I visited Van Cleve as the first of two bridal boutiques in one day of shopping and ended up with the first dress I tried on at Van Cleve. The staff was extremely understanding, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about my dress and day. They were professionals from beginning to end and I truly enjoyed each and every one of my appoinments. I also have to mention the incredible alterations that were performed on my almost-entirely lace dress - they were impeccable and I will be forever impressed by what a great job was done to make me comfortable in the gown all day (and night) long at my wedding. I highly recommend Van Cleve and will definitely return for future special events of my own!
I bought my dress at a sample sale here, along with a belt and I had it altered here as well. Everyone who worked here was so sweet and helpful. They have a TON of dresses in every price range. I can't express how pleased I am with the service here, I would recommend this place to every bride!!!
Van Cleve was an amazing place to get my wedding dress! There are so many beautiful gowns to choose from, and I founf the perfect dress there! Everyone was so helpful and welcoming. I got my bridesmaids dresses there as well!
I went to Van Cleve on my second shopping trip - it was amazing! I knew I didn't need to look anywhere else. The dresses are beautiful and the service is top notch!
I went to The Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve to specifically try on a dress I found online. I was so happy with the service I received and not only fell in love with the dress, but had a nice selection of veils and jewelry to choose from as well. I also had my dress altered there, and it fit me so incredibly well that I felt like a million bucks in it! I highly recommend The Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve to any brides in the Philadelphia area and surrounding areas.
Horrible customer service! Every time you call you are given the run around, NO ONE EVER knows anything they just past the buck! When they do something wrong they blame YOU! It's not Abby's fault because she is basically the only one working there that knows anything!
I absolutely loved my dress! I loved it so much that I continued to travel from Washington, DC and Roanoke, VA to Paoli (just outside of Philadelphia) for my fittings. The staff and seamstresses are amazing and really understand their jobs. The value can't be beat either. There's something in every price point. I would've paid twice what I paid for my dress though! I can't say enough about Van Cleve. I looked at all the high end boutiques and they didn't have exactly what I was looking for. I was lucky, and it was meant to be that I found my dress at Van Cleve. They were one of the only places that could actually located my dress sample. Thank you ladies! I'm sad it's over but you made me the star of the show!
The sales associates at Van Cleve were very helpful. The dress selection they offered was beautiful and were within a reasonable budget. Thanks to them I looked stunning on my wedding day!
I purchased my wedding gown, veil, and accessories from Van Cleve. My dress was absolutely gorgeous and unique. We had alterations done here, too, and they were flawless, especially considering my dress was mostly lace. The women who worked with us were always eager to help and make suggestions when it came to accessorizing. Although on the expensive side, I loved my dress and accessories, and was willing to pay more for such a special occasion.
The ladies at the Wedding pavillon were able to pull dresses of exactly the style I was looking for. I was very thrilled with there selections as was able to find the right dress for me. The process of ordering was also very easy.
It may sound selfish, but to me, the most important part of my wedding day (well, aside from getting married) was wearing the dress of my dreams. The Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve was the first and only place I looked for a wedding dress. They have racks and racks of gorgeous designer gowns, and you quickly learn why it is "appointment only"--because the staff is incredible and knows the inventory inside and out. Abby McGrath helped me, and with just by telling her a vague description of what I envisioned, she pulled several dresses and all were beautiful. I tried on what I thought I wanted, but abruptly learned that the particular style looks better on others. Abby has an incredible eye for what looks good on certain body types and pulled a dress that fit me perfectly. I always thought women faked the tears on those TLC wedding shows when they find "the" dress, but turns out, the waterworks are real. I put on the dress Abby found for me and immediately burst into tears of joy. It was a dress that I initially didn't think I would be interested in, but thanks to Abby's help, I discovered that it was actually my dream dress. Abby did a wonderful job of giving suggestions without being forceful, and without her guidance I wouldn't have found the perfect dress.
they were the only shop in the area that had my dream dress. otherwise i'd never go there. problem after problem with them. horrible customer service, i was never called back, i even was hung up on once.
I basically dressed my entire wedding from Van Cleve and cannot say enough good things about them. First, for my own dress, they were a dream. At the initial appointment there was absolutely no pressure and you could take pictures. They have dresses for all budgets and do not try to upsell you at all. They pulled dresses that were like the pictures I brought in and their own suggestions. I didn’t even want to try on my wedding dress because I didn’t think it would work, but they were right! For that matter, my dress was significantly below my budget and they never tried to get me into a more expensive dress like I experienced at some other salons. I wore my own sash and veil that my Mom made and they never tried to push me to order from them.
The alterations were amazing. I redid quite a lot of my dress, raising the entire front of it to be a bit more conservative. The price was incredibly fair and the work was done quickly and perfectly. I have never seen a more beautiful bustle than on my own dress and they made it very easy to tie and it held the entire night – quite a feat considering the length of the train/heaviness of my dress.
We also ordered our bridesmaid dresses there and they were very helpful and reasonable to get them all delivered to my girls from out of state. They came in perfectly which was very impressive because I ordered them a different length than the sample dress.
We also purchased my Mom’s gown there which was absolutely stunning. It came in a mere 2.5 weeks before my wedding (because we had waited for a trunk sale to order) and they completed all the alterations perfectly, in record time, at a reasonable price.
