My husband and I just got married at the Thaxton in September, and it was truly an amazing experience. Not only is the venue's art deco detailing gorgeous, but it also has the best staff you could ever ask for. Between Kim, Peter, and Terry, there was never anything that I had to worry about being done, they were on top of everything and wonderful about communicating it all. It kind of feels like you aren't just hiring a venue, but a wedding planner too.
Getting married at The Thaxton was the best decision we ever could have made, and we will always be grateful to the team there for making our day perfect. Thanks again!
Danielle and Carl
P.S. They make their own moonshine at The Thaxton, and it is fantastic. Our guests are still talking about how delicious it was.

Words CAN NOT even describe how great the Thaxton was for our wedding & reception!
I stumbled across the Thaxton helping a friend find a wedding venue a couple years ago. We had always thought I would do a destination wedding, but when I seen the Thaxton website I was amazed. Luckily the Thaxton wasn't chosen by my friend & I showed my boyfriend at the time the website.
Low & Behold when we got engaged I called the Thaxton and made an appointment to meet with Peter. It was the only place we looked at and we booked it that week. Peter was such a joy to work with. He answered all my many questions over the entire year and was ALWAYS organized. He was like having a wedding planner when it came to the venue, he suggestion serving prosecco during the ceremony and had suggestions to make it a memorable night for our guests. Kim was not only stunning but she was also a JOY to work with, Her & Peter made a great team. Kim asked me several times during the event if needed anything & happy with how things were going. Which I of course was!
I can't leave out Terry who works at the Thaxton & is responsible for all the amazing artwork in the building. He was an added presence to the place with his amazing mustache and demeanor!
Our wedding pictures by Charisma photography turned out amazing & captured the spirit of the Thaxton! We didn't need to much decoration for reception because the Thaxton itself has such amazing character! I loved having the wedding on the top floor and trickling down as the night went on. We had the Soulard Blues Band set up in the Speakeasy, Ipod playing on the the other levels. It gave the guests a chance to choose what vibe they wanted to mingle in. Also our caterer Bistro 517 had an amazing set up with the kitchen that is on site at the Thaxton.
The Thaxton was the perfect spot and my husband & I are excited to go back again for the many events that they host.
Thank you Peter, Kim, & Terry!!!!

After visiting numerous other reception sites in the St. Louis area, my fiance (now husband) and I had narrowed it down to a few possible choices that were all so-so. When we finally visited The Thaxton, we were blown away with the uniqueness and glamour of the space and we never looked back.
Peter (one of the owners) was very prompt each time we met and whenever I had questions via email which I very much appreciated. He helped pull the whole evening together and made a some great recommendations which really helped ease our minds.
His staff were all very pleasant and professional and the evening went off without any hitches.
We recommend the valet service as all our guests were VERY happy they did not have to worry about finding parking downtown during a weekend with games and the Taste of St. Louis all happening at the same time!
I think our wedding was pretty perfect overall so I would never redo it, but if I had to (or if we ever renew our vows), without a doubt, we would choose The Thaxton as our venue all over again :)

I can't give you guys an accurate count on how many guests came up to me saying how amazing The Thaxton was. Was told on numerous occasions how the wedding/reception was the best they had been too. From the very first minute we arrived, rushing around saying our hellos and Kim running to grab me my first drink to calm my nerves. To the last moment of the night when due to some transportation issues , Peter drove me and my beautiful new bride to our hotel. We did not experience one hiccup and with all the looks on all the faces, everyone truly had a memorable night. We were worried about our large 160 guest count but we had more than sufficient room to spread out and have a great time. I would suggest this place on its own for its beauty and class. Throw in the amazing staff and you truly could not ask for a better place to host your celebration. We greatly appreciate everything and I'm sure you gained a ton of recommendations from our crazy group!

