I can not say enough positive things about The Desmond. My mom told us about it so we went to check it out. The service from the moment we walked through the door for the tour was outstanding. Communications were amazing. Karen answered all of my questions, eased my mind with any concerns I had and basically made me feel extremely comfortable that on our wedding day I would not have to worry about anything! The day of was perfect. We are still getting compliments from our guests about the outstanding quality of food, customer service and the band (which was a Desmond referral!). I could write a book about the Desmond, seriously worth every single penny! Highly, highly recommend! We can't wait to go back on our 1 year anniversary!
We fell in love with The Desmond way before our daughter even became engaged in August of 2008. We knew this was where we wanted our daughter's wedding to take place. The setting, the food, the service, the sharp attention to even the tiniest details . . . and the list goes on and on--could not have been finer!!! From our very first meeting with the staff in June of 2009 through the week after the wedding (10/24/10), the service and attention we received could not have been more wonderful--and we have been to weddings at many different venues. We received very positive feedback from our guests, and the bride and groom were in heaven and so grateful to everyone at The Desmond for making all their wedding dreams come true. We would not hesitate to use The Desmond again for any special event.
We absolutely loved having our wedding ceremony and reception at the Desmond! Kevin Kessler was a wonderful coordinator. He and his team were so responsive throughout the planning process. Planning a wedding can be an overwhelming task, but we knew we were in good hands and that made the process much easier. The venue itself is both gorgeous and spacious. We had 210 guests and it never felt crowded. The food was wonderful, the banquet service was incredible, and the staff did a great job of keeping things moving. Andy made sure everything flowed smoothly on the day of the wedding and kept track of every little detail for us. We never worried about a thing and he communicated with the band and our photographer throughout the night. We were glad we made the choice to have the ceremony in the ballroom. It was really lovely. The guests stayed at the hotel, which made everything even easier, and we had an after party at the pub. If you're looking for an outstanding venue, I highly recommend checking out The Desmond. They are true experts and we were so happy with the way everything turned out!
My husband and I decided to have our wedding reception at The Desmond back in August. The catch? We were planning our wedding all the way from Georgia. We decided that we wanted to have a 1920's themed wedding, and Karen (the wedding planner at the Desmond) made that happen! At times I thought that some of our requests sounded crazy, yet she was so sweet and got us any and all information we could use. The food was spectacular, as were the servers. The staff at the Desmond made it so easy to plan our big day from out of state. We also felt comfortable referring our guests to "take the elevator home" the night of our wedding because of the awesome rooms. I would definitely recommend The Desmond for any bride that wants easy planning, and spectacular service. There is only one word to describe our experience at the Desmond: AMAZING.

The Desmond is a remarkable venue for a wedding. Our banquet manager made wedding planning delightful with her attentiveness and professionalism. The general manager and staff carried out every detail of our reception in a seamless way. From the delectable cuisine to the grandeur of the ballroom, The Desmond made our wedding day unforgettable. I highly recommend this Chester County charm!
The Desmond was our main hotel for our guests to stay at for our wedding. The bridal suite was gorgeous and perfect for having the bridal party get their hair and makeup done. The hotel staff was extremely attentive to all our needs. Marie and Rachel were instrumental in setting up our wedding block and accommodating as many guests as were possible.
We had our reception at the Desmond (which was AWESOME!), so we had a room rate for the weekend. All of our guests were very happy with the price and their rooms. The Desmond was super accommodating with the reserve by date. I can't recommend the Desmond enough!
They took care of everything! They made the wedding process as simple as possible beforehand and the day-of was a breeze. They handled set up perfectly and they packed everything back up for us at the end of the night and we picked it up in the morning. I couldn't have asked for more!
The Desmond gave us our dream wedding. From our first interaction with the staff to our actual wedding day, everything was perfect. I would give this vendor my absolute highest recommendation.
- Food. Was. DELICIOUS. (The chef even went above and beyond and created a special Cincinnati chili appetizer for us.)
- Karen Eubanks was our wedding planner/day-to-day contact. An absolute dream to work with, she kept everything so well organized, we felt completely comfortable in her hands and confident in her expertise. She went above-and-beyond, coming in on her day off to accommodate my visit from out-of-town and even making perfect suggestions for special touches to hors d’oeuvres, décor, etc.
- Andy Davidson was our Banquet Manager, the day-of-the-wedding coordinator. He was phenomenal. We literally didn’t have to think about a thing; he so smoothly coordinated everything that day. He was practically invisible as he coordinated all of the little details for our reception, then he would show up exactly on time to coach us through the next event (bouquet toss, cake cutting, first dance, etc.). We would have been lost without him.
- Everyone at The Desmond really went above and beyond to make things special for us, and they responded to every question, call, and email as if we were their top priority.
- Guests were so impressed with the venue and food that my parents actually received thank you notes telling them it was the best wedding they had ever been to.
- They have a beautiful conservatory/glassed-in area that makes the perfect spot for a cocktail hour.
- The reception hall itself was perfectly arranged to our exact specifications, and the staff put a lot of work and effort into accommodating all of our special requests (including food stations instead of a sit-down dinner).
