For my wedding I wanted a stunning wedding dress. I pored over page after page of wedding magazines, trying to find the perfect dress. But I also didn't want to have to spend $5,000 or up on a dress that I would wear for one day. I read some positive reviews of RK Bridal, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I got my mom and bridesmaids together and in one day we hit three places. RK Bridal was the first.
It's not a glamorous salon, with chaise lounges, snooty saleswomen and glasses of champagne handed out. If that's what you want, then you probably have no qualms about wasting thousands and thousands of dollars on a wedding gown, so go right ahead. They have tons of dresses, and one of the things I liked immediately was that you are encouraged to look through the racks yourself, to see what you like.
My consultant was Sheryl, and she was awesome. Very sweet and friendly. She listened to what I liked and didn't like in dresses, and set out to pick a few to try on. All but one of her choices looked great on, and she took what worked and what didn't in mind as she went in search of more. We had a great time, and I felt like she was another (extremely knowledgable) friend helping me find my perfect dress. At the end of the appointment I had two very strong contenders. I told her I wanted to think about it because I'm not an impulse buyer, and said that we had two other appointments that day at other salons. She said she totally understood and that she hoped she'd see me again. We hugged as my group and I got ready to go, and the rest of the day I kept comparing my experiences at the other salons to the one I'd had at RK Bridal. When I was at Kleinfeld's (a terribly disappointing and frustrating experience in which they pressured me non-stop to purchase then & there, and my hour and a half time slot turned into 33 minutes because they were overbooked) I'd say to my friends, "You know, Sheryl didn't just pick out the exact dresses I had pictures of -- SHE showed me other options." At the third salon I remarked that Sheryl had actually seemed to care about helping me find the right dress and gave me personal attention, instead of just shuttling me off to a dressing room with my friends and dashing over to the next customer.
In the end of course, it came down to the dress. And the dress I fell in love with was one from RK Bridal. It was really, really beautiful, just what I'd had in mind but hadn't been able to fully describe, and it cost less than $2,000. It didn't look any less expensive than any of the more costly dresses I'd tried on at other stores. On my wedding day I received tons of compliments on the dress, and my groom said I looked like a fairy tale princess or old-fashioned movie star (I love old movies, so this was a look I was aiming for). He couldn't stop staring at me, and on our wedding video you can hear him saying several times that I just look so beautiful. That's the only endorsement I really needed to know I'd made the right choice. I felt like a million bucks without having to spend nearly that amount! ;-)
So, RK Bridal worked for me. The dresses I tried on were great quality, reasonably priced, and the service was the best I received anywhere I went. My experience with alterations was also stellar. The ladies in tailoring were incredibly nice, very exacting, and made sure that the dress fit as if it had been made just for me. They gave me a dream experience, a dream of a price, and definitely a dream dress.
We worked with Nicole as my consultant for my wedding gown shopping. She was great, and helped me find the perfect dress! Nicole took her time and let me walk around in all of the various dresses to get an idea. She had me try on a few different styles because you never know how it will look on each person, regardless of photos. I found the PERFECT dress for me and instantly fell in love.
RK is huge and has a great variety of everything! We got our bridesmaid dresses through them, and my mom got her dress there too. My mom and I planned our fittings on the same days so we could do it all together. I am so happy with my dress and my experience with RK.
Candi, Nicole and the entire team is amazing! Thank you so much for helping me find my dream dress for my wedding day!
RK Bridal is, as you may have heard, NO FRILLS. It's not the kind of place you're going to sit with ten of your bridesmaids and have a glass of champagne, while you model one of the ten designer dresses they have in house in an overly decorated room.
No. It is a warehouse. You will go in, sign your name, search for your dresses, try then on, then make your decision.
But they will pass these savings on to you. And the selection they have is mind-blowing.
I originally went in to try on this Alfred Angelo number I'd seen in some bridal magazine. I'd stupidly going to a Designer Bridal Boutique that was out of my price range. When I found my Dream Dress (The ONE), I proceeded to jump up and down screaming, until I checked the price tag and realized it was THREE TIMES my budget. I had to put it back, and for months, I had been on a quest to find a cheap knockoff.
In my internet searches, in magazines, and in my travels, I kept coming across a certain dress: the Maggie Sottero Isadora Ann. I'd admired it and moved on several times, but kept dismissing it because it was tea-length. My Dream Dress was a Fit-and-Flare with a Chapel Train.
