I'm recently married and had my wedding reception at The State Room. The entire day was perfect and went so smoothly. The day started when Tom picked my mom and I up where we were getting ready to bring us to the church in the car we selected (he has several antique cars for couples to choose from to use the day of the wedding). Before walking down the aisle, Tom helped keep me focused and calm. After the mass, he coordinated where we were having our pictures taken with the photographer and drove us from spot to spot. Before being introduced into the reception, Tom arranged food for us to eat (and that goodness, because there wasn't much time to eat once the party started!!). The rest of the night was absolute perfection. Everyone was raving about the food (make sure your guests pace themselves---there's lots of food!). The bar was easily accessible and there was never a line to get a drink. The servers were well coordinated and everyone was given each course at the same time. Brides--look no further! The State Room is the best wedding venue in upstate NY!

We had both our reception and ceremony at the State Room on 8.3.2013. The wedding was incredible thanks to everyone at the State Room! Tom and Eric treated us like family on our big day and went above and beyond to make every detail of the wedding perfect! I have been getting constant emails, text messages and phone calls raving about the event and the food! I am so grateful to the State Room for providing us with a perfect day that went so smoothly. The food, service and attention to detail was above and beyond my expectations. I cant thank Tom, Eric and all of the staff at the State Room enough! Our wedding was so fun and The State Room made sure it was stress free and perfect! I cant recommend the State Room enough and hope every bride getting married in the area at least looks at the venue. Once we walked into the State Room and met the staff we knew we needed to get married there. We love the State Room!!!!!!!!!!

I had my wedding here on July 5, 2013. Saying it was great is an understatement. Tom and his staff go out of their way to make your day perfect. No question is too absurd, nor concern too minuscule. They will make your day exactly how you want it...and then take it up a notch. At my welcome party, everyone kept commenting about how calm I was. I told them, just wait until you experience tomorrow (@ the State Room) and you will understand why. I seriously did not have one concern about my wedding going perfectly; I knew Tom and Eric would make sure it was amazing. They are family for the day and will make sure you day is 'over the top' and you feel like a princess. I would wholeheartedly recommend The State Room to any bride to be!!!

Finding a venue was the number one to-do after we got engaged. The State Room was our first visit and the bar was set very high that day. Our first impressions were that the space was beautiful and unique. It fit our vintage-y theme perfectly. Meeting the owner Tom was the icing on the cake. What a guy! He exudes positive energy and is the type of person you just want to be around. Even after our first meeting we felt secure in Tom's hands. The other venues we visited had nothing on the State Room so we set up another meeting as soon as possible to pick our date. Even a year and two months before the next summer season (when we wanted to get married) was all booked! That's how good The State Room is. We were lucky to get a spot when another couple had to postpone their wedding to a later date. Everything was falling into place.
Throughout the entire planning process the State Room was there. We worked mostly with Tom and Eric. They both returned emails extremely promptly, were available for phone calls daily and were more than willing to set up meetings in order to keep us feeling comfortable. They took great care of us and made planning a wedding, normally quite a confusing undertaking, make sense.
On June 15, 2013 everything Tom said about 'enhancing our wedding' and making our 'vision' come true happened. From start to finish it was perfect. Tom was with us at my parent's house before the wedding, drove us to the church and stuck with us through pictures before cocktail hour. He kept things fun, upbeat and organized. When we finally arrived at the State Room he wowed us with a plethora of appetizers, way more than we had ever expected. The State Room staff was right there to offer us beverages and to help us in any way necessary. It was a feeling we've never had before, almost like we were royalty.
As promised, Tom and his staff took care of everything throughout the entire reception. They kept us on schedule and made the evening flow seamlessly. The guests are still raving about how wonderful everything was. The food, atmosphere and staff were all top notch. I don't think my new husband and I stopped smiling all night.
We, without a doubt, recommend the State Room to future brides and grooms. It was absolutely the best decision we could have made and we can truly say that June 15th was the best day of our lives.

