1. Keepest thou in mind that other Knotties are more than just "words on a
screen." A real person exists behind those words. Thou shalt exercise
caution and patience when replying.
2. Thou shalt not be a dirty deleter nor shalt thy impersonate a screen name.
3. Thou shalt not vote whore -- not for thy doggie, thy kitty, thy cute kid, thy
anything-entered-in-a-contest nor shalt thou vote whore for even thou MIL.
4. Thou shalt be short and to the point when thou hast a problem or a question
5. Thou shalt not hit refresh as countless a number of times as there art stars
in the universe. It is annoying and is bound to peeve off anybody.
6. Thou shalt not make lame requests for pictures ("Show me your white
flowers with red gowns), post an over the top request ("Who is the Knottie
that had a wedding in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin during Thanksgiving? Please post
that picture. TIA") and above all...
7. Thou shalt NEVER darest to ask "What color flowers go with a navy blue
dress." If thou doest not know that any color flowers are fine and dandy,
thou art lame-o indeed.
8. Thou shalt use the search feature the Knot has, as lame as it is.
9. Thou shalt not steal others' bio pictures
10. Thou shalt not claim to be a "real" Knottie and hath ten gowns for
sale because thou hath "cancelled their wedding." Thou art as full of
poo if thou thinks anyone will buy that.
50 Things Every Knottie Should Know
Return to
Main Menu
***Hallelujah, coffeecat24!!!***
1. Yes, you have to feed the vendors.
2. No, your family can't throw you a bridal shower.
3. If you have to ask if it's tacky, it probably is.
4. And, before you ask, yes, the dollar dance is considered tacky by a majority
of people.
5. Cakes should be made of cake, not fountains, ladders, staircases, or Barbie
dolls dressed up as the bridal party.
6. It doesn't matter if your dress is ivory and the table linens are white.
7. It doesn't matter if your dress is ivory and your FI's shirt is white.
8. Yes, you should put a stamp on the response envelope/postcard.
9. No, we can't tell you what you should have engraved in your FI's ring.
10. Yes, your MOH and BMs are doing you a favor. They are not your personal
assistants, laborers, babysitters, psychologists, or personal shoppers.
11. Yes, it is possible to plan a wedding without reading a single bridal
magazine.
12. No, we do not know why your FI/FMIL/FFIL/MOH said that. We don't know if
they were trying “to ruin your special day." If you want to know why they
said it, ASK them!
13. Don't ask for opinions if you can't handle them.
14. No, you don't have to have favors. But, yes, it's okay to do favors.
15. No, we can't give you a timeline for a 4:00-11:00 wedding. It's YOUR
wedding—you figure out what to do and when.
16. USE GOOGLE for questions to which you KNOW you can find the answer
elsewhere. It takes less time than posting AND you won't annoy anyone by asking
“what's the difference between a duvet and a comforter?” 357 times each day
on every single board. Also, do a Knot search FIRST before asking Knotties the
same questions they have already seen and answered many times!
17. No, the lack of responses to your post is not an indication that we don't
like you. It's an indication that your post was a) inaccurately worded, b)
unanswerable by us, c) not of interest to us.
18. Yes, putting prom pictures in your bio will usually result in an attack on
your age and/or the age of your FI.
19. Yes, putting up a bio DOES give people the right to judge you. Realize that
your bio is an indication of your lifestyle and/or personality and is who you
are on the Knot. If you post a pic of your FI eating a possum sandwich while
wearing overalls, a cowboy hat, and standing in front of a Confederate flag
whilst petting your coon dog “Cooter,” you WILL be judged.
20. No, we don't know which BM dress you should choose. We can tell you which
one we like, but we aren't taking into account your size 2 BM and your size 32
BM. Give us the facts up front if you really want to know.
21. Inviting guests to the ceremony and reception is okay. Inviting extra guests
to the reception only is okay. Inviting guests to the ceremony and NOT the
reception is NOT okay.