Finally, my search led me to RK Bridal. I had a stack of pictures and Style Numbers in hand, and I handed them to the attendant. As I tried them on, she was honest with me. "That's ok. "That's nice." "That doesn't quite work."
But when I tried on the Isadora Ann, she gasped. "That dress is so you!" I'd been thinking it, but when I heard it come out of her mouth, I knew she spoke the truth.
I left without it and continued to search. A month or two later, I came back with another stack of style numbers and dresses. My attendant remembered me right away. I tried some dresses on, but nothing stood out. I was about to leave again, when I sheepishly asked to try on the Isadora Ann again. The attendant's face lit up, and she said, "I thought you'd never ask!" As I put it back on, she almost scolded me; "I don't know WHY you left without it last time! Don't leave it again! That's YOUR dress!"
And I didn't.
I never felt like she (or anyone) was out to sell me the most expensive dress (in fact, the Isadora Ann was the LEAST expensive dress of all the dresses I'd tried on there). I never felt like I couldn't leave without purchasing something. As big and warehouse-y as RK Bridal is, I felt the people who work there were looking out for me and MY Wedding Dress needs.
After visiting 5 bridal salons in the NY Metro area, I was feeling very down and felt as though I wasn't going to find exactly what I wanted. I was under the assumption at this point that I was going to have to pay a lot to customize my perfect dress.
When a friend suggested to try RK bridal because of their huge selection of the dresses and no need for an appointment, I decided to go by myself in the middle of the week to ease my mind about dress shopping.
Sheryl helped me and listened to exactly what I wanted! She brought me many choices that were what I was describing, and then remembered at the end of the appointment of one more dress that was EXACTLY what I was describing. When I put the dress of my dreams on, it fit me exactly in all the right places, and was the dress I have been trying to customize in my head all along. Also, this dress is the least expensive dress I have tried on in all my of searching!
There was no pressure to purchase on the spot, and she also didn't rush me through the appointment.
I can't wait to wear my dress on the day of my wedding!
Recommend this place to try a lot of dresses on to get an idea of what you're looking for. Appointment is not needed and you can avoid getting sucked in by some of the boutiques.
A friend told me she fell in love with a dress but it was too expensive and then she found it at RK on sale. So, I decided to give it a shot. I brought my cousin with me on a random weekday and the place was relatively empty. As we walked in, my cousin pulled up reviews and they were less than stellar. WAY LESS. Downright terrible. MY experience was the polar OPPOSITE. Our wait time was practically non-existent and my attendant, Cheryl (Sheryl?) was uh-MAZING! She was friendly, efficient, and her knowledge of their selection of dresses (in the thousands) was astounding.
I had 3 favorites and needed to think it over and visit another shop or two before I committed to such an investment. It was a year before my wedding. I had time. I subsequently went to Bijou Bridal and I wont waste your time with how bad and pretentious it was but I tried on the dress I fell in love with there. There was no question - I was going back to RK to give them my business (and Cheryl a commission). It was 6 months later, on President's Day, and the place was teeming with brides. Cheryl remembered me. Six months, THOUSANDS of brides later. No one ever remembers me. I was impressed.
DO NOT GO ON THE WEEKENDS. DO NOT GO ON BANK HOLIDAYS. EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER IS THERE. AND YES, IT WILL MAKE YOUR EXPERIENCE AWFUL AND NEAR UNBEARABLE. Pick a Wednesday at 2p or something like that. It will make all the difference...if you ask for Cheryl. Case in point: I accompanied my best friend for her wedding recently. We got there right when it opened and there was no wait. HOWEVER, the attendant was not very helpful. Didn't seem to know the inventory and couldn't really think outside the box. With Cheryl, she will bring you things that will look good on you that you havne't seen nor realize that it will look good on you. Just go to her. she'll nail it. thanks cheryl!
Bravo to RK's Azia who helped my daughter find her wedding dress yesterday! We were wary of RK because of its size--its a bit like a dress warehouse with thousands of gowns all out in the open. But our consultant Azia listened carefully to my daughter's preferences and very quickly helped her find the perfect dress within her price range. Although this store doesn't have the cushioned feel of a boutique, the warmth and graciousness Azia brought to the process made it really personalized. And the price was great!!
Thanks to RK Bridal my dress was amazing and I looked even more beautiful than I envisioned. My consultant was Sheryl and she was awesome. My bridesmaid and I had a blast spending a few hours with her. She was so much fun and truly knows her stuff. It was thanks to her that I found my dress, after trying on a few that I wasn't crazy about she asked me to describe my dream dress, i did and within 5 minutes she walked back in with it ! that was the dress I said yes to and it was the perfect dress for me.
