Our Save the Date Magnet from www.CarlsonCraft.com

Our invitation. It's a photo invitation from Rexcraft (sorry, pic not uploaded). We wrote the saying.

This is not us- it's an example of the photo tissue we bought for our invitation.

Our unity candle from Rexcraft.

Our wedding wishbowl, wish album (www.myjeanm.com) and feathered pen (from Party City).

Pew Bows our florist made for us. We had 23 made. They were on every other pew, attached by rubber bands.

The beautiful jewelry I bought from www.marilynskeepsakes.com

I got these shoes at NYC Shoes in Parsippany, NJ. I also got them for my bridesmaids & had them dyed to match their dresses. The dyeing came out great. They were soooo comfortable. (www.nycshoes.com)

Garter belt- I realized as we were taking pictures about 2 hours after the beginning of the ceremony that it was killing me & had to come off.

OH YES! I bought these boxers and the "I do" thong for the after wedding party ;0) (www.MarilynsKeepsakes.com)

"Just Married" Flip flops I brought on HM. They were soo cool! They really work. I'll post the results when I post HM pics! (www.MarilynsKeepsakes.com)

Bears I bought for Flower Girl & Ring Bearer or as he put it "The Master of the Rings!" (www.jessicaswedding.com)

Coloring books bought from (www.rexcraft.com).They had the best deal.

Ring Bearer & Flower Girl tote bags- also bought from Rexcraft.

Thank You cards for RB and FG- from Rexcraft.com

This is one of the 2 hankerchiefs I bought for my mother (www.invitationsbydawn.com). The other was from Fran's Hallmark.

Pen set I got my dad from Things Remembered. I had the top engraved "Father of the Bride" and the pens engraved with his name on them.

Both from Things Engraved- I bought the mini album for my mom (similiar one for Dad) & put childhood pics in them. I bought the jewelry box for Flower Girl. I wanted something that would last in addition to the other goodies.

Camera signs I made for each table.

The signs- I added our picture to each one also.

Our bathroom basket sign

A towel cake my friend's mom made for my bridal shower!

*** Keep in mind that when you travel somewhere tropical and you don't drink enough water- you will be prone to a yeast infection! Bring Monistat 7 with you on your trip. A lot of islands & places in Central America do not sell that. Also, (especially in Costa Rica), some places do not have Cranberries!!! They don't exist- thus no Cranberry juice for UTIs. Bridesmaids' umbrellas from www.golfumbrella.com (in case it rained!)- but it didn't. I don't recommend umbrellas from this company at all! Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen. One came cracked- I was told a new one would be sent. It never was. 6 months later I called again. The rep. told me to send a picture (to prove the crack). I did. 3 months later I had to call again to ask the same woman what was going on. She said "The system went down, they lost their invoices, she never received my email (bull!) and there weren't any of that kind left". Well, if they did their job a year ago, I would have one today. Order your umbrellas from somewhere else!!!!

Groomsmen's umbrellas

Cards I made & attached to each umbrella. Parents also got umbrellas.

Personalized bags for Bridesmaids- from LL Bean!!! We loved them!! Married girls got initials. Single ones got first names on them.

Beautiful Sister/Mother/Friend books I bought- written by Becky Kelly

Individual Photo Albums I made for each Bridesmaid. Baby pics of sisters. Family pics of sister in law. Growing up pictures of friends. All with scrapbooking. It took 7 months (working every night), 31 cartridges of ink & multiple trips to Treasure Island & Michaels.

Our living room floor after copying a bunch of pics for the album. The girls loved their albums. They were in tears.

Capcatchers for the men with their last names on them. They thought they were great. The groomsmen also got engraved money clips.

Books for family- sister/mother and hankerchiefs for Maid of Honor (sister), Mother & Father. Metal Angel for Maid of Honor. Parents also were given mini albums with baby pictures of my sister and me growing up with them. My mom & mother in law got LL Bean bags.. and I gave my Dad an engraved box with engraved pens in them.

Our favors- Mini Spruce Trees from www.greenworldproject.net Everyone thought they were extremely unique gifts. They were awesome & went well with my green color theme.