22. Guests should not have to pay for their meal at the reception. Ever.
23. Guests do not have to give you a gift. If they do give you a gift, consider
yourself lucky. Do not tally up the cost of the gift against what you've spent
per guest—they don't have to reimburse you for the cost of your wedding!
24. Shower guests must also be wedding guests. Always.
25. RSVP totals vary with each bride. We can tell you how many showed at our
wedding, but that is not in any way a guarantee of your guests' attendance.
26. No, you may not DEMAND that your MOB/MOG wear a particular outfit. You chose
your dress—let them choose theirs.
27. Yes, you should send a TY note if you have received a gift. No matter when
you got the gift. No matter what kind of gift. No matter where they gave you the
gift.
28. No, you do not have to have a MOH.
29. Yes, you are being a selfish wench in demanding that your friend change her
wedding date because it is “too close” to yours.
30. Yes, you may put registry information in shower invites.
31. No, you may not put registry information in invitations or STDs.
32. No, we don't know where your FI is. Call him.
33. No, we don't know why the vendor/FFIL/BM/officiant hasn't returned your
call. Call them!
34. Yes, there are local boards. We don't know where you can find the best cake
baker in Hooterville. Ask someone who lives in your state.
35. Yes, you can have a “soon to be” hoodie. Yes, you will probably be made
fun of for that choice. No, we can't tell you what to have embroidered on said
hoodie.
36. No, you may not have a critique. If someone offers, take them up on it.
Otherwise, you just look like you're starving for affection and recognition.
37. No, you may not post the carat weight of your e-ring in your bio. It makes
you look oh-so-shallow.
38. No, you do not have to respond to every troll. The best thing to do is
ignore them.
39. Yes, we all know you're selling something on E-bay. No, you do not need to
post about it every 23 minutes.
40. No, Knotties do not have the final say on your wedding. Do not try to
replicate another Knottie's wedding. Make your wedding YOUR wedding.
41. No, you may NOT automatically assume that you are going to have a bridal
shower and/or a bachelorette party. Under no circumstance is it appropriate to
ask someone to throw one for you.
42. No, your wedding is not more important than your family.
43. No, your MOH is not jealous that you are getting married. She probably just
wishes you'd shut up about it for 5 minutes and talk to her like you used to.
44. Yes, your parents have the right to have some say-so in your wedding plans
if they're footing the bill.
45. If you think you're pregnant, take a pregnancy test.
46. You know that guy who gave you the ring? Yeah, he's your FI. He's allowed to
make WR decisions too.
47. No, there should not be any pictures of children on your invites (Unless
either you or FI are 8 years old).
48. No, you will never be able to explain the virtues of the Precious Moments
collection to most of us.
49. Yes, budgeting arguments are easily avoided. Decide on your budget before
you buy anything. Don't add it up as you go along!
50. No, we don't need to see pictures of every man, woman, and child that you
know. Try to keep your bio short and sweet.
A Knot Message Board Tutorial

Public Service Announcements aka PSAs (created by LauraNovBride and updated by
many others):
1. Hitting refresh makes your posts (messages) reappear on the message board
again and again, as many times as you hit refresh. Instead, click on the
"Planning & Etiquette" link (located within the post or on the
left column) and then open your post again to make the new posts appear. If you
ever inadvertently hit refresh, please go back and delete any duplicate posts.
2. To learn how to put pictures in your bio, go to: http://www.knothelp.com/
Also, look for the bio called HelpWithYourBio. There is a link inside to a msg
board on ezboard. Loads of helpful tips on there!
3. Searching for specific bios:
To look up someone’s bio, use this link: http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profilename=theirknotname
Then replace “theirknotname” with the knottie’s knot name and VOILA!
a) Check out the bio for Specialty Bios (http://www.theknot.com/co_profileview.htm?profile
name=SpecialtyBios) There are links to lots of specialty bios inside to help you
with your planning. Knotties create specialty bios for various themes such as on
seasons, colors, ocean ceremonies, etc.
b) http://www.magnificentbliss.com/knot/ This is a great site of knottie bios to
check out.