My tailor was Juan and he was absolutely amazing. I am typically a very nervous person but he made me fell 100% at ease. I trusted him and he had a major task on my dress. I wound up losing a lot of weight and he had to take over 7 inches off my dress. You would have never know that my dress went through so much work it looked flawless. Juan made every fitting fun and relaxing and took my input every step of the way.
All the staff at RK Bridal was super helpful and a pleasure to work with.
RK bridal staff was friendly. My consultant and her associates were great. I told her what I wanted she listened and then she recommended a few.I tried on 7 dresses.By dress 4 I knew exactly what I was going to buy. I don't remember her name, but she was Jamaican! Great experience!!
If you are like me, you are a bride on a budget with a specific style in mind. Go to RK Bridal! I visited a few other boutiques and was literally told in one that I had to spend 3x my budget to get what I wanted. Not so! I lucked out and was placed with Jo, a bridal consultant who put together my whole ensemble (which cost significantly less than my initial budget!!). This place is a well-oiled machine. Just be sure to go during the week or off hours--I've heard it's a zoo on the weekends.
First of all, I worked with Cheryll, i can't be sure that's the spelling of her name. But I went there Friday, september 26th and just had such a great experience there! Cheryll knew EXACTLY what looked best on me, and the manager was so nice and helpful, the whole staff there was and is amazing! I didn't buy my dress right away because I had an appointment at kleinfields that same day, but I'm telling you.. RKBridal has the best selection for the best prices. Girls go there if you're looking for your dress! Btw, I went back that same day after kleinfields 30minutes before it was to close, and they even kept the store open for me until i had ordered my dress and gotten everything taken care of! Amazing! Much love and my best to you, Alba!
If I could wear my dress every day, I would! It was truly the perfect wedding dress and I could not have asked for a better experience in finding it at RK Bridal. Lisa was our consultant and if there is a way that you can get her (unfortunately you can't make an appointment, it's walk in only so get there early!), trust me, you are in good hands. I described what I thought I was looking for and the frustrating experiences that I had at the 4 previous stores I went to and she immediately knew the dress she wanted me to try. She asked that I let her go and pull a few dresses before I ventured out to look. I was happy to oblige this request- RK Bridal is a huge NYC warehouse style location filled with more dresses than you can imagine. It was definitely intimidating. When Lisa came back with that a handful of dresses, each prettier than the next, I knew I was in good hands. I put on the dress that she initially described and she was right, perfect. I tried on a few others just to make sure, but there was not doubt that Lisa helped me find my perfect dress. Thank you, Lisa!
My experience there was good only because of Janice. The other ladies who helped the brides with their dresses, looked like they didn't want to be there even though the store just opened up for the day. Every time I came to RK, janice always had a smile on her face and was very helpful. The dress prices are good compared to a lot of other places I went to. They have a wide variety of wedding dresses. Looking for the dresses can be a bit of a headache, but worth it. It's best to get to RK as soon as the doors open up, because there is a line (on weekends). Dress arrived way before the expected arrival date, which was a plus for me.
I got my dress at a great price the alteration were done perfectly i couldnt have asked for anything better. the lady that helped me pick it out just knew it was for me (olga)
This place can get a little crazy, but we went first thing in the morning on a Saturday. We were not rushed and our consultant was fantastic. She took all my inspiration photos, brought me some of those exact dresses, and then found me one in a similar style that she thought I would love - and I did. It's actually the dress I bought.
I highly recommend this boutique!!
First, let me say that RK is the place to go to shop for a wedding. The selection can't be beat and the staff is so helpful and friendly. Sure, its kind of a mad house on weekends and you have to rummage through tightly packed dresses but I betcha you'll leave out of there with a dress you love. I had the good fortune to be matched with Sheryl when I visited RK. She is AMAZING! She took one look at the dresses I found for myself and told me right away if they were going to work for me or not. Of course I tried them on anyway and of course they didn't work out. So she asked me what I was trying to achieve and I told her. She said "I have the perfect thing for you." She came back with a beautiful Sophia Tolli gown and it was love at first sight! I knew it was true when I came out the room and my bff and mom started crying. Lol. Once I had it on, I didn't want to take it off. I didn't get the dress that day because I wanted to try Kleinfeld (that's just how I am). But when my experience there didn't ring any bells (its all hype), I knew I had to go back to RK and get my dress.