Favors were divided in baskets by groups of alphabet letters. For example, A-C had one basket. Seating cards were attached to the favors & guests picked them up as they came in. This was the easiest way for me to assign favors to people since some came in couples and some came alone & I didn't want any confusion over them.

Our seating cards that went with the favors. www.myjeanm.com

The beautiful saying we picked for the favors. The other side had planting directions.

Page 2 out of 3 of our program. It was a Catholic ceremony. We didn't do an entire mass. We did add in one thing a few days before the wedding- giving flowers to Mother Mary. That's not on the program. (Names are blocked out for privacy)

Church Baskets- The green handles match Bridesmaid's dresses. I bought the bows separately and attached them. One basket held the programs. One held the bubbles. Bubbles were from www.WeDoWed.com I got 192 bubbles (8 boxes) for a total of $43.33

My dress hanging up. It had lace, sequence & beads all over it. It just shimmered!!!

The inside of the View on the Hudson. The cocktail hour is in a glass room overlooking the Hudson River. The reception room has an octagon shape with windows also facing river & Tappan Zee Bridge. Picture taken by Abbey Photographers at another event. I got this pic from the Maitre'd. I used Celebration Studios as my photographers.

A cartoon my mom gave me before the wedding.

I made a newsletter for our bridal party 2 months before the wedding. Page 1 had a letter from Bride & Groom with our picture. It had "Bridesmaid's Stuff" & "Groomsmen's Stuff" also.

Page 3 of newsletter

Page 4 of newsletter. Pages 5-7 had pictures of all the bridemaids & groomsmen so they would recognize each other if they didn't already know each other.

This was the letter we put in the goodie bags for hotel guests. Bags had things like gum, chips, water bottles, tissues, playing cards, etc. in them.

The finished bathroom basket & sign (which were both "missing" at the end of the night according to an employee. I was so freaking pissed!) It included tissues, scope, clear nail polish, hairspray, deodorant samples, nail files, maxis/tampons, bandades, static guard, nail glue, needle & thread kits, contact lens solutions (Optifree & Renu), advil, lipstick, lint brush, hair pins, lotion, bobby pins, dental floss & hand sanitizer.

WHAT EVERYONE WANTS TO KNOW BUT IS AFRAID TO ASK!
"HOW MUCH DID IT COST?"

During wedding planning I decided to save all receipts to see exactly how much it would cost us. Obvioulsy rates will vary depending on where you are in the country and how much you DECIDE to spend. This was a wedding in New York- with vendors from New York and New Jersey

One great advantage was that we received a lot of $ back before, during and after the wedding. So even if we add up this entire amount, it's not how much we had to pay upfront.

Don't stress about the money. You will get money back- and you won't need a huge lump sum to start off. You can pay as you go. We did and we paid the majority of the wedding ourselves.
*** Prices will be uploaded again shortly~ Sorry!!!

VENDOR REVIEWS (now you’ll see what goes right and what can go wrong!)

Key
:) Great ? Don't know yet :( Terrible - So So (for a reason)

:( Headquarters Plaza Hotel, Morristown, NJ-
This was the reception site we originally booked with a year in advance. Seven months later, after paying $15,000, they called us to tell us there would be construction during our wedding. We had a crisis- and had to find a new reception site immediately. They wouldn't give us back our money until we signed a waiver saying we wouldn't sue them- when it was clearly their fault for breaking their own contract. We had to contact a lawyer who consulted us- and it became the biggest aggravation. My final letter to them is below. I would not EVEN consider them for your wedding. They are unethical and do not practice business in a professional way.

Letter to Headquarters Plaza Hotel, page 1

Letter to hotel, page 2

:( The Frelinghuysen Arboretum (Park), Morristown, NJ-
This is a park near HP Hotel where we paid $100 for a permit to take pictures the day of the wedding. When we canceled with the hotel, we asked for our money back from the park. The contract we were sent said we could get a full refund before 30 days. We were canceling 6 months in advance. They told us "no," then ignored our calls. When we finally got through to the manager he said they "forgot" to send us the page that said "weddings were not included." We reported them to the Better Business Bureau. I also suggest staying far away from this establishment.