4. Be careful how much personal info you give on the knot (examples - full name,
wedding location/reception location along with your wedding date). The reason I
put this in here is because if you give out too much info, you put your wedding
at risk of being sabotaged by crazy people. (Yes, there are crazy people on the
internet.)
5. Trolls = troublemakers on the knot. They often post rude or insulting things
(e.g., fake question or a nasty reply to get a reaction). The only way to combat
them is to ignore them. The more people respond to them, the more they post
(some of them are actually nice and quite entertaining though).
6. (A tip from LaurieAnn) Do a search for your knottie name on the boards every
so often. Do this on the "Chat & Boards" page (http://www.theknot.com/co_chatmain.htm)
in the search box. The reason you should do this is because you might have been
"paged" by another knottie. This link will search ALL of the message
boards.
Let's talk about when a knottie "pages" someone. People do this when
they want to contact a particular knottie. People might page you to ask you
questions about your planning/bio, etc. In order to never miss a page, it is
good practice to search for your knottie name on the boards every so often.
7. Before posting a question regarding invitation wording, red BM dresses,
pictures of red rose bouquets, etc. search the boards (http://www.theknot.com/co_chatmain.htm)
for previous posts on the subject matter. The questions are likely to have been
asked countless times before and you will get more answers/suggestions through
the search than you will get from your attempt to post about it.
8. Before booking any wedding-related vendor, do a search for the company on the
Better Business Bureau (BBB) website (www.BBB.org). When evaluating complaint
information from the BBB, please consider the company's size and volume of
business. The number of complaints filed against the company may not be as
important as the type of complaints and how the company handled them.
9. When posting, in your subject line, it is good to be as specific as possible
to get the most response from other knotties.
-For example, rather than a subject line that reads "Has anyone heard of
this photographer...." write: "John Smith photographer...anyone use
him?"
-rather than "Anyone use these vendors?" write: "Anyone use
Springtime Florist company?" Write separate posts for each vendor with
their name in the subject line.
10. If you are having difficulty logging on to the knot try taking off the 'www'
at the beginning of the address. The knot acts up quite a bit and this is
usually a sure-fire way to get on and *get your fix*. You can also try reaching
the boards by going through different avenues. If you normally go through chat
to get to them, try going through local resources. It is also good to bookmark
your favorite boards. Sadly, the knot does goes down at times.
11. Rather than testing your bio by posting on the boards, simply save your bio
to your favorites links. That way you can easily refer to it when you want.
Plus, it can be annoying to see multiple "I'm just testing my bio"
posts.
12. Be nice to your fellow knotties. We are all part of this crazy wedding
planning thing together! The Golden Rule can easily be applied to posting on msg
boards.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Changing Your Name
In order to speed the process of changing your name, I recommend getting at
least two copies of your certified marriage certificate (this is the document
you receive after you're married and is different from your marriage license).
While some companies only need a copy of your certificate, the government
agencies require the original document and will hold on to it for up to a couple
of weeks, so if you have multiple copies you can simultaneously have your name
changed in more than one place.
The Best Place to Start Out Is With Social Security
You should begin by changing your name with the Social Security office since you
will need a card with your new name on it in order to change your driver's
license, passport, etc. For your convenience, Social Security also takes care of
your name change with the IRS for you.
Social Security
What you'll need:
--- Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Proof of Identity (driver's license, passport, etc.)
--- Proof of Legal Alien Status (only if you were born outside the U.S.)
--- Completed SS-5
Form
You will need to either mail the SS-5 form to your closest Social Security
Administration office or go in person (Social
Security Office Locator). You will need to give them your certified marriage
certificate, and you will recieve your new card within 2-4 weeks (your new name
will be reflected, but you SS# will remain the same).
For more info, check out www.ssa.gov
or call 1-800-772-1213.
IRS
The Social Security Administration automatically updates your records with the
IRS when you change your name so you don't need to do anything here! The IRS
records are generally updated 10 days after the records at the Social Security
Administration are changed.
