but when I heard it come out of her mouth, I knew she spoke the truth.
I left without it and continued to search. A month or two later, I came back with another stack of style numbers and dresses. My attendant remembered me right away. I tried some dresses on, but nothing stood out. I was about to leave again, when I sheepishly asked to try on the Isadora Ann again. The attendant's face lit up, and she said, "I thought you'd never ask!" As I put it back on, she almost scolded me; "I don't know WHY you left without it last time! Don't leave it again! That's YOUR dress!"
And I didn't.
I never felt like she (or anyone) was out to sell me the most expensive dress (in fact, the Isadora Ann was the LEAST expensive dress of all the dresses I'd tried on there). I never felt like I couldn't leave without purchasing something. As big and warehouse-y as RK Bridal is, I felt the people who work there were looking out for me and MY Wedding Dress needs.
I went to RK Bridal this weekend to look for my wedding dress and dresses for my bridesmaids and I couldn't be more happy with the service. Sheryl, my consultant, was absolutely amazing. She knew what she was doing and was efficient and helpful. A couple tips for future brides going there - 1. Get there before doors open, there is a line. 2. Go in there knowing what style you want. It would have been very overwhelming to go in there without having tried on dresses previously to know what style fit my body and what I liked. 3. If you go through the website and choose designer/style numbers call ahead of time to see what they have on the racks to try on.
Overall, I loved the experience going there and I can not say enough positive feedback for Sheryl!
I was getting tired of the dress search and then I found the dress. I told the consultant what I wanted and she pulled a few dresses for me and I told her what I didn't like about each dress. After hearing my concerns, she tells me she has the dress for me. She DID and then I looked at the price tag and that made me want to buy it even more. I live in another state and they made it convenient for me to schedule my fitting appointments. However sometimes the waits were very long.
The place has tons of dresses and can be overwhelming if you don't know what you want. My advice would be go to a few smaller boutiques first to get an idea of the type of dress you want first, then go to RK.
This place has a wide variety and im so happy with my wedding dress. My bridesmaid also found there dresses here . The dresses were beautiful They are convenient and helping.
I took my bridesmaids to RK to pick out their dresses. I selected a color and designer and, within those parameters, the girls were able to pick out the style that they liked best. RK was the perfect place to do this! They have SO MANY bridesmaid dress samples and it's so low-key. We were able to shop the racks and pull styles that we liked. The sales people stayed out of our way and were available when we had questions. It was a care-free and easy shopping experience and everyone found something they liked. Highly recommended!
As many brides to be do, I was researching for my perfect dress (thanks to The Knot Lookbook app) and saw that many of my favorite designers were at RK Bridal. On my first trip to RK Bridal, I tried on 5 dresses and left knowing that I found "the dress".
From consultants to alterations and everyone else in between, I had a great experience!
I think RK Bridal gets a bad rap sometimes, so here's my two cents: This is not Kleinfelds. You're not going to be handed a glass of champagne upon walking in the door. If you do a little research before you go in (ie have an idea of what styles or designers you like), you CAN find an amazing dress for less than $1000. (I know this because mine was $800 and it looked 5x as expensive.) You can't make an appointment at RK, so heed the warnings of brides before you and GET THERE EARLY on a weekend (and by early, I mean before they open). I had no problem getting an attendant assigned to me, and even though I had no intention of purchasing a dress the day I went, I walked out extremely happy. I also did all of my alterations at RK, and was extremely anxious about it, because I hadn't heard great things. My fears were unfounded. The seamstresses turned out to be great, and even though I couldn't zip up the dress at the beginning of the 2nd fitting (they took it in too much - cue panic attack for me!), it turned out beautifully. Give the staff credit - they are damn good at handling brides. Highly recommend them.
If you are a budget bride, definitely check this place out before going to rest of the high-end designers. I must say, don't go on a Saturday. Go at 11AM on a weekday when they open before they get too busy. It's first come first serve. You are only allowed to try on 7 dresses in one day, so choose wisely. Going through the dresses could be a lot for someone who wants the full luxury experience. Bring a friend, or family member who can help you go through the many many racks of dresses. They also have BM dresses, but I would have an idea of what you wanted before you look at their samples. Many of their BM dress samples dont look too nice on the rack, but if you know the styles you want, they can order it for you. I didn't get my BM dresses there, because it was too overwhelming. The alterations dept is a team of very sweet girls who are eager to please. I never felt rushed, they took their time, and when I had a request to change something, they did so without any questions. I found this very comforting. They also have some nice accessories, veils, and belts to choose from which were a fraction of the cost of what others were charging in the nearby areas. I highly recommend this place if you have help from a friend or family member to help you go through the dresses on the racks.