Having our wedding at The Taxton was probably the best decision we made regarding the wedding. The staff were all so helpful. It was like having a wedding planner without the expense! The venue itself is beautiful. We saved a lot of money on decor/flowers and went with candles. They looked beautiful in the space! We truly couldn't have asked for a better venue for our wedding. It is a unique and special place, and we would recommend it to anyone!

Choosing to have our wedding at the Thaxton was probably the best decision we made about our wedding. Throughout the process we mostly worked with Peter. He was able to give us wonderful suggestions when needed, but also worked with us to make all of our ideas work in the space. The other staff that helped during the wedding were wonderful. Both my husband and I were already overwhelmed with everything and couldn't always keep track of what needed to happen, but the staff always took charge and made sure everything was as it was suppose to be. No worries for us!
The building itself is beautiful and made for the perfect setting for a unique wedding. Having the ability of have the ceremony, cocktails, dinner, and dancing all in one building AND make it all flow seamlessly was amazing! Because of the beauty of the building we were able to save A LOT on decor. We decided to forgo costly floral arrangements and stick with candles. It looked amazing!
For the cost of the Thaxton you get not only an interested building but fabulous decor, a staff that cares about your event, an "almost" wedding planner (Peter), and an experience that your guests will never forget! Thank you to everyone at the Thaxton to making our night so special!

Now that I am a Mrs. the advice I would like to give other Brides and Grooms is… remember what YOU want when it comes to your wedding day. If you want a party with incredible food, music, atmosphere and GREAT drinks… book The Thaxton! If you are creative and want to make your own centerpieces, décor, photo booth or even if you’d rather pay someone to do everything for you the Thaxton is totally flexible! We chose the Thaxton for its 1 of a kind charm! We actually live in Chicago, IL and my husband grew up in St. Louis, MO. Since we started dating we knew that we wanted to get married in STL. We had our eyes set on a few fabulous places but the second we walked into the Thaxton we knew that was the place!
Peter Venzia is a true professional; he helped us plan our event and met with us twice before we even had our rehearsal. Very responsive to email and phone calls, once you get closer to your big day. Our rehearsal went so smoothly, we were actually disorganized but Peter knew how to get us on track! We made our own wine bottle hurricanes and Peter had them setup for us ahead of time. We dropped all of our wedding materials off the day before our Wedding. Terry was also an integral part of our day, known as “Mad Dog” such a wonderful character he helped us keep the flow of our reception on cue. The Thaxton staff is incredible; they paid attention to every detail and made sure that not only our guests we WOW’ed but that we were having a great time. They had two choices of “moonshine” which was fruit infused alcohol that our guests raved over. The bar manager and staff were quick to help with any spills/issues.
We literally just had to show up, get married and party all night. The DJ whose name was Jerry Hill was fabulous! We gave him an idea of the genre of music that most of our guests would like and he ran with it! If you made a face at him and he saw that you didn’t like the song… boom he would change it to something else! That’s a phenomenal DJ!!! At the end of our special night every guest complimented us on our choice of venue, caterer (Hendri’s venue referred) and DJ (venue referred)… and said that they had an AWESOME TIME! We were sad the evening ended but ecstatic that we paid for the extra hour!

The Thaxton was a gorgeous reception venue. The building itself has four gorgeous floors and overall is a very intimate and welcoming setting. At first, the staff wanted us to set up the photo booth in the basement closer to the bar and dance floor for easy access, but we ended up using the top floor for our photo booth because of the beautiful lighting. The entire staff was so gracious and helpful in making sure everything went smoothly. The reception turned out so lovely, and everyone at the wedding raved about the Thaxton!

We chose to have our wedding ceremony and reception at the Thaxton, and it was the best decision we could have made! From the beginning, Peter was very accommodating and helpful. He responded promptly to emails and helped guide us every step of the way. We used many of the recommended vendors, which were great. The venue itself is gorgeous, and the location downtown is very convenient. We had many out of town guests who took the metro in from the airport and stayed in a nearby hotel - no car rental needed.
The actual event was wonderful. Peter, Mad Dog, and the rest of the staff made sure everything flowed very smoothly, and with style. The unique space and lighting of the Thaxton provided for some beautiful pictures. We had around 100 guests, which gave us plenty of room while still maintaining an intimate vibe. All of our guests were impressed with the venue, the service, and the moonshine.
I would definitely recommend The Thaxton for your wedding or event!