If the due date for filing your taxes is within two weeks of your changing your
name with Social Security, you may need to update the IRS on your own to avoid
any problems. See the IRS
FAQ about name changes.
Next, Change Your Name on Your Driver's License
Once you receive your updated Social Security Card, take that and your certified
marriage certificate to your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
FYI: Many states will allow you to simultaneously change your name on your
vehicle registration and title as well as your voter registration (Click
here if your state doesn't offer this convenience).
DMV
What you'll need:
--- Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Current Driver's License
--- Proof of Identity (e.g. passport)
Most states require you to go down to the DMV in person. Contact your local DMV
and find out your state's specific requirements for changing your name on yor
driver's license, vehicle registration, and title. Ask about voter registration
as well.
Change Your Name on Your Passport Too
Once you've received your updated Social Security Card and driver's license, go
down to the passport office (or mail in the forms) along with your marriage
certificate and proof of identity.
Passport Agency
What you'll need:
--- Current Valid Passport
--- Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Completed DS-19
Form
--- There is NO FEE to have your passport amended. However, there is a fee if
you need to renew your passport.
To change your name on your passport, mail in form DS-19 along with your
certified marriage certificate and current valid passport to:
Charleston Passport Center
Attention: Amendments
1269 Holland Street
Charleston, SC 29405
You will receive your amended passport and marriage certificate in the mail in a
couple of weeks. If you need to renew your passport, you'll need a different
form, new photos, etc. Check out the Passport
Agency web site for more details and access to additional forms.
Go Ahead and Change Your Name with Your Employer, Credit Cards,
and Financial Institutions
Once you have updated your Social Security and driver's license, for a short
time you will have a discrepancy between your photo ID and your credit cards,
bank cards, etc. Thus, you will want to immediately begin changing over your
credit cards, bank account, employer, etc. Always carry your marriage
certificate with you during this time to avoid hassles.
Employer
What you'll usually need:
--- Copy of Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Possibly a copy of your new Social Security card and driver's license
Inform your employer's HR department and find out what they require from you
(usually a copy of your marriage certificate) in order to change your name on
your paychecks.
Tip: Be sure to ask them if they'll update your info with your health insurance
and 401K or if you need to do this yourself.
Bank
What you'll usually need:
--- Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Driver's License
--- Visit to local branch to sign a new signature card
Call your local bank branch and find out their requirements and what they need
you to bring in order to change your name. If you're planning to merge accounts
with your spouse, ask about how this works as well (you may both need to be
there in person).
Credit Cards
What you'll usually need:
--- Signed letter informing them of name change
--- Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Driver's License
--- Sign new card as soon as you receive it
Call the customer service number on the back of your card and find out what your
credit card provider needs you to send them in order to change your name.
Make sure you only update your credit cards after you've received your updated
driver's license as many stores require ID in order to accept your credit card.
Again, always carry your marriage certificate with you during this time.
As with your bank, if you're merging credit card accounts, call when your spouse
is home because they usually need to speak with both of you.
Financial Institutions/Investment Houses
What you'll usually need:
--- Signed letter instructing them to update your name change
--- Certified Marriage Certificate
--- Copy of your updated driver's license
You can arrange your name change by mail or in person if your broker has a
retail location. You will need your updated driver's license (or passport) and
certified marriage certificate.
If you and your spouse intend to merge any accounts, you will need to fill out
and sign additional forms. I recommend calling customer service and asking about
your broker's specific requirements.
Contact Your Insurance Companies, Doctors and Professionals,
Utilities, Etc.
Most will only need a signed letter from you and a copy of your marriage
certificate.
--- Car Insurance
--- Medical Insurance
--- Home/Rental Insurance
--- Accountant
--- Lawyer
--- Doctors
--- Dentist
--- Utilities
--- Phone Company
--- Cellular Provider
--- Long Distance Company
--- Gas
--- Electric
Frequent Flyer Programs
With airline security at an all-time high, it's critical that you change your
name with your frequent flyer programs in order to insure you don't have any
hassles when you fly (i.e. redeeming or collecting miles, getting upgrades,
etc.).