I went to Davids Bridal first just to check them out.. I feel like that's a given starting point. Then I went to RK to get down to business, then I went to Kleinfeld for the TV experience. SO that's what I suggest brides do. You'll see the full spectrum of wedding dresses that way. But no place other than RK has Sheryl. I am forever indebted to that woman. She has pictures of happy brides she dressed all over her wall and I'm one of them!
I had a great experience here buying my dress - Olga who helped me was amazing and helped pick out the perfect dress for me. I would have given RK Bridal 5 stars had I just purchased the dress there; however, I'm only giving it 3 stars because the alterations process was HORRIBLE. On multiple occasions the alterations I had requested were not completed and I had to come in for an additional appointment, and even once wait in the waiting area while the alterations were completed during that time. The seamstress working on my dress didn't speak English and I had a very difficult time trying to communicate what needed to be done (not to mention as a seamstress she should have known that the dress needed to be taken in and shortened when she saw me pulling it up and tripping all over it). I would have been OK with the additional appointments and initial frustrations; however, after signing off on final alterations, they decided to cut one of the layers of tulle for some reason, without my approval, and when I tried the dress on at home (2 hours from RK Bridal) just 5 days before the wedding, I realized the last minute unapproved alterations made my dress fall differently, and was now too long. Luckily, I had an amazing tailor I went to up by my house who was able to work her magic and work nonstop taking off the lace and reapplying it to shorten the dress just days before the wedding. We have tried to email and call RK Bridal to ask why they would make any changes after my final sign-off and they have yet to respond. It caused so much unnecessary stress in the days leading up to the wedding. You can get some great deals here, but do NOT plan to get alterations done here.
RK Bridal was highly recommended to me by friends and coworkers. This was my fourth and final bridal salon. It's hard to describe my experience, it's something that you have to experience for yourself. I had the pleasure of working with Janice!!! Boy did I get lucky. Mrs Janice was kind, beautiful and exceeded my expectations. I went to RK Bridal with photocopies of the dresses that I wanted to try. Only three where available. I walked into the fitting room with Mrs. Janice and showed her what I was hoping for. She brought two more styles that were somewhat similar. I told her I didn't want any embellishments. She said ok what would u like? I told her a lace vintage fitted dress. She said, ok I have something in mind.. She returned with my dream dress!!! She was very quiet and said " try this one". I did and I didn't want to get excited just in case it wasn't the one. BUT IT WAS. Mrs Janice was smiling we hugged and I gave her a huge kiss! She said, please look for the other dresses because I found this one for you. I went home and I couldn't forget my dress! I returned a few days to Mrs Janice. I purchased the Marisa 898 dress! RK Bridal was extremely organized with paperwork, appointments and they provided excellent customer service. I was fortunate to work with FRI.She works in the fitting department. She always had a smile on her face. And even took pics for my dad. She was always kind and always put me at ease!! My alterations lady was NINA. She too is amazing, funny and very talented. Janice, FRI and Nina were always happy to see me. They provided me with advice and always put me at ease. I am looking foward to seeing them after the wedding! I plan to give them a thank you card of my wedding day. I am so glad that I had this blessed experience. Janice was so amazing she even met my dad at one of my dress fitting appointments. FRI was also amazing because she was always excited about the gowns and the brides she attends too! She also remembers details about our previous conversation. Nina is an outstanding seamstress! Please request her. She has your best interest in mind and will always give you her honest opinion. This is the best bridal salon in my opinion! Tip: you have to know what you are looking for. The store looks like a giant warehouse. Please look at the website and print out the dress you like. This will help you and the bridal attendant.
RK bridal is great if you know what youre looking for, or at least the designer. The layout is not great for browsing, but if you look online before you arrive your experience will be a breeze. My bridal attendant Jo was fantastic. She took one look at my body and my three dress selection and found dozens of beautiful dresses perfect for me. I only planned to buy one and ended up with two. The fittings afterward were,a breeze and it was a no stress process.
I had a fantastic experience at RK Bridal. I was a little hesitant about here because I had read some bad reviews before I went but I have to say the opposite to these reviews. I went there early on a Saturday morning and was taken pretty much straight away. I never felt pressured at any point to buy a dress. I went back another day to purchase my dress with the help of Olga. Alterations were great. Joe-Beth worked with me to accommodate my appointments around my work schedule.
The place is very crowed and old fashioned but they are moving to a new location very soon.
