The following is from SDK2007's bio. She shows step by step how to dye your slip.
After seeing PrincessLizzie's gorgeous crinoline, I decided that I was going to dye mine, especially after I found my beautiful shoes. It was actually pretty easy! Just follow all of the directions on the RIT box, and you should have no issues.
Slip before
I washed my crinoline the night before and let it hang to dry until Saturday afternoon.
I started filling the washer with hot water and got the dyebath ready to go. It looks really pink! Belle, Shelley’s MinPin, wanted to help, hee.
You may want to have someone help you when you are ready to start. You have to get your crinoline completely wet before immersing it in the dyebath, so I just dunked mine in the filled washer. Be careful of the hot water! I got it wet, then Steve poured in the dye; and BEFORE I put my crinoline back in, I turned the washer back on, so that it would agitate and mix the dyebath really well. Then I put my crinnie in and let it go. Keep a close eye on your washer, you may have to reset it so that the wash cycle is long enough.

After about 30 minutes (give or take a little, depending on the color you want), let the whole cycle complete, and then wash your crinoline. Here’s where I made my first mistake – I should have taken it out and untwisted it during the dyeing process and before the first wash. The color looked great though!

It is a very, very good idea to pull your crinoline out and untwist it sometime during the dyeing process. You should have rubber gloves on, so just reach in and pull it out. Yes, it may be messy, it's going to be hot, but do you really want a tie-dye crinoline? I didn't think so.

Granted, that last one is a crappy pic, but you see what I mean, don't you? I actually ran my crinoline through another wash, with bleach this time and that evened out some of the color. The only part that is really tie-dyed is the top, which no one will see anyways, so that doesn’t bother me. It turned out pretty after all, and I’m excited to see what it will look like with my dress. Bellie, of course, had to protect her baby from the Pink Puff Monster.

Thank you SDK2007 for sharing your tips and pics.
