*******Readings and/or Vows*********
1. If I had to live my entire life in just one day
I would choose today
If I had one dream to fulfill
It would be this dream
If I could be with only one person
It would be you.
I would speak so only you would hear
I would laugh so only you would laugh in return
I would cry so only you would hug away the hurt.
If all my wishes were to come true
they have this moment
If luck ever shined in my life
It it is now
If sorrow comes tomorrow
I have already loved a lifetime…today.
~Kelly Allyson Schwenk~

20. Love me because I try to touch life within the framework of uncertainty. Love in me the shadows of my indecision as I strive to gain knowledge. Love in me the silence of my hurts and the noise of my confusions. Love me for the feeling of my heart not the fears of my mind. Love me in my search for the truth though I may stumble upon fallacy. Love me as I pursue my dreams sometimes retarded by illusions. Love me as I grow to know myself even during the times of stagnation. Love me because I seek God's harmony not man's discord. Love me for my body that I wish to share with affection, wrapping you in warmth. Love me because we are different as we are the same. Love me that our time together will be spent in growing, kindling the world with
understanding. Love me not with expectations but with hope. I will love you the same.

22. The Art of Marriage (author unknown)
The little things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say "I love you" at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude of duty or sacrifice,
but in the spirit of joy.
(WE'RE OMITTING THIS NEXT SECTION)
It is speaking words of appreciation and deomstrating
gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not expecting the husbnad to wear a halo or his wife to have wings of an angel.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience, understanding, and a sense of humor.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in
which each can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual, and
the obligation is reciprocal.
It is no only marrying the right partner,
it is being the right partner.
23.HINDU MARRIAGE POEM
You have become mine forever.
Yes, we have become partners.
I have become yours.
Hereafter, I cannot live without you.
Do not live without me.
Let us share the joys.
We are word and meaning, unite.
You are thought and I am sound.
May the nights be honey-sweet for us.
May the mornings be honey-sweet for us.
May the plants be honey-sweet for us.
May the earth be honey-sweet for us.
24.Apache Wedding Blessing
Now you will feel no rain,
For each of you will be shelter
to the other.
Now you will feel no cold,
For each of you will be warmth
to the other.
Now there is no more loneliness,
For each of you will be companion
to the other.
Now you are two bodies,
But there is only one life before you.
Go now to your dwelling place
To enter into the days of your
togetherness.
And may your days be
good and long upon the earth
25.Two Trees” by Janet Miles
A portion of your soul has been
entwined with mine.
A gentle kind of togetherness, while
separately we stand.
As two trees deeply rooted in
separate pots of ground,
While their topmost branches
come together,
Forming a miracle of lace
against the heavens.
26. I love you much more than yesterday, but only half as much as tomorrow.
27.This is a merging of vows that I personally like.
You can find all of these pieces throughout this page.
Today, (name), I join my life to yours, not merely as your (husband/wife),
but as your partner in parenthood,
your ally in conflict,
your greatest fan and your toughest adversary.
Your comrade in adventure,
your fun in life
your student and your teacher,
your consolation in disappointment,
your accomplice in trouble,
your strength in your need,
your understanding in confusion,
your lover and companion,
but most of all your friend.
May the nights be honey-sweet for us.
May the mornings be honey-sweet for us.
May the plants be honey-sweet for us.
May the earth be honey-sweet for us.
From this day forward
You shall not walk alone.
My heart will be your shelter,
And my arms will be your home

3. Handfasting & Declaration of Intent
Know now before you go further, that since your lives have crossed in this life you
have formed ties between each other. As you seek to enter this state of matrimony
you should strive to make real, the ideals which give meaning to both this
ceremony and the institution of marriage.
With full awareness, know that within this circle you are not only declaring your
intent to be handfasted before your friends and family, but you speak that intent
also to your creative higher powers.
The promises made today and the ties that are bound here greatly strengthen
your union; they will cross the years and lives of each soul's growth.
Do you still seek to enter this ceremony?
Yes, We Seek to Enter.
In times past it was believed that the human soul shared characteristics with all
things divine. It is this belief which assigned virtues to the cardinal directions;
East, South, West and North. It is in this tradition that a blessing is offered in
support of this ceremony.
Blessed be this union with the gifts of the East. Communication of the heart, mind,
and body Fresh beginnings with the rising of each Sun. The knowledge of the
growth found in the sharing of silences.
Blessed be this union with the gifts of the South. Warmth of hearth and home The
heat of the heart's passion The light created by both To lighten the darkest of
times.
Blessed be this union with the gifts of the West. The deep commitments of the
lake The swift excitement of the river The refreshing cleansing of the rain The all
encompassing passion of the sea.
Blessed be this union with the gifts of the North Firm foundation on which to build
Fertility of the fields to enrich your lives A stable home to which you may always
return.
Each of these blessings from the four cardinal directions emphasizes those things
which will help you build a happy and successful union. Yet they are only tools.
Tools which you must use together in order to create what you seek in this union.
I bid you look into each others eyes.
[Groom's Name], Will you cause her pain?
I May (What was actually said was an emphatic yes)
Is that you intent?
No
[Bride's Name], Will you cause him pain?
I may
Is that you intent?
No
*To Both*
Will you share each other's pain and seek to ease it?
Yes
And so the binding is made. Join your hands
*First cord is draped across the bride and grooms hands*

