And when we were planning for the house?

Our house, with Jason out on the balcony enjoying a sunset. You can see our wireless internet antenna on the left side of the house - tech savvy!

The street where we live. We love how old-fashioned all the houses look. And we get a street light, so even if everyone had their porch lights off, our house would stand out. Sometimes it looks like it's glowing...

One side of our front lawn...

...and the other.

The front porch. It's a little spare right now, but we're planning a trip to the local nursery to get some plants.

The balcony with our new furniture - the Blu Villa seating set from Target. It was touch and go getting it once Target decided to put all their patio furniture on sale at the end of June - crazies! - but we got it!

The living room on moving day. We wanted to get rid of the movers, so we had them dump all the boxes here so we could sort and unpack them later.

Right now, this room is holding the piano and some random odds and ends we haven't unpacked and put away yet. When it's done, it will still hold the piano along with some nice furniture for a formal seating area. And it will be red (Behr's "Cherry Cobbler").

Work begins! Jason put up the chair rail and, after some fun math, started putting up the panel molding.

Mmmm.... primer.

The living room, primed and ready for the real paint. Yay for red! The bottom half of the wall will be Glidden's Bonjour Beige, and the chair rail and molding will be white.

Huzzah! It is finished! Except for the art and furniture part, of course.

The dining room on moving day. The room dwarves our tiny IKEA dining set that we had in our apartment. This table and chairs are now in my office.

The wall color is Behr's "Sailboat" - a great deep royal blue. Our furniture is from Kathy Ireland's line, made by American Standard furniture. It's a nice cherry color with diamond patterns inlaid in the tabletop and the doors of the china cabinet. This photo was taken from the entryway. There's a niche in the wall out of frame to the left, like an "interior window" to the dining room.

Another angle, this time with natural light. You can see how the dining room connects to the kitchen.

The view of the dining room from the kitchen. You can see the niche on the left.

Our sectional is from American Furniture Warehouse in Denver. It's in a color called "Saddle," which is a light camel color, and it's about the most comfortable thing I've ever sat on. The coffee table is also from AFW, and a bargain at $140! The wall color is Glidden's "Prairie Grass."

Our ledges over the sectional, filled with all sorts of knick-knacks (and some picture frames that are still empty). Most everything is from Target, with a few goodies from Pier 1 tossed in.

The east side of the family room (the view above is the southwest corner). We're missing an endtable for the sectional and two square ottomans for seating in front of the fireplace. Oh, and draperies.

The northwest corner of the family room, where we'll have a armless chair and ottoman as well as a small table with lamp.

The northeast corner of the family room, with a niche looking through the the kitchen nook. Our "entertainment unit" is fairly ghetto, but we're planning to upgrade the TV soon and don't want to invest in new furniture for a TV until we have "the" TV.

The kitchen a week before closing. Everything looked so pretty!

What yonder do I see? Is Jason actually... cooking dinner? Cabinets are Portrait style in natural maple from Merillat. Countertops are DuPont Zodiaq in Galaxy Black.

All the appliances are by Maytag, in stainless steel. We *love* our wide-by-side fridge and Gemini double-oven range. Ignore those dirty dishes...

The northeast corner of the kitchen, with our custom cabinets and the door to the garage.

Close up of our plate rack and glass doors.

The kitchen nook - holding place for the trash can, the cat food, and various and sundry tools for current projects.

A view of the kitchen from the family room.

The kitchen color - Behr's "Asparagus."

Jason enjoyed using the fridge as a booster seat to get the hard areas behind the cabinets.

Almost done! Jason is finishing removing the tape, and then we have a few touch-ups to do before we put the room back together.

The nook with our new furniture from Target. It had been unavailable in stores for quite a while, so we ordered it online. And then, just a few days later... POOF! It appeared in the store. So we cancelled our online order. :)

The walls in all the common areas - halls and stairs and whatnot - are painted in Glidden's "Bonjour Beige," which is a fabulous khaki/light tan color that we love. The artwork is from Cost Plus World Market - the poster was bought during a 75%-off sale, so with frame and all the print was $35.

Our new entry table, the Cortina Table from Bllard Designs.

Looking up the stairs at our wedding photos...

...and looking down the same stairs, toward the powder room on the left and the coat closet on the right.

