We recently got married at The Flanders, and all I can say is from our very first consultation and venue walk through, we knew we wanted to get married there. What we didn’t know at the time was how amazing Karen Bergman and Anne Sloane were going to be over the course of our planning and wedding weekend. From the outset, Karen was very informative and readily available to answer the onslaught of questions a newly engaged couple has about weddings.
One of the biggest selling points for us, besides Karen and her team, was the chef. Chef Mike, who led our private tasting, put out some of the best food I’ve had at a wedding. We crafted a menu that was delicious and very accommodating to dietary needs (bride and MOB are gluten-free). Almost all of the cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres ended up being gluten-free. At the tasting, we were informed that the steaks would be cooked to temperature and served with butter knives--a bold statement considering the size of our wedding, but one that was backed up.
As we got closer and closer to our big day, Karen and her team accommodated the needs of our large wedding party (265 guests) most of whom were staying at The Flanders. With nearly 75 rooms booked for the weekend, Dorothy, the front desk manager, handled everything with great care and patience. The rooms were unbelievable and tailored with all the modern amenities you’d need. Our guests were happy with the rooms and the level of service provided through their stay.
We also had our ceremony on the beach outside the hotel and the level of coordination, planning and execution was impressive. If we wanted or needed something to happen, Karen found a way to get it done. My father-in-law is a diabetic amputee with prosthetic leg, and Karen even managed to find a beach runway so he could walk his daughter down the aisle. They will go above and beyond to make your day everything you want it to be.
While the reception seems like a blur, the white-gloved service was exceptional and our guests thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The night went off without a hitch and we owe a lot of that to Karen and the team at The Flanders. They are professional and meticulous in their planning and execution, but always personal and invested in your happiness. I would recommend The Flanders to anyone and everyone that asked.
The moment I walked into The Flanders, I was in LOVE with the antique and vintage decor and the feel of every room I saw! We met Karen, the wedding coordinator, and I was seriously blown away by all that she offered and how personable she was. She listened to my whole vision of wanting an old hollywood 1920s themed wedding and helped me create it from the moment I met her! I knew for sure after meeting her that my wedding was going to be at The Flanders!
Besides Karen being amazing, chef Mike makes THEE most delicious food i've ever had. Especially the filet mignon! I have a gluten allergy, and my mother in law has a bad shellfish allergy. He went out of his way to accommodate us which meant a lot. The entire night of my wedding everything went perfectly. Not one thing went wrong! The ENTIRE Flanders staff was so incredibly great! Extremely friendly, helpful, and always there for us and our guests. I had over 200 people at my wedding and everyone i've seen after has raved about the food and the service, which are HUGE factors in having your dream wedding! We even had Manco and Manco pizza at the end of our wedding which was a hit! We honestly can't be any happier with The Flanders....they went above and beyond to give me my dream wedding!
My husband and I had our wedding at The Flanders on June 26th 2010 and could not have had a more memorable day. Thanks to the beautiful day put together by Karen (thanks Karen) and her wonderful staff!! We were blown away with all the attention to us and all details we wanted to have included. The gray, fuschia, & plum wedding pictures are our wedding and we were blown away by everything The Flanders did to pull that off. The next day my husband and I said to each other "Let's do it again!". And that really had so much to do with our venue. Thanks again to all the hard work put into our special day. Anyone thinking of having their big day here, you will not regret it at all.
The Flanders hotel made our wedding weekend spectacular. From their hospitality to Karen and staff putting everything in motion. We had an amazing day and we are happy that you let us start our lives in such a spectacular way.
I can not thank Karen Bergman and her staff enough for the best day/night of our life! Karen is the reason we chose this location for our beach ceremony! Not to take away from the most beautiful venue but really Karen is the best! Not all went smooth during the entire wedding planning process but it was quickly resolved by Karen and her team! The food... Amazing! Thanks chef! The venture beautiful! The service....top notch! Hotel suites were fantastic!