I cannot recommend the Wedding Pavilion at Van Cleve enough for all attire you need for your wedding.
I LOVED the gown I found at this salon. It's the only salon in the tri-state area that carried it. They were difficult to negotiate with and at times rude with making final decisions about the price. The seamstress, Vera, was lovely, but at my second fitting we ran into fitting issues. The bustle was too long at the reception. Again, gorgeous inventory, but staff is a bit stuffy.
I am planning my wedding from out of town and I had one weekend to pick out the bridesmaid dresses for my sisters to wear. We made an appointment 3 weeks before going to Van Cleve and when we showed up, they told us to go downstairs for the bridesmaid dresses. We started picking out dresses and asked someone if we could start trying them, they said yes. That is all the personal contact with anybody who worked there. No one checked in on us and we had questions about colors and designers, but there was not a single person around to answer our questions. I can understand if we had walked in without an appointment, but they knew we would be there. We left 20 min later very disappointed. This happened last weekend, my sister has just recently gotten engaged and will be looking for both a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses soon, and will not be shopping there after this experience.
It was amazing deff recommonded
I purchased my Pronovias wedding gown at Van Cleve and they were SO amazing. From the initial look all the way up through alterations, everyone was friendly, professional, and easy to work with. I had a short time-frame to get my dress, and they made it happen. Everyone at my wedding RAVED about the dress!
I got my wedding dress at Van Cleve Wedding Pavillion and was very pleased. My mom and I had been to 3 other wedding gown stores and I couldn't find a dress that wow'd either of us. Our wedding planner suggested that we try Van Cleve. As soon as we walked in and told them what I was looking for Abby suggested we try on this one dress inparticular. We ended up falling in love with this dress the moment I put it on.
Abby, the store manager, was amazing to deal with. She advocated for me during my fitting appointments and helped me make decisions about accessories. I absolutely love her! She is amazing to deal with and she makes Van Cleve what it is!!!
The only reason that I will not given Van Cleve a 5 is because of one of their seamstresses! Two weeks before our wedding she told me that I needed to lose weight! I told her that that was not an option 2 weeks before the wedding. I left the store mortified and cried for days! The next fitting I tried on my dress and it was like a different dress. She had lifted the dress at the waist line and added so much extra fabric that I was swimming in the dress. During the fitting, I looked at my mom and cried, because I didn't even like the dress anymore. Not to mention she stuck me with a needle intentionally, because she could tell that I was beyond upset at her!
Luckily, Abby was there to save the day and suggested that another seamstress come out and help me. Maytop and the head seamstress saved the day! They took the dress in all over and made other adjustments to make it fit like a glove. They even had to re-do the bustle that the other seamstress had done.
Bottom-line: Van Cleve is great bang for your buck. Abby is amazing! But beware for the blonde seamstress with a thick accent ...she'll ruin your dress!!!!
I ended up going with a dress I tried on at Van Cleve even though I'd already bought one. The women who helped me had a great eye for what was going to look the best on me. I never even would have picked up the dress I bought off the rack but on it was perfect. Twee who did my alterations did a great job since my dress was off the rack it had to be altered by 4 sizes, no easy task. It fit beautifully when she was done with it. The environment is comfortable and friendly, not like some of the bridal shops that feel a bit snooty. I'd def recommend Van Cleve to any bride to be.
I decided to use Van Cleve after I discovered that the dress I fell in love with online was available there. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Joy who said she'd be taking care of me for the day. She reviewed my printouts and notes and then quickly picked out half a dozen gowns while my sister and best friend each grabbed a favorite. Joy immediately made me feel comfortable after I told her I was nervous. And she told me it was going to be fun and her nurturing manner really put me at ease. Even as I took my time, tried on different gowns, veils, changed jewelry and her next appointments rolled in she stayed with me and took her time. I ended up going home that day with my wedding dress and veil and it just so happened to be a dress that Joy had picked for me. I love it and loved working with her. This was the good part. Now for the ugly. I also purchased my bridesmaid dresses from this this location as well as my mother having purchased her mother-of-the-bride gown. The experience working with Van Cleve as time went on got worse. I live out of state from the salon b/c my husband and I moved a little after we got engaged. Calling the store and expecting to get any service was a joke. The women were always rushing me off the phone, not offering details of when things would arrive and if I had questions regarding swatches or other details they were always very short with me and rude. I really started to get frustrated. Not only had I myself and my entire wedding party (8 girls total, plus my mom)spent a lot of money in their store but I did not live close by and I could not stand that they couldn't be more understanding. As time went on, I had a conversation with the manager because I was so frustrated and she apologized ...blah, blah, blah. My point just fix it. Things started to get a little better but I think what put the big hammer on all of this was that they gave me my wedding dress in what appeared to be a pink trash bag. Not a garment bag but the cleaners type of sleeve, bag. Let me tell you, that my wedding dress was half hanging out of the bag and when we carried it into my hotel room the night before my wedding we had to have two people carry it so it wouldn't drag all over the floor like a piece of trash. Nice job, Van Cleve. I would not recommend this vendor. There are so many other places you could find a beautiful dress and be treated with more respect and better service. The only thing saving this place is that Joy was awesome to work with thanks to her I ended up with the dress of my dreams.
