We wanted a hotel venue because both of our families would be traveling to come to our wedding so we wanted a place where everyone could be together.
I visited the venue a bunch of times and made appointments with the event coordinator. She was helpful, but never went above and beyond. It's not that I expected her to do anything amazing, but sometimes I would ask her a question and she did respond, but never offered a solution or another vendor or anything else to be helpful. She always responded to my emails, but not always in a timely manner. Overall, she was a nice woman.
The day-of coordinator was not good though. Luckily, my friend took over and saved the day and me from a lot of stress. The day of coordinator is probably overworked and underpaid so I can sympathize a little, but she really had no clue what was going on. Three days before the wedding, she emailed me to tell me that certain set-ups I discussed with the event coordinator at the month before meeting could not be accommodated. I could understand if they told me the month before when we met, but I was assured that they could do the things I asked, like set up the place cards. It wasn't anything crazy, so I was surprised to get that email, which added unwanted stress as all my guests were arriving in town. Had I known the month before, I could have planned for that, but three days is crazy.
We did a small event the night of the rehearsal dinner on the patio of the Event's center near the River Rock Lounge. This event was through the River Rock Lounge as guests would be able to purchase drinks from a cocktail waitress, so the manager we were told to contact was Lorenzo. He was the most awful person I have ever worked with. He lied and told us things that he did not deliver on. He changed things up the day before the event. When we first met to set all of this up, he told us if we held the event on the patio, we could have it till any time that night. The day before, I got an email saying we had to be out by 10pm so he could set it up for beer pong. I figured if there was 60+ people there, he would hold off. Boy, was I wrong. He hovered at the door starting at 9:30pm. He made my guests and myself extremely uncomfortable. A family member kindly asked him if we could pay extra money to be there till 11pm. He said, "no, it's not about money, it's about respect." We weren't being rude so I couldn't believe he had the audacity to say that. We were paying customers too! He is horrible and if you are doing any events through the River Rock Lounge, rethink it and then don't, unless he's not working there anymore. He upset me so much that I will never go there again.
On a lighter note, the Wedding ceremony the next day was beautiful. The set-up looked great. The reception was nice, but had a few bumps. The bartenders were extremely rude. A few people told me that when they ordered a drink, the bartenders rolled their eyes or made a noise. This was upsetting.
The food was good and the wait staff got it out in a timely manner, but no one really smiled or seemed friendly. I understand they probably do this all the time, but a simple thing like a smile on your face, can go a long way.
The hotel was also just okay. I didn't think they went above and beyond either.
There's a reason it's affordable for a hotel venue when compared to other hotels. It's a pretty venue, so pictures are great, but if you're looking for great service, don't go here. You get mediocrity.
I can not express how pleased I am with Sportmen's Lodge!! They were amazing! We came and went at least 40 times before the wedding. Everyone was so helpful. The day-of, everything went off without a hitch! Location was stunning!! The outside ceremony was put together so beautifully! Their landscaping is priceless! Inside reception was also beautifully put together and the food was spectacular! Price is reasonable!
It is an elegant place but restrooms are upstairs and takes a while to get to. Food is good and service was great. Only complaint was the misinformation given to me at first, it is much pricier than what they first informed me .
Everything was wonderful! The events staff was superb from beginning to end. From the moment we visited Sportsmen's to the end of our night the staff was helpful, professional, efficient, and ready to please. Melissa, the overall coordinator was a dream to work with. The one little thing that wasn't perfect was our Tri-Tip was tough. But that's it!!! Otherwise it was AWESOME!!!
The Sportsmen's Lodge Events Center was great. They were easy to work with (Melissa Saldibar). Let us get in and set-up early. Opened the bar 15 min. early since we finished the ceremony a little early. Alcohol was poured very generously. Food was amazing. Wait staff was awesome. No one booked the room next to ours and they offered it up to us for FREE to use for our cocktail hour, cake and gift tables. That was going way beyond our expectations and made for a beautiful evening. The food was also quite good. Probably my only complaints (there's always something) were that they got the grooms name wrong (minor typo - Mario vs. Marko) on the sign directing people where to go and the person who makes the sign was not around to fix it. Also, since multiple events are going on at the same time you've got a fairly limited window to perform the ceremony before guests of other events start intruding, although they do block off the area during your event to ensure minimal conflicts. Overall, this was an incredible venue at an amazing affordable price in Los Angeles (Studio City).
The hotel has had some exterior renovation, but rooms are still not up to par. Door lock was broken, our officiants room was broken into. Poor service in cafe.
This is a beautiful venue. The food got rave reviews from my guests and the staff is very helpfull. I highly reccomend it to any bride!
This venue was recently renovated and reopened back in October 2009. The place has a retro feel (it was built in the Hollywood golden era) with a freshly painted modern palette.
The venue is a little kische, but in a good way. The prices are very reasonable. The bulk of your expense will be covered under the catering. Which was excellent. I am always disappointed with mass produced banquet fare, but they actually did a great job. We got a lot of positive praise on the food from our guests. Overall we had a really beautiful experience.
The service was hit or miss. It all ended up great in the end, but we did have to do a little stern talking to the venue to make sure we had everything in line to run smoothly.
Having my wedding ceremony & reception at the sportsmen's Lodge was a dream come true for me. It has this classy new vintage feel to it. The staff was super sweet and easy to work with. They took care of the fine details so that I wouldn't have to worry about a thing the day of.
I still have guest tell me how much they loved the food which made us very happy because a lot of the time you pay lots of money for food and it doesn't even taste good. We highly recommend the Sportsmen's Lodge.
I am very please with how our wedding turned out at the Sportsmen's Lodge Event Center. The garden was beautiful and did not overpower the speakers during the ceremony. The catering stuff was absolutely amazing. So extremely attentive, courtesy, thorough. Jose and his staff our incredible :) I could not have asked for better service and food!
The venue has been renovated and it looks amazing. Modern twist on what a typical lodge should be. We didn't have a tasting because they just reopened and they don't have a restaurant, however the food turned out great .. . better then I expected. Our guests loved it. Service from the waiters was very good and they were accommodating, however the head captain was extremely strict (timeline) when we were told that he would adhear to any last minute timeline changes. He was strictly by the book and what contract said. Other then that, we had a very positive experience and an amazing wedding.
My husband and I really liked the Sportsmen's Lodge, we decided to use it as our wedding venue as a last resort. It turned out to be a good idea. Most of our guests were from out of town and were able to stay at the hotel. The rooms aren't the best but in the valley there aren't many options. They are priced within range of every other hotel, and their food was really good. They didn't offer us any extras though, and the coordinator that worked for the hotel made a pass at my husband. All things aside the guests had a good time and so did we.
Since the hall is associated with a restaurant they have various dinner options at affordable prices. Also the hall looked elegant because of the high ceilings and chandeliers throughout the venue. There was a man made petite waterfall pond and bridges outside- ideal for taking pictures or just strolling. Finally they have tons of parking so that guests don't have go looking for any.;You can opt for valet or self parking. Let guests know that they don't have to pay for valet. Due to the parking lot set-up all guests valeted their cars when they didn't have to.
The ballroom was very spacious, elegant and beautiful.

Our overall wedding was, BLESSED BEYOND MEASURE!!! God truly blessed us with a day full of love, family, beauty, sunshine, and elegance. Our reception venue featured beautiful Australian black and white swans; ducks; and coy fish. There were waterfalls, lights, and white Christmas trees, that were perfect for our winter wedding. Our floral decor was absolutely fabulous! Our bouquets and arrangements included roses, lilies, hydrangeas, and orchids that were affixed with pearls and swaroski crystals.