- We had an afternoon reception, so we also did an after-party on the outdoor deck behind The Desmond. The same team helped organize this, and it was as perfect as the reception was. Incredible attention to detail (the team moved all of our centerpieces from the reception out to the deck before after party had started without us even thinking to ask), and perfect flow of food and drinks.
- We also used the Desmond shuttles to help transport the bridal party and guests. Worked with Frank Kaczmarski on this, and he was extremely professional and accommodating – even offering to rent additional shuttles when another bus we had booked fell through at the last minute.
- Every member of the staff that we dealt with, from the people mentioned above to the people at the front desk, in reservations, servers at the reception, after-party, and breakfast were top-notch. We could not have asked for a better experience.
We could not have had a more perfect wedding! The staff at the Desmond were more than accommodating. We were very DIY and the staff was very helpful in assembling everything in the ballroom for the event. Every time we had any question big or small Kevin Kessler was more than willing to meet with us and even preordered linens in so we could see them in the ballroom and decide what we wanted. With a lot of picky eaters in attendance, the staff customized the menu with a few pub style hors d'oeuvres for our cocktail hour. We have received nothing but rave reviews from our guests about the staff, food and experience. The day of the staff was extremely helpful and attentive especially Carol, Andy, Kevin Davidson, Karen, and Moreen. The day flowed very well, we especially appreciated the staff giving the parents a "sneak peak" of the ballroom. You truly can not get a better deal in the area!!
The hotel was very friendly and accommodating. After the reception most people remained at the hotel and spent the remainder of the evening in the Fox and Hound Pub inside the hotel and the staff there was warm and friendly. All the guests who stayed the night at the hotel had an enjoyable experience. We can not wait to go back for our first anniversary!
I had used them for a block of rooms for my guests to stay in. Needless to say, my guests had no problems with them, but as a bride I did!
First, when my husband and I took a tour they showed us the executive suite which had a BEAUTIFUL balcony that connected the living area to the sleeping area. Needless to say, we booked that, only to find out when I checked in Friday night they placed us on the first floor which obviously doesn't have a balcony (there went all my get ready shots on a balcony out the window, pun intended). When I went back to the front desk (the guy was rude) to question this, they didn't have another comparable suite available, so they down graded me to a king that did have a balcony. The room was a NIGHTMARE! There were cob webs in the corners, dust bunnies under the desk and nightstand, broken dresser/tv stand, water stains on the ceiling, stains on the canopy bed, piss stains around the toilet, mold in the shower, etc... I didn't want to be a complete pain so I let it go that night and went down to the desk in the morning.
The lady that time was kind enough to transfer me back to the original suite I wanted on the 4th floor with a balcony, but couldn't do so until later that evening since it was already in use. They didn't charge me any extra for that room, which was nice I suppose... but it obviously wasn't already booked so who else would have used it? In all reality, I don't think I should have paid for the first night since it was a complete disaster and as a bride, they made my overall day more complicated... not being able to get ready in a dirty room, had to reschedule my morning of the night before, and then had to re-check in to my room in my wedding dress after my wedding!
I can not put into words how happy my new husband and I were with the Desmond. Our wedding coordinator and all the staff made our experience fun and easy. Their professional was outstanding and every detail was taken care of. I would recommend them to anyone!
The Desmond is a really nice hotel. The staff was very accommodating and easy to work with. They have shuttles that you can rent to go to and from your venue for a reasonable price. If you have enough guests book rooms for your wedding weekend, the bride and groom receive a complimentary room for the night of the wedding. The hotel is also relatively easy to find off the major highways.
All our guests were very happy with their stay at the Desmond. We had alot of people from out of town and they were extremely accomodating and easy to work with. The morning after the wedding I woke up and felt sick- the man at the front desk provided us with medicine, bagels and ginger ale at 5 am. Great service and a great value. We also had the rehearsal dinner there the night before which was a huge success. Would highly recommend the Desmond for any event.
The Desmond Hotel was a great venue for my wedding. The service was wonderful, the people were great, the food was excellent. We have no complaints and they gave us a lot for the money...flowers, cake, room all included with package. Kevin was great to work with and very compliant with our needs and requests.
My wedding here was perfect and beautiful. Not only was it perfect and beautiful, but I felt like they took care of everything!
My husband and I got married on Sept. 10, 2011... we honestly can't say enough great things about the job that everyone at the Desmond did for our wedding. We could have never imagined everything going so smoothly and looking so great... Not to mention, the food! everything they did was perfect! I would HIGHLY recommend having a wedding or any other special event there.
We had 40 guests stay at the Desmond, and everyone was impressed with how lovely and welcoming the staff was. We also used shuttles to provide guests with transportation to and from our reception venue, and they were an economical and safe investment! Two thumbs up all around!
After our wedding was over, we went to the Desmond Hotel for our "after party" and then we, along with many guests spent the night. The Desmond- even though they had 2 other weddings there- provided us with excellent service. We stayed the night and then the next morning we went to brunch. Brunch was about $20 per person and it was disappointing. Not a lot of food options. Brunch is also a buffet style and we were still charged a 20% tip. I would not have minded paying the 20% tip, but our waitress was slow and unaccommodating. The 2 bus boys that were there did more for us than what she did. However, the Desmond is a nice place to stay if you are looking for a place after your wedding is over.
