Des Moines: Ideas for Personalizing Our Ceremony?
Q. Do you have any ideas for personalizing our Iowa wedding ceremony? We've got the reception creatively covered, but we're kind of at a loss for the rest.

A. Here are a few of our favorite ideas to help you get started! You can pay homage to your home state simply by carrying a few wild roses in your bridal bouquet. Not only do these rustic roses symbolize 'simplicity' according to the Victorian language of flowers -- they're also the official state flower of Iowa. Include them in the ceremony decor as well.

And why trot down a plain old carpet or floor when you could have a custom-designed, hand-painted aisle runner? We love Sioux City's own Nan Wilson Aisles. Wilson, a muralist by trade, can create a perfect piece to complement your weddings style and accent your ceremony site. Can't make the commitment? Even though the custom pieces are a cool keepsake (she suggests mounting a portion as a wall hanging, or even using a section as a table runner), many of her classic designs are available to rent.