The Thaxton was the absolute best choice my fiance and I could have ever made during our wedding planning! If you are like us and looking for a more intimate venue with character to boot this is your place! The Thaxton was an absolute dream; as you walk into the building you are greeted with the most gorgeous art deco murals gold crown molding, and a spiral stair case leading to the upstairs mezzanine. After dinner, you take an old time elevator to the speak easy lounge in the basement. The speak easy was just what the party needed to get started! Our guests are still talking about what an amazing experience they had; we had 110 people for a sit down dinner. Peter, Mad Dog, Kim and the entire Thaxton staff was such a pleasure to work with. During the planning processes they were there by our sides with any questions or concerns we had, and they made our day run so smoothly. My fiance, myself and all our guests had such a spectacular night I couldn't ever imagine having our reception anywhere else. We also used Bridget from "flowers to the People" florist, I HIGHLY recommend Bridget! She made The Thaxton look even more romantic and special than it already is, and she was a pleasure to work with as well! Russo's did our catering-Yumm! My only regret was that the night was all too short! Good Luck in your wedding venue search; I highly suggest you schedule a walk through with The Thaxton to see how spectacular this diamond in the rough really is.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Thaxton in April 2013 and we had an incredible time. The Thaxton is a beautiful and unique venue that all of our guests truly enjoyed. We loved having three different levels for our guests to explore throughout the night. I can't emphasize enough how much fun our friends and family had!
On our wedding night, Peter made sure that everything, from the ceremony, transition to the reception, to the nights, end went smoothly. From the very beginning, Peter was such a great resource and very responsive to emails and phone calls, which made the experience of planning a wedding so much less stressful. Peter was very flexible in helping us customize everything to what we wanted. It may sound cheesy, but it really felt like he wanted to make the night as incredible as possible.
Overall, I couldn't have imagined a more incredible wedding and I give The Thaxton my highest recommendation!

The Thaxton is an unforgettable venue! We were looking for a non-traditional place to hold our ceremony and reception. It only took about 30 minutes during the first visit and we knew we had found the place! The decor and set up are one of a kind!
The entire staff of The Thaxton is absolutely stellar! I worked mostly with Peter and he is fantastic! He made the whole wedding planning process so much easier than I had ever imagined it could be. They have an outstanding list of preferred vendors! Between the fantastic vendors and Peter's knowledge and helpfulness the planning was relatively stress-free! I really appreciated having somebody like Peter that cared about getting on the same page as me as far as what I wanted my ceremony and reception to look like. And, he delivered it so well!
When I walked in at the beginning of our ceremony I was absolutely amazed at how they transformed the room into the PERFECT place for a wedding ceremony.
My family was hesitant about the "non-traditional" thing and even they could not stop talking about what a beautiful wedding it was and what an awesome place the Thaxton is.
The reception was equally as fantastic! The moonshine was awesome! I used the DJ that Peter recommended and he was great! I don't think I can think of a single thing that I would have wanted to go differently.
I could not have asked for a better place to have my wedding. And, I certainly could not have asked for better people to put it all together for me!