The console table in the upstairs hallway outside our bedroom. The table and lamp are from Target, and these walls will also be beige shortly.

The before shot - this room is a lot bigger than it looks. Eventually we'll have built-in cabinets and shelves on the wall to the left and more shelves and a window seat on the wall with the windows. The door to the balcony is on the right out of frame.

This is Jason's room, so of course it's behind. He gets easily distracted as he unpacks; here he's reading his old yearbooks.

The office on moving day. I have a lot of crap (there's more downstairs in the living room with all the other boxes).

My bright green office! Wall color is Behr's "New Green." All sorts of goodies in here... you can see foam stamps on magnetic boards on the left of the shelves; acrylic paints in spice racks on the right; ribbon, dozens of rubber stamps, my QuicKutz die cutter, and all sorts of other odds and ends on the shelves above my work table. Paper is on the right, below the paints - 8-1/2 x 11 on top, 12 x 12 on the bottom.

My desk, which I love - a Jerker desk from IKEA. On the left is more of my crafty goodies - tools, scrapbooking embellishments, stamp pads, hole punches... I could do dozens of albums and not run out of supplies.

Isn't it inviting? We'll be working on this room to prepare for a short visit from my mom, brother and neice as they drive through Colorado on their way from Idaho to Texas.

Progress! New bedding and a $20 rug, and things are coming along. We're going paint the walls a dark tan, and beyond that... we're still experimenting. :)

Moving day shots again. This is the north end of the bedroom. We haven't done much in here, short of putting some lamps on the nightstands and making the bed.

The south end of the bedroom - there are books on the shelves now, and we've purchased a second dresser that (if it were in the room) would be out of frame against the wall on the right.

The aforementioned lamps, from Target.

The powder room, currently employing a chrome and white "theme" so I don't have to paint for a while.

The jack-and-jill vanity in the guest bathroom. This view is from the bedroom door; the door opposite this one is to the loft. In the right-hand mirror, you can see the entrance to a second room with the toilet and shower/tub combo.

The master bathroom. Closets are immediately on the left and right (the bigger on the left). In the mirror, you can see the reflection of the door leading to the water closet. And yes - we're going to replace the carpet with tile. Don't freak out.

The master bath vanity. We carried the accent tile from the tub and shower around as a backsplash. The sinks are from Kohler's Devonshire line and match the fixtures in our powder room.

Jason checks out the shower. The cats like to sit on that ledge outside the shower and wait for us to come out. Jason likes to reach over the wall and drip water on them.

The bathtub, also from Kohler's Devonshire line. It's nice and deep for soaking.

The south wall of the basement. You can see our rough-in plumbing, where a bathroom will eventually be added. I'm standing in what will be the laundry room. Beyond the bathroom will be my new office once we have kids and I'm forced to move down here.

The southwest corner of the basement - you can see our sump pump and water main back there, along with our egress window. That area will be a large storage room. Under the stairs, you can see the panel where all our phone, cable and data lines terminate. We've got our wireless router in there for our wireless network.

Jason checks out our furnace and humidifier. You can see the laundry hook-ups in the foreground.

The laundry area, with our Fisher & Paykel set that is AWESOME. The most energy efficient top-loading washer out there, and the dryer is top-loading too. It's huge inside!

The back of the house. Our bedroom is above the garage (so it's pretty large). You can see the family room downstairs on the left and my office above that.

Our alley. The alley-loading garage was one of our favorite features about the house - we love not having the whole front of the house overwhelmed by a garage.

The back of the backyard - it's about 27 feet to our neighbors' house right here.

The other end of the backyard, which is more of a side yard. At its narrowest, the yard is about 14 feet wide.

Hooray for finished backyards! This is the view from the gate...

...and this is the view from the other side of the yard, next to the front fence. Pretty blue hydrangeas!

The tree and stepping stones (and shrubs) at the front fence. The tree is a ivory silk Japanese tree lilac, and the bushes are mops mugo pine.

The view to your left as you come in the gate from the alley - the closest flowers are Little Princess Spirea.

The plantings at the back of the yard - zebra grass, columbines, Carol Mackie Daphne, snowdrop anemone, and a spring snow crabapple tree.

Boo, the princess.

Meatwad, the queen. Seriously - we think he's gay.