My husband and I got married at the Flander's Hotel in August 2013. We had our ceremony on the beach directly in front of the hotel and the cocktail hour and reception immediately following in the hotel. As crazy and as nervous as I was, Karen and Anne made everything less stressful. They made sure everyone was where they needed to be at every minute and that the entire day (not just night!) went smoothly. Guests are still talking about how great the food was, how beautiful the cocktail hour was, how stunning the ballroom was and how much fun they had in the gorgeous setting! Flanders truly gave us the magical feeling on our wedding day!!! 8/913 💕💓
My husband and I were married at the Flanders Hotel on 9/21/13. From the moment we checked in on Thursday, we were treated like royalty. Our rehearsal dinner was held in the Garden Room on 9/20 and it was spectacular. With station style food, an amazing event space, and attentive wait staff...it was the perfect evening. On our wedding day, everything was exactly how we pictured it...and then MORE!Enough cannot be said for the hard work that Karen and Ann put into making our wedding perfect, down to the smallest detail. Our beach ceremony was gorgeous and the reception space was spectacular. It truly was the wedding of our dreams. The food was delicious! Chef Mike met with us during our tasting and customized our menu, including special touches that incorporated our favorite foods. The entire wedding planning process was easier from start to finish...and especially on our big day, knowing that Karen and Ann were there to support us and give us exactly the wedding that we wanted. I cannot thank the entire staff at the Flanders Hotel enough for giving us the most amazing wedding weekend. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride looking for to host an elegant, fun, and memorable wedding.
My daughter's wedding was a dream. The Flanders provided a top notch venue for both the service and the reception. The food was delicious, the service was top notch. My guests loved the white gloves! I received so many compliments that it was the best wedding they had ever attended.
We tried to keep it very "Ocean City", using all local vendors.
The day goes so fast; wish we could do it all over again.
The food was amazing. All the employees did a wonderful job. Their coordinator Karen does an amazing job at making sure you get what you want. All my guest had a wonderful time and told me how beautiful the place was.
I highly recommend the Flanders Hotel as a wedding and or wedding reception destination. Everything from the beach wedding to the reception was exceptional. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would like to thank them for making our wedding so wonderful. We also received many compliments from our friends and family! Thank you again and we highly recommend your establishment.
Everything was great. Highly recommend to future brides and grooms
The Flanders Hotel is truly full service!!
The food provided through the Flanders was DELISCIOUS! We opted for the Filet and Crab Cakes - you could cut the filet with a butter knife and the crab cakes are all crab no filler - The cocktail hour and stations were huge hits and everyone complimented the food! You have a tasting with your caterer and you always assume the day of food will be slightly less great but not at the Flanders I think it was even better on the day of our wedding! The pastries included in the package were great and really capped off the meal!
I can not begin to say how amazing our wedding ceremony and celebration were at The Flander's - It has been my dream my whole life to have my big day there and it was even more then I could have asked for. They were responsive, enjoyable to work with and executed my thousands of vintage ideas in a way that made me feel overwhelmed in the best way possible! Karen, Anne, and the rest of the team, especially our Maitre'D, Jody - made our day perfect and stress free - So many people told us that we looked happy and not stressed which is unusual for a the bride :-) - I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a beautiful wedding at the beach!
Karen and crew at The Flanders were absolutely FABULOUS!!! I can't say enough about how wonderful everything was for our wedding day!!
The food was excellent and our family and friends raved about it. We also had our rehearsal dinner at The Flanders and that was amazing as well. Karen felt like family and the service from all the staff was exceptional!!! The Flanders truely made this the best day of our lives!!! Thank you so much to Karen and her wonderful staff and big props to the CHEF!!!!!
We had the best experience working with the Flanders for our wedding! We could not have asked for more helpful and caring staff members! We did not have to worry about a thing; everything was taken care of for us! We were able to enjoy our beautiful wedding!! We would highly recommend the Flanders to any couple looking for a gorgeous vintage venue, with delicious food (our guests did not stop raving about the dinner!), and amazing service! Our dream wedding came true :)
The Flanders made all of our Wedding Dreams come true! A HUGE thank you to the event coordinator, Karen Bergman, for a flawless wedding experience from beginning to end and to Chef Michael Druker for preparing an outstanding menu specific to my guests needs! We received so many compliments from our guests! Me and my husband were married in Jamaica in August 2012 and we wanted to have a wedding celebration for all of our family and friends who could not be with us. We celebrated our marriage on November 24, 2012 at the Flanders. I told Karen that I wanted to make our guests feel like they were a part of our wedding in Jamaica. Karen worked closely with me and my husband to make that happen! We showed our wedding video with vows on a large screen before we were introduced into the room! It was absolutely amazing. Our Banquet captain, Linda Smith and the Banquet Staff paid extra attention to detail to ensure that our night was nothing short of amazing. The service was excellent. My water glass was always full and I didn’t have to ask for anything! They were always there! The first course and entrée was delivered in a very timely and efficient manner. Perfect! I can’t thank them enough. The bartender, John Spera, is not only a bartender, he is a mixologist! He prepared any special drink request from my guests and even called for a special bottle for the groom on a moment’s notice! There is no request that the Flanders staff could not accommodate. They made me and my husband feel like King and Queen for our special day. We did not want this night to end. A majority of our guests stayed in the Hotel at the Flanders and raved even more. The hotel works with you and gives you and your guests a special rate depending upon the season. If you forget your something old, something new & blue, don't worry, the Flanders has several boutique shops filled with all kinds of goodies for your special day. One of our guests’ told us that they had been to seven weddings throughout the year and ours was by far the best. We owe that to an incredible job well done by the Flanders and Staff! The Flanders Banquet & Conference is the TOTAL PACKAGE for a dream wedding! Thank you for a night we will never forget!