I was recommended to the State Room by a family friend and the moment I stepped into the venue I fell in love. The white pillars, huge dance floor, big windows, and downtown setting were an immediate sell. The room definitely sells itself, but everything that came with the venue really made it all worth it. I primarily worked with Tom and Eric and they were amazing. They made the whole wedding planning process easy. They provided an incredible list of vendors and were so helpful with mapping out the day and making sure we had everything planned to make it a seamless and fun wedding. Tom has so much wedding experience and was always one step ahead, helping us plan out things we would never have thought of. Eric was also amazing and was really great at listening to what I wanted, understanding it, and executing. They were both such a pleasure to work with and were so accommodating to work with since I was living out of town. On my wedding day, everything fell into place. There was not one thing I would change. I think the biggest thing for me, was that I truly got to enjoy my reception because Tom and his team work like a well oiled machine. The evening went on seamlessly and it was all because of the State Room staff – from the bartenders, to the wait staff, to Tom & Eric. They were amazing. I would highly recommend this venue, the food, staff and quality of service to anyone!

This was the first place my husband and I looked at and we only looked at 1 other place after that and we knew from the beginning that the State room was going to be the best place to get married. Our wedding truly was a fairytale. Tom and the staff go above and beyond. If you are looking to get married in the capital area the State room is the BEST place : )

We knew right from our first meeting that The State Room was the place for us to have our wedding reception. We were promised the best food, staff, and ambiance, and that is what we got - that and so much more! The State Room treats you like family and goes above and beyond to make your wedding day so incredibly special.
There was not one moment throughout our planning process that we had a worry or doubt about our reception at The State Room. We could just tell that we were in good hands, and that the professionalism and courtesy delivered by the staff was top notch.
We truly could not have asked for a better wedding and would whole-heartedly recommend The State Room to anyone looking for a wonderful place to have a wedding!

Our wedding day more amazing than we could have ever imagined. Trying to plan a wedding from Wisconsin could have been so hard, but the State Room made it so easy for us. Being able to meet over holiday weeks and constantly answering emails promptly with random questions we a huge help. From the day of our initial meeting, to our last meeting 2 days before, the State Room had everything under control and I knew we would have nothing to worry about.
The reception was amazing, not just does The State Room have a beautiful and classic appearance, but the food and drinks really live up to that expectation. From the enhanced appetizers to the huge prime ribs, everyone was complimenting the food and saying how full they were before the main course! A lot of people even took home their leftovers, which shows that no one will go hungry! We had multiple groups of people (and older people that have been to tons of weddings) say it was the best reception they have ever been to. That could not make us happier to know everyone enjoyed themselves. And also I wanted to mention all the ‘extras’ The State Room includes in the packages that you don’t get anywhere else. From the old car, to the cake, to the centerpieces, it is definitely hands down the best value you could get for such an amazing venue.
The service and hospitality we had was definitely over and above what we could have ever expected. From Tom picking up my Father and I at my house, to helping us in the vestibule at the church, to taking us around for pictures after, he couldn't have made us feel more taken care of. I’ve never met an owner of an establishment who literally treats his customers like part of his family, and that is really what makes The State Room such a great place to have such a special event.
I would recommend The State Room to anyone who is looking for a beautiful venue, amazing service, and fun party. I wish we could do it all over again. We are so happy we will have this memorable experience to look back on forever.