Yes
[Groom's Name], Will you share her laughter?

*To Both*

No
[Groom's Name], Will you burden her?

Yes
[Groom's Name], will you share her dreams?
Yes
*To Both*

No
[Bride's Name], will you cause him anger?
I may
Is that your intent?
No
*To Both*

We Will
And so the binding is made.

I will
[Groom's Name], Will you honor her?
I will
*To Both*

We shall never do so
And so the binding is made.
*Drape sixth chord across the couples hands*
*Tie chords together while saying:*
The knots of this binding are not formed by these chords but instead by your
vows. Either of you may drop the chords, for as always, you hold in your own
hands the making or breaking of this union.
*Once chords are tied together they are removed and placed on altar*
********blending of sand ceremony****
This ceremony requires three small vials, one for you and your fiancé to pour the
sand into and two for each of you to pour the sand from. Each of the two vials of
colored sand symbolizes the separate lives of the bride and groom and their
families.
Use two different colored sands which you can find at most arts and crafts stores.
Small glass bottles or vials are usually found there as well. A nice touch is to pour
the colored sands into a small "heart-shaped" bottle, melt some wax to seal it and
hold the sand in place, then seal it with a cork or lid. Next, have your names and
your wedding date etched in the glass bottle.
After the minister reads the text below (or any text you choose), the bride and
groom pour the two containers of sand into the third container simultaneously.
You may wish to leave a small amount of sand in each vial to symbolize that
although you are now joined as one, you are still free to express your own
individuality.
If you are including children in the ceremony, obtain several extra vials with
different colored sand for each child.
The combined sand makes a wonderful wedding keepsake for the bride and
groom and a constant reminder of their promises on their wedding day.
1. Minister: _________ and _________, today you are making a life-long commitment
to share the rest of your lives with each other. Your relationship is symbolized
through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand; one, representing
you, _________ and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be,
and the other representing you, _________, and all that you were and all that you
are, and all that you will ever be.
As you each hold your sand the separate containers of sand represent your lives to
this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together,
your lives also join together as one.
You may now blend the sand together symbolizing the uniting of the bride and
groom into one.
Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the
individual containers, so will your marriage be
2.Bride, Groom and Children
Minister: _________ and _________, today you are making a life-long commitment
to share the rest of your lives with each other and honor your children as well.
Your family relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these individual
containers of sand; one, representing you, _________ and all that you were, all that
you are, and all that you will ever be, one representing you, _________, and all that
you were and all that you are, and all that you will ever be and another container
for each child.
There are children who will share in this marriage. The gathering of this new
family will have a deep influence upon them. We realize that in order for the home
to be a happy one, it is essential that there be love and understanding between
the children and the adults being married.
As you each hold your sand the separate containers of sand represent your lives to
this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together,
your lives also join together as one family.
You may now blend the sand together symbolizing the uniting of the children and
bride and groom into one.
Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the
individual containers, so will your marriage and your family be.
3.Bride, Groom and Parents
_________ and _________, today you are making a life-long commitment
to share the rest of your lives with each other. Your relationship is symbolized
through the pouring of these individual containers of sand; one, representing you,
_________ and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and
the other representing you, _________, and all that you were and all that you are,
and all that you will ever be.
As you each hold your sand the separate containers of sand represent your lives to
this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together,
your lives also join together as one family.
At this time, I would invite the parents of _________ and _________ to come
forward. These four vials of sand represent the bride and groom and each family.
You may now blend the sand together symbolizing the uniting of the two families
into one.
Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the
individual containers, so will your marriage and your families be.
*******Rose ceremony*****
the Bride and Groom give each other a Rose. Two roses are
all that is necessary. The Rose Ceremony is placed at the end of the ceremony just
before being pronounced husband and wife. In the old language of flowers, a
single red rose always meant "I love you". The Rose ceremony gives recognition to
the new and most honorable title of "Husband and Wife".
"Your gift to each other for your wedding today has been your wedding rings -
which shall always be an outward demonstration of your vows of love and respect;
and a public showing of your commitment to each other.
You now have what remains the most honorable title which may exist between a
man and a woman - the title of "husband" and "wife." For your first gift as
husband and wife, that gift will be a single rose.
In the past, the rose was considered a symbol of love and a single rose always
meant only one thing - it meant the words "I love you." So it is appropriate that for
your first gift - as husband and wife - that gift would be a single rose.
Please exchange your first gift as husband and wife. In someways it seems like
you have not done anything at all. Just a moment ago you were holding one small
rose - and now you are holding one small rose. In some ways, a marriage
ceremony is like this. In some ways, tomorrow is going to seem no different than
yesterday. But in fact today, just now, you both have given and received one of the
most valuable and precious gifts of life - one I hope you always remember - the
gift of true and abiding love within the devotion of marriage.
_________ and _____________, I would ask that where ever you make your home in
the future - whether it be a large and elegant home - or a small and graceful one
- that you both pick one very special location for roses; so that on each
anniversary of this truly wonderful occasion you both may take a rose to that spot
both as a recommitment to your marriage - and a recommitment that THIS will be
a marriage based upon love.
In every marriage there are times where it is difficult to find the right words. It is
easiest to hurt who we most love. It is easiest to be most hurt by who we most
love. It might be difficult some time to words to say "I am sorry" or "I forgive you";
"I need you" or "I am hurting". If this should happen, if you simply can not find
these words, leave a rose at that spot which both of you have selected - for that
rose than says what matters most of all and should overpower all other things and
all other words.
That rose says the words: "I still love you." The other should accept this rose for
the words which can not be found, and remember the love and hope that you both
share today.
__________ and ________, if there is anything you remember of this marriage
ceremony, it is that it was love that brought you here today, it is only love which
can make it a glorious union, and it is by love which your marriage shall endure."

