Please note: all professional photos were taken by Connie Miller. Please do not use any of her pics without giving her credit. Thanks!!!
All the Little Details

Accessories: Pearl stud earrings, Tiara by Monet, Necklace by www.treasuresbyjc.com (note: shameless self promotion)
|

My bouquet: Venice gerbera daisies, white roses, and pink & white cymbidium orchids
|

Bridesmaid bouquets: Hot pink gerbera daisies, dahlias, and roses with lime green cymbidium and dendrobium orchids
|

Grooms bout: White cymbidium orchids
|

These carnation pomanders were hung on every other chair down the ceremony aisle
|

Tissue packets: we printed the words "For your tears of joy" on
pink vellum envelopes and stuffed them with a few tissues.
We added black satin bows and voila! Tissue packets like Martha's without all the folding.
|

Our programs. Our first dance was "True Companion" by Marc Cohn so that kind of became the theme of our printed items. To make these we used
black linen cardstock folded in half with a printed program insert inside.
We punched holes through both and threaded a big fuchsia ribbon through to hold them together.
|

The memory candle we lit in honor of my Dad and others who had passed away before our wedding day. We lit it at the very beginning of our ceremony.
|

The rings: plain-ish platinum bands from Barmakian's
|

I wore my Mom's veil for the ceremony. It was my something old.
|

Bouquet & rings shot. My engagement ring was also from Barmakian's
|

Sign on the guestbook table
|

The favors: cocktail glasses from Crate & Barrel filled with hot pink M&Ms
|

The placecards were tied to tiny bottles of bubbles that were used during our entrance to the reception and our first dance
|

The cake table. We had family wedding photos arranged on the table behind the cake for a personal touch
|

One of the reception tables all set up.I loved the view of the city skyline in the background
|

The tables were named after our favorite places in Boston. We printed the table names on cardstock and included a short blurb on why the landmark is
significant to us
|

One of the table cameras. They were super ugly so we printed a poem that I wrote on Stardream paper, folded one around each camera, and tied them off with a satin bow
|

Closeup of the DIY photo luminary centerpieces. Our florist added lime green orchid blooms to give them some color. For more details on how we made them, scroll to the bottom.

The Wedding Party

Groomsmen posing in the honeymoon suite before the ceremony. I think this shot looks like an album cover for a geeky band. : )

Posing with my new SIL
|

The whole wedding party. The BMs wore long black satin dresses of their own choosing and my MOH wore a black & white satin dress by
Jessica McClintock.. The GM wore black tuxes with black vests and wine-colored ties. I like to think
of the color as more of a "man fuchsia", though.
|

We snuck a kiss on the way up to the reception!
|

BM accessories: each BM wore a real orchid bloom in their hair. They also wore 3 strand pearl & rhinestone chokers with matching earrings

The banquet staff suprised us by lining the large windows with extra tealight candles. It was so romantic!
|

Our first dance was to True Companion by Marc Cohn. I can honestly say that it was the best 3 minutes of my life (so far!)

More Details...
Centerpieces
We made our own centerpieces. We printed black & white images on vellum paper and glued the vellum to glass cylinder vases. Inside the vases we placed lit tealight candles. There were three different sized vases per table and they were set on a black square plate with white marbles. Our florist scattered lime green dendrobium orchids on the plate at the base of the candles for added effect. We also had 4 extra tealight candles in black glass holders around the main centerpiece.
DIY luminary supplies & where to get them:
*8.5" x 11" vellum paper: www.paperandmore.com
*6.5", 7", 10" tall glass cylinder vases: www.save-on-crafts.com
*Clear cup tealight candles: www.candlesjustonline.com
*Black satin ribbon, 1/4" to hide the top and side seam, 1 1/2" to hide the bottom seam: www.papermart.com
*Roll-on adhesive dispenser (to glue the vellum to the vase): from the scrapbooking section of AC Moore craft store
*Glue gun (to glue the ribbon to the vase)
*Black square plates: www.galasource.com
Here are a few closeups taken while we were making them:

We're named the tables after Boston landmarks that are significant to us. Each table had 3 different pictures of the place
it was named after.
We also added fuchsia table runners to all the guest tables, cake table, guest book table, etc. and I think it made a world of
difference. We bought the fabric at JoAnn Fabrics on clearance for $3.99 and my wonderful mother sewed them all for us.
All in all I think we spent about $15-$20 per table. It was a lot of work, though. :)

DIY Invitations
Our DIY Invitations were originally inspired by
designs from www.notfromabox.com, particularly the Park
Avenue design, but we wanted square envelopment-type invites so we ended up just making them ourselves.
Below you can see us using a template to get the main invitation glued onto the backing in the right
place:
Here you can see all the pieces layed out as they are assembled:
The front of the finished product (we are not using traditional inner envelopes so peoples names are
printed here):
The inside of the finished product with the main invitation on the right side and the other pieces
stacked on the left:
All in all these invitations cost about $100 total to make (not including postage). The black paper
is a linen cardstock that I got from www.paperandmore.com. The
pink ribbon is a single-faced satin ribbon that I got from www.papermart.com and the white cardstock is
Stardream Quartz from www.envelopemall.com. I HIGHLY recommend
EnvelopeMall if you want to buy from the Stardream line because it is SOOO much cheaper than www.paper-source.com. All of the printing was done on the Xerox printer at my office.
NOTE: the Stardream cardstock was an absolute NIGHTMARE to print on, so much that Kinkos and Staples wouldn't even try it. It is very expensive to have it professionally printed
because it cannot go through most standard laser printers and you can not print it on a deskjet or inkjet because the ink does not dry
throughly and will smudge when you mail it. I wish I had known this before I started the project. :)
I should mention that I used the assembly directions by knottie PatricksAngel to put our invitations together and they were SOO helpful!