"Perfect" is the word my new husband and I keep using to describe our wedding at the State Room. And it's the word everyone else uses too! None of our guests can stop telling us (and our parents) how amazing the whole experience was (we had both our ceremony and reception there).
I originally went to visit the State Room because it was so beautiful. I booked it because the package offers are amazing. I recommend it because the staff is incredible.
The venue is a gorgeous, historical 1930's ballroom, with a large dance floor, a giant bar, and romantic lighting and decor. Included with every package is a cake (choose from 2 bakeries), centerpiece flowers (multiple florist choices), an antique car to be driven in (a ridiculous selection here), open bar for the entire reception, and a wedding night hotel room (3 hotel choices).
The bride and groom are helped through every stage of the planning process, which was key for us since we had 8 months to plan our wedding. Lisa and Tom are familiar with every detail, so nothing will be forgotten or left to chance. They guided my husband and I and our families through every step, so that everything was perfect.
Oh, and then there's the food! Everyone kept telling us the same thing, "The food just kept coming, and it was incredible!". Everyone I visited with the entire night could not stop complimenting the food. I've worked in the catering business, so the food was the most important thing to me at our wedding. Absolutely everything (even the bread) is made at the State Room.
Which is all well and dandy, except that the happy couple never has a chance to eat. Not so at the State Room! Before we were announced after cocktail hour, Tom came out and personally made sure the groom and I had as much food as we could eat and whatever we wanted to drink.
I also want to add that the State Room is completely open and capable of serving vegan couples (I'm vegan). My vegan entree was beyond delicious, and they made us egg-free bread. They thought of everything, since I know I hadn't even considered that!
At the end of the night, my groom and I were driven back to the hotel. What we didn't know is that the hotel shuttle for some of our guests (my elderly, less-mobile relatives) was late. Tom personally drove my great-aunt and uncle and grandmother to the hotel in his limo (the car from the Godfather!).
I think it important to mention that when I say I've worked in catering, I mean weddings. This really raised my standards. I wanted all food made from scratch on premises and the 18% gratuity to actually go to the staff. I wanted things to be done on schedule and I wanted my guests to be wowed. The State Room staff didn't meet my expectations—they surpassed them.
I just can't say enough good things about having your wedding with Tom and Lisa at the State Room. I wouldn't have changed a thing about the entire experience. It truly was PERFECT.

When searching for a venue I saw about 10 places and basically walked in and out of them because I knew they weren't for me. On a whim I called the State Room and immediately knew this was a place I HAD to see. We made an appointment for the next day and as soon as I walked through the door I knew this was the place for me. Tom, Renee and Lisa are phenomenal. They know what they are doing and went out of their way to make sure everything was exactly what I wanted. They took our vision, gave several suggestions which turned out to be some of my favorite touches. My wedding day was amazing! The guests raved about the food, service, location and attention to detail. People who have been to a lot of weddings commented on how this was on the top of their list of favorite weddings. I highly recommend the State Room!

I will preface my review by explaining how particular I was about my venue choice. Not only did I have a checklist of all my expectations but I actually met with 7 different local wedding venues until I found my perfect one - The State Room.
The day I walked into the State Room I was in complete awe. It definitely passed the decor test! Not only does it maintain a regal theme, its functionality was genius. I've been to several weddings venues where there was limited view of the Bride and Groom and where you actually had to move your seat to get a good look. The State Room is designed where the Bride and Groom are at the center of everyone's attention and each and every guest have a perfect view no matter what table they sit at.
The service = 5 STARS. We met with the owner, Tom, whom always made the effort in being present for each and every meeting and visit. He also is A MAN OF HIS WORD. Everything he promised in the initial meeting he followed through to the end. He also goes above and beyond in each and every detail. You could tell that at The State Room they eat, sleep and breathe "wedding." My wedding coordinator was Lisa. Lisa was extremely helpful and very good at what she does. You never felt like just another customer with a checkbook. Lisa, Tom and everyone else made us feel like we were royalty. Every cent spent was well worth it and given back to you ten fold.
Food WAS AMAZING. It's been almost a month later and I still get rants and raves about the food. Food is prepared on site so that everything is fresh and never runs out. It was delicious!
There are no regrets or complaints about this venue. This is 5 STAR!

After looking at a number of venues and attending more than a few weddings over the last couple of years, the staff at The State Room were galaxies above and beyond anyone that we had met with or had experience with as guests. From the very beginning, we were treated like the owner of The State Room's very own children. He and the event planner made it a point to get to know my husband and I as people, in addition to making themselves available for anything that we needed. It sounds terrible, but our wedding reception was nothing like I had ever seen before, it was the most amazing event prepared by the most amazing people that clearly love what they do. We truly lived the life of the "rich and famous" that day and were even driven around in the owner's classic 1937 Cadillac! If you are looking for the most amazingly beautiful place, with no hidden costs, you really need to make The State Room your first choice!