You will need a signed letter requesting the name change, plus a copy of your
marriage certificate with most airlines. Contact your preferred airline carriers
for more details.
Magazines & Newspapers
It's not absolutely necessary to change your name with these as you'll still
receive the magazines and newspapers anyway. If you want to wait until you renew
your subscriptions, that's fine.
A Major Problem and How to Avoid It
Be Careful Which Name You Use on Airline Tickets
Make sure you don't order any tickets with your new name until you've received
your new driver's license and/or passport. Otherwise, you're likely to be turned
away at the ticket counter and not allowed on your flight. It's a good idea to
bring your marriage certificate with you when you travel during this time.
Although this is not a sure guaranteee that you won't have hassles, if you
absolutely need to fly and the rest of your ID's check out, you may be okay.

Here is a brief synopsis of some Caribbean destinations.
Antigua: This Caribbean jewel of an island boasts enough culture, action, and
beaches - especially beaches- for you to discover something new every day.
Antigua has 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. It is an exotic paradise
where cooling breezes and warm hospitality ensure the perfect getaway. Enjoy a
dazzling casino, watersports, a reef full of tropical fish, or a private moment
for two…on sand so pure it casts a pinkish hue.
Aruba: One of the Caribbean's most popular islands, Aruba entices you by day
with some of the most gorgeous white-sand beaches in the West Indies, some of
the best wind surfing in the world, tennis and golf, and fabulous shopping,
duty-free! The landscape is dotted with rocky deserts, secluded coves,
windmills, and aquamarine vistas. Glorious sunsets give rise to lively casinos,
discos and top-name entertainment, or a horse-drawn carriage ride around town to
cool Caribbean rhythms.
The Bahamas: Find out for yourself why "it's better in the Bahamas!"
With more than 700 islands and cays, some active, others quiet and romantic, the
Bahamas offer you a variety of adventures on land and water. From scuba diving
to parasailing and windsurfing to golf, waterskiing, seaside restaurants,
fishing, and snorkeling, to shopping excursions, casino-hopping, or relaxing -
there's something for everyone to enjoy
Barbados: This beautiful island paradise surrounds you with crystal-clear waters
and golden sand coves. It is the easternmost island in the Caribbean, with quiet
waters on the Caribbean side, and world class surfing on the Atlantic side.
Besides a wide assortment of watersports, enjoy golf and tennis, delectable
cuisine (including fly fish), fun-filled nightlife, warm, friendly people with a
British flair, and some of the best bands in the Caribbean.
Bermuda: Discover the natural beauty and classic British charm of Bermuda.
Enriched by protective coral reefs and miles of pink-sand beaches, the warmth of
Bermuda is perfect for quick getaways to extended honeymoons. Enjoy world-class
golf and tennis, rent a motor scooter to travel through the picturesque towns
and countryside enhanced with the aroma of exotic floral gardens, or sip your
favorite beverage on an English pub's harborside terrace.
Bonaire: The "island of flamingos" is not only surrounded by coral
reef-it is a reef itself with some of the best diving in the Western Hemisphere.
Diving and snorkeling are spectacular-without going far from shore. One of the
"ABC" islands, Bonaire lies only 50 miles from Caracas, Venezuela. At
Bonaire's beaches, sand is available in pink, white or black. Because of its
charming island atmosphere and easygoing people, Bonaire has earned its
reputation as the friendliest island in the Caribbean.
British Virgin Islands: Come as you are to the B.V.I.-bathing suits and bare
feet are encouraged, if not required! These islands are a sailor's dream, strung
out along Sir Francis Drake Channel, with year round soft breezes blowing across
almost every shade of blue ocean. You'll find exotic flora and fauna, as well as
fabulous diving and fishing sites. Some of the more popular of the inhabited
islands are Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Beef Island, Peter and Jost Van Dyke. If you
desire a peaceful, relaxing vacation, the British Virgin Islands may be your
private paradise.