:) The View on the Hudson, Piermont, NY-
We had our reception here. The facilities are gorgeous. The cocktail hour and ballroom both overlook the Hudson River and Tappan Zee Bridge. Sailboats go by. The sunset is beautiful. You can take pictures on the nearby pier (with a town permit for each car). The food was great. Although we felt the maitre'd talked down to us for a lot of the planning (I mostly felt that way so my DH had to make all the calls) and had a number of ignorant things to say about cultures (ignorant, not racist). However, he was great on the day of the wedding. He waited on us hand and foot- which was a big surprise. He watched over us like hawks and made sure we were okay. However, he did not let me help out to collect all my stuff at the end of the night "because I was the bride"- and I think that contributed to my bathroom basket & frame being stolen. Regardless of the 2 things I mention, this is a great place to have a reception, no doubt about it! I definitely recommend it.

- Sweet Music www.sweetmusicensembles.com
We had violin, cello, guitar & trumpet players for the church. Beautiful music. However, I did not hear them play when I got to the church and was waiting there in the back room. They were supposed to be playing for 30 minutes before I got there. I don't know why there was a silent time. I guess I'll have to wait for the video to see. You can get a sample CD from them or listen to their music on their website.

:) Pristine Limo, Oradell, NJ www.pristinelimo.com
It was not easy getting in touch with the owner the days before the wedding (a bit frustrating), but the guys who picked us up were outstanding. They were sooo nice! and they helped out soo much! They had great personalities! I would use them again if we did this all over.

:) Brownsell Florist, Haverstraw, NY (Helena).
This is the florist I use all the time for other special events. The flowers were absolutely gorgeous. I gave Helena, Sr. a picture of an idea I had for the bridesmaids flowers and she replicated it perfectly. Great great work. I can’t recommend them enough.

:( Elegancia Entertainment, Inc. (Latin DJs), Floral Park, NY -
One word about our DJ- HORRIBLE. Working with managers Jose & Lucy was fine- they made us very comfortable and sure that everything would be great. At our last meeting we met Vinnie, our DJ. We had a horrible terrible nightmarish experience with him. He had a sidekick too, who didn't help to make things better. Read my letter below for details. If you are considering the company, tell them "anyone but Vinnie." Save yourself the heartache.

Letter to DJ Managers, page 1

Letter to DJ Managers, page 2

:( Rexcraft -
For accessories, the company is fine. For invitation orders, they are terrible!!! I rush ordered picture invitations. They sent them to me without the picture!!!! They were all wrong. They said to email them the original picture but every time I did that, it wasn't clear enough on their end to use. I had to overnight it to them to redo. I told them I wanted the shipping charges dropped since I had to pay extra fees to resend the picture and the rush order/delivery was now pointless.

:( Flyte Tyme Limo, Ramsey, NJ-
I used them for the bachelorette party. Again- terrible experience. I booked an 8 passenger LIMO. They sent a 6 passenger SUV. We barely fit in the car- had to rearrange seats so the "skinny" people had to sit in the back. It was horrible and degrading. One person who was to meet us in the city couldn't even fit. We had the driver call the company to get the limo - and they didn't even have it available!!! They gave it away!!!!! Customer service offered a discount on our next use of their company- like there will be another time ?!?!?! My next door neighbor later told me they also screwed her son on his prom day! Don't use them- they'll screw you too to you on your wedding.

-TBT Limo for hotel shuttle www.tbtlimo.com -
A night or two before the wedding we read a horrible review for them on the knot which said they dropped the guests off but never picked them up. It seemed as though part of it was because they didn't get paid at drop off. That's a shi**ty thing to do to clients- but we already had a contract & it was so close to the wedding that we couldn't back out. We called the company to ask about payments and they said they needed payment at the beginning of the night (nice of them to tell us beforehand). Since no one in our wedding party was actually taking the shuttle, we had to get a groomsman's wife to give them the check. (We think they should really get half at the beginning and half at the end of the night!). One guest was left waiting and drove to the reception, but we don't really know the story behind it. There were no complaints from those who took the shuttle. Besides not agreeing with the payment policy, my only other complaint is that their pick -up schedule is very confusing. If you book them, make sure they give you exact times or have them explain how they pick guests up so you can relay that information to those staying at the hotel.

