MY VENUE WAS PERFECT! THE FOOD WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD. Everyone loved the cake and the staff was super friendly. My day was perfect!
From the bottom of my heart ,I would like to thank Mr. Billy & Mr.Ricky ,the banquet managers of terrace on the park where i had my small Egyptian wedding party (32 guests) in the oak room on September 21,2012 .. I really appreciate mr.Billy ‘s courtesy to accommodate us although it is a small party.. Briefly, please allow me to share my beyond expectations experience.. The place was phenomenal …the service was excellent and the entire crew was super friendly and made our day so special … food was so delicious.. I was so happy when Mr.Billy showed up in the wedding to salute us.. That was so sweet of him … everything is 10 stars.. Thank you guys :o))
I would have given Terrace on the Park 5 stars, heck 10 - they were awesome in all ways except one: 30 minutes before our wedding was over, while kissing guests, Norm, the banquet manager approached my groom and berated him over not having tipped appropriately. Norm was outrageously brazen and nasty about it - and the worst was we had every intention of tipping, its just that the party wasn't over yet!
Other then that though, they were amazing. Every appointment was quick and easy. The food was incredible. We had a 12 page menu presented to us as the standard package and we took it with only a few changes (we requested no meat in our salads, and we changed one of the entrees to salmon with dill sauce - which was phenomenal). Our guests were blown away with the food - the presentation (pretty garnishes, varying heights, they provided some flowers, etc), the taste, the variety, and the abundance. Several guests thought cocktail hour was dinner it was so much food! My bridal attendants made sure to put lots of cocktail food aside for me in my bridal room so I wouldn't miss out.
The room itself (penthouse) was stunningly beautiful so we only needed minimal decor. The only downside to the room is its all windows, so our photographer had to pose some guests because traditional table shots would have had too much glare. No biggie, but don't seat elderly or handicapped at window tables.
We loved having the terrace even though it was a bit cold outside, as we had many guests who smoked. They were able to stay near the festivities yet be outside smoking. The view from the terrace was breathtaking, enjoyed by locals and out of towners.
We took advantage of the park and Unisphere for posed photos. Its about a 10 minute walk when walking slowly, and easy. We just stood on the grass with the Unisphere centered behind us, and the pictures look great!
We used the hotel recommended (Marriott Courtyard LaGuardia) because we were told we could get a shuttle bus for guests (no drunk driving). The hotel was pretty, and nearby, but they did not provide us a shuttle - the Monday before the wedding they said it wasn't available. They offered to coordinate car service for guests but we had to provide exact numbers and exact times, which was a burden and a hassle. And it was priced at over $200 to do it.
We did not use the house florist. They were rude when I wanted information (basic pricing, hours, etc) via email prior to making an appointment. I didn't want to start with an appointment because they were very inconveniently located in Brooklyn with no parking lot. Their website indicated wedding packages *started* at $2,000. I used a local florist and got an amazing package for $1,100.
We got our cake through Terrace on the Park, which means it was just a basic 4 tier, in all white, but it was lovely and more important it was very tasty. We went with vanilla cake, strawberry filling and whipped cream frosting - it was fresh and moist and just really good! They packed up the entire top tier (and a tray of assorted pastries) for us to take home.
Overall I would absolutely recommend Terrace on the Park. Its low stress, beautiful, easy to get to (several of our guests even took the subway) and the staff was friendly and attentive and the food plentiful and tasty. But do be prepared to be directly asked to tip no less then $3 per guest (yes we told that) in cash, and before the party is over, if Norm is there.
Great service, professional staff, great food, beautiful views. AMAZING dessert hour
Our banquet manager - Brian did a great job. He was very easy to work with and accommodating. He went out of his way to satisfy us. The food was very tasty and exquisite. Our guests were treated respectfully and everyone had a great time.
They blew me away with all their courtship. As soon as I walked in I was treated like a queen. I didn't have to do anything. The food was insane and sooo good. Their open bar had everything. The views on the rooftop were beautiful. I definitely had the wedding of my dreams. All of our guests were so thrilled with everything that they want us to plan another wedding joking around. I'm sure our guests will consider Terrace On the Park for their own occasions.
my orig wedding date was aug 27th 2011 which was cxl less tht 24 hrs before the wedding due to hurricane irene. norma called me stating that they will do everything to help me set a new date wich was sep 11th 2011. even though alot of my guest were unable to make the trip twice TOP made my date beautiful and kepot in contact me even until after the wedding. highly recomend.THANKS
We got married in August 2011 in the penthouse which was the first place we visited as we began our hunt for the best wedding venue in Nassau/Queens area. We then visited about 25 other venues only to confirm that the penthouse was indeed the best. They have an awesome outdoor option for cocktail and ceremony, but since our wedding was a washout we quickly found out how awesome their indoor option was also. Our banquet manager Brian was excellent!! He delivered on everything he promised us and was very accommodating. The staff also was very responsive and did everything we asked and for all this I give 5 stars.
Never knew that good service ends as soon as we pay the amount on the wedding day. The worst service ever and especially with the higher up managers. Never in my life have I seen managers yell at the couples family and demand money. I cant even explain how upsetting this place made us on our special day. And it's not just my situation with one managers but with ALL OF THEM. They all were rude to our family and were making things difficult. We spoke to people from the other parties and they were saying the EXACT SAME THING. My recommendation to everyone is to avoid this place.
I am so happy that we chose Terrace on the Park for our wedding. It is absolutely GORGEOUS and the food, staff, and prices was AMAZING. Recommend to everyone!