Cayman Islands: Visitors find Grand Cayman to be absolutely beautiful and
charming place to relax. It is almost entirely surrounded by coral reefs, so
divers can take home lasting impressions of spectacular sea life and remarkable
underwater shipwrecks. This prosperous island is home to fine restaurants and
shops, world-class resorts and condos, golf, and miles of powdery white beaches
to relax on - together.
Curacao: The superb diving, snorkeling and water sports whet your appetite for
fun on dry land, including exciting casino and entertainment nightlife.
Willemstad, the capitol, was designed by early Dutch settlers as a tropical
miniature Holland and today is one of the most picturesque and colorful of
Caribbean cities. Get away from the crowds and enjoy the tranquility of Curacao.
Dominica: is an untouched paradise waiting to be explored. Dominica's natural
beauty is breathtaking. You'll find more than 17,000 acres of rain forests,
crater lakes, cascading waterfalls, sandy beaches, hot mineral streams, bubbling
pools of mud, volcanic cones and a natural underwater world. Shop in the
markets, go hiking, sportfishing, scuba diving or snorkeling. Dominican
Republic: This natural beauty is one of the best values in the Caribbean. It has
it all! Enjoy pristine beaches with sparkling blue bands of ocean in the resort
areas of Punta Cana, La Romana, and Puerto Plata. There are a variety of
all-inclusive resorts that allow you to put your wallet in your safe, and worry
only about pleasing your special someone. The entertainment, casinos,
watersports, golf, and friendly locals will tempt you to return for many
anniversary trips.
Grenada: For a truly relaxing Caribbean vacation with just the right seasoning
of adventure, sports and nightlife, try the "Isle of Spice"…the
lovely island paradise of Grenada. Swim in the center of an extinct volcano, or
enjoy the beautiful white sandy beaches.
Guadeloupe: It's West Indian name means "island of beautiful waters" -
most notably a trio of waterfalls towering 300 feet, and outstanding beaches
with rocky cliffs that shelter sandy coves. Guadeloupe also has a world-class
reputation for its delicious French & Creole cuisine, made all the more
memorable by its' Old World atmosphere.
Jamaica: Jamaica is a Caribbean experience that offers more than the usual sun,
sand, sea, and every kind of watersport. Reggae and rastafari add a unique blend
of vibrance, culture and character. Montego Bay bustles with exciting nightlife,
shops & restaurants, and breathtaking sandy beaches. In the Ocho Rios area
you'll find lush tropical vegetation, championship golf, and a cascading
orchestra of waterfalls rushing to meet white sand beaches. Negril is your beach
hideaway with a "laid back" spirit. You'll find outdoor music parks, a
seven-mile white sand beach, caves to dive or swim in, and everyone's favorite:
red sunsets. Hopefully, you'll return from Jamaica with the best souvenir- a
little bit of the carefree and laid-back attitude of the natives.
Martinique: is fashionably French. The island offers visitors everything from
mountains and plush rain forests to beautiful white-sand beaches, tropical
flora, and spectacular golf. Take advantage on the great buys on genuine French
imports. The entire island seduces you with its' natural beauty dressed in
French savoire faire.
Mayan Riviera: (Mexico's Caribbean) This sunny coast stretching south of Cancun
to Tulum has it all. White sandy beaches, coral reefs, Mayan ruins, and
magnificent resorts to rustic getaways, on the blue-green Caribbean. Enjoy
exotic all-inclusive resorts in the jungle, on the ocean, with every amenity -
just a short drive from easy to reach Cancun airport. The area offers
snorkeling, diving, hammock swaying, floating down underground rivers, swimming
in beautiful coves, and local entertainment. Playa del Carmen has restaurants
& open-air shops along the waterfront. Cozumel is just a 45 minute ferry
ride away. The Mayan Riviera is an ideal destination for vacationers who love
the outdoors & tranquility.