? Celebration Studios Photography, Saddle Brook/Ramsey, NJ -
(to be announced! We haven't seen pictures yet. The review will all depend on how the pictures/video come out.) We are still waiting for the proofs “to be done.”

:( David's Bridal, Paramus, NJ AND Nanuet, NY-
all I can say is what a nightmare. Elivira helped me my first few visits at the Paramus location. I picked out a bridesmaids dress and she told me it was a great selection & was available. I just needed to order them. When I brought 1 of my bridesmaids back to try it on that same week!!!, she then told me it wasn't available any longer. This is information they have on a sheet of paper behind the desk. She didn't tell me that until after I picked it & started having my BMs come in to try it on. I was so pissed bec. she assured me it was available & I didn't have to worry. I had to start all over.
It only got worse from there- I was lied to about having a "new" wedding dress sent to the store since the one they had was so dirty. I was sent another dirty one. Then I was lied to about how many times I'd have to come back for alterations- and of course, how much it would be. Alterations for both me & my BMs were a RIP OFF!!! Not only were we charged more than we should have been, but both stores did a horrible job. All 8 of my bridesmaids hated the alterations- and had one problem or another. My MOH was supposed to have it taken out for more room to breathe and they never did it (although she paid tons for it).
My dress had loose beads & pieces and they said they'd fix it- then they didn't, so I complained. The seamstress said that David's doesn't fix the dress- only "alters" them and cleans them. We started to argue in the dressing room so she said she'd have it fixed even though "they weren't supposed to." When I picked up my dress, not only were there unfixed beads and lace, but the hook on the back of the dress was suddenly in backwards so I couldn't hook my dress. Of course the hook problem wasn’t discovered until I put the dress on the day of the wedding. I had 2 bridesmaids help to put pins in it to keep it shut. If I had to do it all over again, I would buy the dresses there and get alterations done somewhere else. That is the best advice I can give for David's dresses. DO NOT get them altered there. Don't even consider it. It was a huge mistake on my part.

:) NYC Shoes, Parsippany, NJ -
a large selection of dyeable & regular bridal shoes. Dyeing done in 24 hours. Shoes were comfortable. If you live far, it's definitely worth the drive.

:) !!! Make up- www.MakeUp4AllOccasions.com GREAT wedding make up. Trials are $30. Brides are $100, bridesmaids $75. She'll come to you on your wedding day. I think she works with Bergen/Morris/Rockland Counties in NJ and NY. Make up was natural- came out awesome in the photographs and it lasted all day.

:) Battista Dance Studios, Hackensack, NJ-
Oscar was our teacher. I took private salsa & tango lessons with him a few years ago. We decided to go for a few wedding dance lessons to spice things up for our first dance. We didn't do a routine. Rather, we learned new steps (rumba based) so the dance was elegant and different from the usual. He is a very good teacher.

:) !!!! Wedsafe Insurance -
I purchased a policy when we started wedding planning. I submitted a claim because our first reception site, the Headquarters Plaza Hotel, sc*wed us over. We had to rebook somewhere else & it cost us about $2K more total. Within a month of submitting the claim, we got a check for the entire amount I requested!!! I was so happy and impressed. I originally did it for peace of mind. Now I feel it's been confirmed- it was soooooo well worth it!!! You just never know what could happen.

- Bed Bath & Beyond-
Great to register- but a nightmare to finish the registry if things are left over. Paramus, NJ workers were horrible. I don't even have the energy to tell the stories. I'm still waiting for an order from Lenox from August (a $600 order) I hope it'll get here by Christmas!