I would recommend RK to any bride. I live in northern NJ and went to David's Bridal first and then Bijou in Paramus. I actaully found a couple I liked (but didn't love) at David's. Bijou was way too *much* for me - too much satin and beading which isn't my style.
My sister in law recommended RK so I went with my MOH. They have SO many dresses. The one thing I do recommend is to have a list of a few dresses you like - designer name and style number. All of the dresses are sorted by that and they're in plastic bags so you really have to dig through to find the one you're looking for. It's hard to tell what the dresses really look like the way they're hung up. So if you see a picture online or in a magazine, save it! I ended up with a strapless, sweetheart neckline all lace dress. The owner/manager was very helpful. You do have to make an appointment! You don't have to get alterations there if you don't want to. They can ship you your dress for a low cost (mine was $40). I think you can only try on a few dresses per appointment (they only have about 5 dressing rooms and if you go on a Saturday, it gets super busy!) I hope you have a good experience at RK like I did! :)
This place was perfect for an indecisive bride who needs to see a huge variety before deciding. Get there early and clear you day because you will be waiting to try on. I went there knowing this so it didn't bother me. To me it was worth it.
I paid the $40 to have the dress shipped back to CT so I didn't have to pay tax on the dress. And brought the dress to someone local for alterations. The crew is very pleasant and helpful. You can find dresses for all price rages.
I went here on whim my first time really looking for dresses- I wasn't sure what I wanted but knew what I didn't want. Jo was amazing at picking out dresses that fit my body well. It isn't the boutique bridal store you imagine, it's more like a warehouse but their prices for the quality and brands cannot be beat. The staff and tailors are accommodating and really willing to work with you to make sure everything is perfect!
Upon walking into RK Bridal it's easy to become overwhelmed by the HUNDREDS of wedding gowns they have stocked from wall to wall. However, their attendants (I had Janice) are wonderful and attentive. Though inevitably the dress I chose was not one I tried on there (I had found it weeks before while visiting Florida) I was easily able to order the dress through RK and they price matched as well. I then had Fanny (sp?) alter my dress. After just one alteration appointment she had tailored the dress perfectly. But thank God I went back for my last fitting -- I lost a ton of weight in the last couple of weeks before the wedding and needed the dress taken in by 2 inches just a week before the wedding. Luckily, she still had some magic left and when I picked up my dress it fit like a glove. Everyone was blown away by it. I highly recommend RK for both dress shopping and dress altering!
when you first go into RK Bridal, it is a little overwhelming as you have to go through the racks yourself and find a dress. However, i found my dream dress & it was on sale for 60% off!! I got a $1400 dress for only $560!! Ofcourse i had to get alterations, but even with alterations- it added up to $850. STILL a steal :)
I found a dress in one of the bridal magazines that I wanted to try on. There were a few places in the metro area that had it, but since I knew many people who got their dresses from RK brial, that's where I went. I first went to try the dress on in 2012 (meanwhile, my wedding was not until 2014), and was hesitant that my style or decision would change, but the second I tried the dress on, I knew this was it. The woman I worked with was great. She provided recommendations for accessories and everything was just beautiful.
I said 'yes to the dress' and ordered my size. Once the dress came in, RK Bridal was prompt in contacting me and setting appointments for my trials and alterations. The entire process was great. The seamstresses did a beautiful job on making this dress unique to my body.
We really got down to the wire with my alterations and final fitting, but when I picked up my dress, and put it on, on the day of my wedding I couldn't have been happier with my decision.
The one thing I would have done different was to hire one of the women in the alterations department to put my dress on for me, haha. It was a corset back dress, and the way they tied it was much better than on the day of. The dress was taken on and off a few times to retie, but all in all stayed on well.
Working with RK Bridal was a great experience. They have dresses in all sizes, all styles and all price ranges. I highly recommend.
It feels like a warehouse and we had to wait forever for an attendant, but the dresses I tried on were awesome.
This place is by far the best place in NYC to get a high quality designer dress at the lowest cost possible. It does get a little crowded especially on weekends. I went on a Thursday afternoon at 2pm with 5 of my closest friends and family and could not of had a more pleasurable experience. My attendant Shannon was so helpful and attentive. She really made the focus of what I wanted and I was so appreciative! I can't wait to go back in July for my alterations. I higly recommend this place!
I bought my allure dress at RK bridal. The woman I had (forgot her name) was so helpful and not pushy. However, my best experience has been the tailoring. I had Juan who was not only such a fun, exhubert man (full of life), he did such a great job in my dress.
I loved my dress but was a little taken aback with the price of alterations and the fact that they ordered me a plus size which i had to completely take in down to a regular size, otherwise great value.