We had a surprise wedding on New Year's Eve at the Thaxton which was the PERFECT venue. All of our guests were told that we were eloping to Belize on New Year's Day so that the New Year's Eve party would be a "send-off" party. But we had planned a secret ceremony. The entire Thaxton staff knew and were instrumental in pulling off the secret ceremony. Terry "Mad-Dog" and Peter were great!!! Peter made sure the party was tailored to our specific wants and needs. We had both bars open and they set up a dedicated champagne bar on the main floor which was their idea! The moonshine was delicious. They set up the valet service so we didn't have to worry about that. We had a photo booth set up at the bottom of the stairs. The space was great for our 120 people party.
We really wanted to have a great party instead of a traditional wedding reception, and I don't think we could have had a more perfect night. We also live in Chicago, so planning the event from out of town added another element of difficulty in pulling off the surprise and the party. But the Thaxton was great in communicating with us and accommodating our vendors. I saved a lot on flowers because the building has so much art already. We found their prices to be highly competitive for an open-bar event as well. I would highly recommend the Thaxton for any special event and wish we could have another party there!

We wanted a wedding that was beyond the normal sit down, formal, same ol same ol. The Thaxton was the perfect venue for us. The building is beautiful and all of our guests commented on how much fun they had in the speakeasy. Peter and Terry did a great job of keeping the wedding on track so my husband and I could enjoy the night. I would recommend this venue to anyone

Having our wedding at the Thaxton was a true reflection of our vintage-inspired tastes. The venue is truly unique, fun and glamourous, and very versatile now that they have 4 floors open for use. They helped us secure a DJ for the evening, set up the valet parking, ordered the tables, chairs, linens, helped run the ceremony and direct the musicians and guests, worked with the photographer, kept us informed throughout the evening, helped my mom (who uses a walker) use the elevator for navigating floors, and overall made the night run smoothly. All our guests loved the venue, and raved about the Moonshine down at the bar. If you want something classy and swank that no one else does, this is your place. The staff are also a jem to work with. :)

We chose The Thaxton for our son's Rehearsal Dinner on 10/19/12. We immediately fell in love with the uniqueness of the beauty of this gorgeous venue! But along the way, working with Peter was amazing. His help in all details was above and beyond, all the way to having Coke Zero on hand for me. He was willing to do whatever extra thing I asked. He was a pleasure to work with. The food was catered by Russo's Gourmet Catering. All the guests raved about not only the gorgeous venue but the fabulous food. Again, everything was wonderful. We have another Rehearsal Dinner to give in 2013. It will be a real challenge to find another amazing venue with as wonderful of service.

My wedding ceremony and reception was held at the Thaxton very recently. I could not have been happier with the venue. Peter and his staff were wonderful to work with. If you are looking for a non-traditional venue - look no further. I did not want the traditional church banquet hall wedding and The Thaxton was the perfect location! The price is very reasonable. I also liked the fact that the website had a resource page with other vendors that have worked with the Thaxton before. I found my caterer and photographer through the resource page and both were amazing. I have absolutely no complaints about the Thaxton. It was fantastic!! Kudos to Peter and the staff.

We chose the Thaxton building because it's stunningly beautiful and a departure from a hotel or ballroom(which isn't our taste). We were pleasantly surprised by the owners involvement and attention to detail, us as individuals, and in assembling a phenomenal staff that is efficient, genuine, and fun! All if this including valet, bar staff, liquor, tables, linen and a great DJ for an extremely reasonable price.
They even give you a beautiful candle reflecting the buildings design as a gift. What an unexpected and thoughtful touch!! We couldn't have chosen a better venue.

Peter and Kim were extremely accommodating from start to finish. The venue was glowing on our wedding day, especially with the new sign on the exterior! we used the venue for our ceremony as well as the rehearsal dinner. The bar below compliments the formality of the lobby while also providing a relaxed ambience to cut loose. Oh and dont forget the moonshine cocktails! Superb! Our one concern was parking, however there was more than enough street parking available on the day of the wedding. All in all an unforgettable experience!

My fiance and I had our Rehearsal dinner at the Thaxton the night before our wedding on August 10, 2012. It was AMAZING! The venue itself is so cool and has an old holly wood retro vibe about it. We got so many compliments on what a neat place we chose! We worked directly with Peter who was so nice & easy to work with. Food was catered in by Vito's and was excellent!
Everything turned out perfect and if you are looking for a unique/ one of a kind place, the Thaxton is it!!