- Linens & Things-
When we registered the lady helping us was snotty to us (Paramus, NJ) because we registered at BBB first. We tried to close the registry after the wedding. Workers there couldn't help us find the items because they had no idea where ANYTHING was in the store. Then the computer said it was in the store- but it wasn't. Items not in the store couldn't be bought online. Finally I just gave up and said I wasn't going to finish it. This wasn't the first issue- for the the bridal shower- my mother ordered flatware from the L&T on Route 17 in Paramus, NJ. They must have screwed up the order 5 times before the right item came in. After she picked it up, they called me to tell me that it was in. Now, I am the bride!!! They told the bride that her flatware was in that her mother ordered. It's a good thing that I knew about it already! How stupid can someone get?!
**One piece of advice about finishing registries- you get 10% off all non-Lenox orders...but most of us receive 20% coupons in the mail. IT's better to buy the items with the coupons- so start collecting them now for later!

:) Liberty Travel, River Edge, NJ- mcmahonh@libertytravel.com
Helen is our agent there. I used to work for Liberty (in NYC) so I know exactly how packages are put together. I trust that Liberty had what I was looking for. Helen put together a package for us that worked & we went with it. She's a good agent- just double check all your paperwork before you leave the office to make sure it states what you booked verbally (I suggest this for all agencies). Human error is possible. If you book with her, please tell her Rose sent you (I don't get extras for that!)

:( me
:) fianc Dante Zeller Tuxedo, Nanuet, NY
My father was measured by a young guy there and I just had this feeling when the suit came it would be wrong. I was right! The shirt was too long. The vest was too small. One pant leg was too long. How do you screw that up? We had to return the next day (& he lives out of state). Thank goodness we had a day or two before the wedding. There was an older lady in there that fixed everything right up. I wish she had measured him to begin with. My fiance says he has no complaints about the place since they fixed us his 2nd alterations right there. I just think there were one too many for my father’s suit. If you go there- ask for the lady to do the measurements- not the younger guy.

-Comfort Inn & Suites, Nanuet, NY -
Everything went pretty smoothly except they did not tell us that they would be renovating the pool the weekend of the wedding. We had out of town guests staying for 2 nights who could not enjoy the pool as planned. We felt this was information they should have told us about, especially since we had so many rooms blocked off for the wedding. You have to pay a $100 bar fee if you have to pay a $100 bar fee if you want to have the bar open at midnight. The bartender decides when it closes. There was another wedding party there. I’m assuming we all paid the $100 fee.

*** Everyone is right when they say “no matter how much planning you do, something will go wrong.” I am the planning queen- and things happened that were totally unexpected- even though they had been planned a certain way. In the end, enjoy what is good & deal with what needs to be dealt with that goes wrong. After it’s all done- think back on the beautiful moments & the meaning of the whole day :)

CHANGING YOUR NAME
1- get your marriage license (the one from the town clerk, not the church one)
2- go to DMV to change your driver's license. Bring your marriage certificate and title of car (to change registration). I had to fill out 2 forms- and they made me take a new picture- so be ready for that!
3- get a new social security card
Forms and locations of offices are on this site:
http://ssa-custhelp.ssa.gov/cgi-bin/ssa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=80
You'll need to bring old ID (such as a Passport) and new ID (new license & registration) with you. You need to also bring your marriage certificate with you. I waited an hour on a 10 foot line. It was just as bad as the DMV. They said it will arrive in 2 weeks in the mail. (They never took my old card back which I thought they would do).
4. Change name on bank account- My bank asked for marriage certificate and proof of new name (license). Surprisingly it was quick & painless. The account number stays the same. Make sure you order new checks!
5. Begin to change credit cards (don't need proof), Roth IRA, Annuity, Car Insurance, Health Insurance (HR/Personnel Dept. can do that)-family plan?, your name at work, bills, school loans, professional certifications (if you want), direct deposit (Payroll dept.) etc. etc. ect.!!!
6. If you already own a house/condo under your maiden name you don't have to change it. If you sell your home at a later time, they only ask for proof of name change. You can't, however, change certain house bills without that name change.

You're New Jersey!
You don't just live in the suburbs, you define the culture of all Surburbia. You drive everywhere you go, love to eat at diners, and pretend to have a garden. While everyone knows that your house was built on a toxic waste dump, you do your best to hide this information and keep referring to those mythical gardens. Driving on a road without paying for it was a revolutionary experience you once had that you still think about all the time. You owe the Mafia so many favors that you're thinking of renaming yourself Sicily.