Karen at The Flanders went over and beyond for my wedding. She made everything stress free and top notch. The Flanders looked absolutley beautiful thanks to Karen and her staff. The food was awesome as well. So happy I had my wedding there...it was like a fairytale! Thank you from the bottom of my heart Karen!!
Our wedding was on 9/22. We were pleased with the food however there were things that should have been done better. First, we paid ahead of time for parking ($10/car) for all of our guests. The parking attendant with the passes was no where to be found. After my mother alerted the front desk they said they would correct it. Then after more guests came to her said they had to still pay (including my in-laws) they said they couldn't find him! Therefore our guests had to pay $10 to park. Next, while we are walking out the door for the church, Karen called up to the room to say that the gold sash we picked for the chairs she "didn't think looked good" and changed it to black. REALLY I'm walking out to door to the church and you are calling now?!?! So she changed it herself. We, of course, still paid for it. The reception was amazing and we really enjoyed ourselves. However at the end after Karen left, we literally got shoved out the door. The woman in charge even stepped on my dress twice. We could not even say thank you and good bye to our guests. We also paid for breakfast the next day for 100 people at Emily's Ocean Room. This was planned and paid for ahead of time so you would think that staff would have prepared for it. Nope, we were not so lucky! My husband and I, along with many guests, waited over 30 minutes to get seated in a restaurant with over 10 empty tables. Why? we have no idea. Plus they only had 2 waitresses on staff. Again I have no idea why we booked and paid for the breakfast ahead of time because it was not prepared for properly. We really did have a great wedding however I was not so picky in the planning because I figured they would follow my instructions because that was their job. I guess I should have been a "bridezilla" and maybe I would have gotten the wedding I planned for. My mother has called to discuss these errors yet, surprisingly, after 6 weeks no response.
The Flanders Hotel was a beautiful place for a wedding ceremony/ reception. We had our ceremony in their "Garden Room" and the reception in the main ball room. Over all everything was beautiful, service was good (for the most part) and food was excellent. At times I felt as if we were being "nickle and dimed" for every small thing which was somewhat disheartening given the fact that we spent almost $27,000 at The Flanders alone- when spending this amount of money it's insulting to have to pay a $200 "coordination" fee or $3/ chair "chair rental" fee (just some examples). During our reception their were a couple of unfriendly waitresses who yelled at my husband and I for not following their directions (RIDICULOUS!), but aside from that service was good. At the end of the night, the service people were in such a hurry to clean up that we never received the left over cake and several of our guest's favors (champagne bottles with their names on them) were taken away. Aside from these few negatives, I thought the Flanders did a great job overall and would probably use them again, but would be a little more assertive.
My guests were very pleased. Setting was appropriate. Would recommend. Just wish the staff was more kind and responsive.
I married my husband on September 8th 2012 at the Flanders and it was beyond perfect. Prior to picking the venue, we did a comprehensive search of wedding venues in the area and visited 10 or so different places but Flanders was always at the top of our list. The Flanders had everything we wanted: a great location by the beach, beautiful ballroom, huge dance floor, and the wedding coordinator Karen was very on top of things and helpful from day one answering our questions and making sure everything went as smoothly as possible. When it came down to the wedding day, everything went as planned and the what I was able to taste of the food was delicious (being the bride I was quite busy and sitting to eat wasn't my priority haha). My only complaint was that the day went by too fast and we would like to do it all over again! Thanks again to Karen and Flanders staff for everything to make our event wonderful! We continue to get compliments about how much fun our guests had our wedding.