Puerto Rico: Experience an exciting blend of American and Latin culture. San
Juan, one of the best preserved Spanish colonial cities, features fabulous
beachfront hotels and glittering resorts just minutes away. Your days will be
filled with sun and choices…watersports or beachcombing? Sightseeing or
championship golf? Top off your evening dining experience with a visit to
pulsating discos…dazzling casinos…or an evening of counting stars on the
beach with your special someone.
St. Kitts / Nevis: This twin-island nation paradise is quickly becoming one of
the newest "in-spots" of international vacationers. St. Kitts offers
gorgeous black sand beaches and a flurry of activity, from world-class golf to
the excitement of the casinos and endless sightseeing. The two islands are
separated only by a 2 mile wide channel - but the attitude is miles apart.
Relaxation is the key on Nevis. It's so pleasant, you almost hate to talk about
it-and let the secret out.
St. Lucia: One visit to St. Lucia and you'll fall in love with the natural
beauty of the rain forests, mountains, and beaches, the sounds of steel bands
and reggae, and the island people in this tropical paradise. Just offshore, you
can dive into an underwater world rich with coral reefs and dazzling marine
life. You'll find world-class resorts here.
St. Maarten / St. Martin: Enjoy a vacation that's half-Dutch, half-French, and
totally Caribbean. Your biggest priority here is relaxing on the magnificent
white sand beaches and playing your favorite water and land sports. Duty free
shopping is a must on both sides, with charming open-air terraces to enjoy lunch
by the sea. Top off your evening with a gourmet dinner, fun and dancing in the
nightclubs, or try your luck at the action packed casinos.
St. Vincent / Grenadines: St. Vincent has some of the world's best sailing
waters. Its' rugged coastline is dotted with black sand beaches, a fleet of
charter yachts, and relaxed West Indian style hotels. Hikers & divers will
find St. Vincent spectacular. The Grenadines have white coral sand beaches, bird
sanctuaries, and crystalline blue water for snorkeling. You'll find luxury
resorts, and others offering the serenity of an "untouched" paradise.
Trinidad / Tobago: Trinidad is home to hundreds of species of birds, orchids,
and butterflies. It bustles with sophisticated restaurants, shopping centers,
and an active nightlife. Tobago is a great place to doze in a hammock, snorkel
on a reef or sip rum punch at sunset. Below the ocean surface, divers will find
canyons, tunnels, caves, and the world's largest known coral basin.
Turks and Caicos Islands: Delight in the unspoiled beaches and clear waters.
This is a quiet, island retreat where you can "get away from it all."
Lying at the end of the Bahamas chain is over 200 miles of deserted stretches of
ivory sand beaches surrounded by coral reefs and aquamarine sea. Evenings are
generally low-key, with great dining, local entertainment and casinos.
U S Virgin Islands - St. Thomas / St. John / St. Croix: America's Caribbean
paradise is a mixture of azure seas, romance, soft white sands, watersports
galore, and lots of fun. Each Island has it's own personality. More than
two-thirds of St. John is undisturbed jungle, where nature lovers and
adventurers can roam freely, or enjoy a popular underwater snorkeling trail. The
bustle and excitement of St. Thomas is famous for duty free shopping and
fabulous beaches. The capital, Charlotte Amalie, is a popular cruise port. In
St. Croix, rolling hills fringe historic towns touched by ancestral Danish
roots. All three islands offer varied culinary delights, from Danish smorgasbord
to fast food to West Indian specialties.

Adopting a furry friend is an important decision that should never be taken
lightly. If you would like to rescue your next pet, take a look at your local
animal shelter first. Those animals have only a short time for you to find them
before they are destroyed. If you have no luck at your local shelter, click here
for a listing of no-kill rescue groups located around the Metroplex.
The 10 Commandments for Responsible Pet Owners
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be very
painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me - it is crucial for my well being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment. You have
your work, your friends, your entertainment. I HAVE ONLY YOU!
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I understand your voice
when it's speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll NEVER forget it.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the
bones in your hand, but I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or un-cooperative, ask yourself if
something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've
been out in the sun too long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old. You too, will grow old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch
it" or "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for ME
if you are there. Remember, I love you.
