Q. We're interested in ending our reception with a bang -- literally. What laws will we have to deal with to have a fireworks display at our wedding?
A. A fireworks display can be the perfect way to end your reception -- you'll certainly be showing the world how you feel! The first step is to check with your reception site to make sure they're okay with the idea -- their insurance may not cover it, and they may ask that you to foot the bill instead. Though the state of Iowa has no laws regarding permissions, insurance, or licensing of operators, check with your town or county's Fire Marshal's Office to be sure you're complying with local laws. For safety's sake, it is best to find an operator who has some training and is bonded or insured. J&M Displays has tons of packages to choose from, and can work with you in tailoring one to your needs (including delivery, insurance, and referral of a qualified operator).