*******"photobooth******
*Directions: 1. Set up an area with your backdrop (could be fabric or a wall)
2. Set up your camera on a fixed tripod (We used a digital camera
3. Test the exposure/on camera flash and framing a few times and make adjustments as needed
4. Mark off the maximum area (with tape) that your guests can stand in and still be visible through the lense
5A. Have your guests use a remote control or cable release to take the pictures themselves (Be sure to have easy instructions to let your guests know what/how to do this... we made a simple illustration and had it framed next to the area) OR
5B. Have someone man the area and take the picture for your guests. TIPS: *Have someone (the band/DJ) announce to the guests to remember to visit the photobooth before the night ends.
*Place the booth in an area where there is some traffic but not too much to distract.
*We used professional lighting but an on camera flash will work as well. *We also had our guests write a message to us before their picture to place next to their picture in a photo guest book album... *
Have fun!

From bride
Today I'm a Bride
Tomorrow a Wife
Forever Your Daughter
Best Friends for Life"
Down the aisle
Today we'll go
Thank you, daddy
I love you so"
from the groom
For my Mother's
tears of joy
From the Groom
Your little boy"
I'm so glad you're here today
as I take a wife
I am who I am, you see
Because you're in my life
For my Mother's
tears of joy
From the Groom
Your little boy"
A reason to give dad a gift.
My Dad has something in his eye
so if today you see him cry.
Afraid that soon I'll be gone
that is what he's dwelling on
He sees his little girl that way
on his Daughter's Wedding Day.
And so this Hankie for his tears
to dab he eyes and calm his fears.
So if you see my Father cry
you'll know just what was in his eye
To catch a kiss hankie
you might need this for your tears
when at last, your bride appears
To wipe the sweat from your brow
right before you says your vows
And on that day of wedded bliss
catch the lipstick from her kiss
And years from now, as memories fade
shades of love, you will have saved
A trace of her you'll take away
captured on your Wedding Day
From mother to mother
"Together as one
Our Daughter
Your Son
*********Alternitive for clinking glasses****
thanks to timsfi for all of these
1. Bride and Groom Trivia. Make up questions about yourselves (like where was your first date, where are you going on your honeymoon, the first movie you saw together, where and when he proposed, favorite foods, where you met, etc.). When glasses start to clink, the DJ can ask questions during the reception and you kiss only when someone shouts out the correct answer.
Some question ideas
Where was B born? Where was G born?
What were B & G's first jobs?
How long have B & G. been "officially" a couple?
How long have B & G been engaged?
Where did B & G meet?
Who introduced B & G? ...etc
2. If you're into gambling, have a pair of fuzzy dice for someone to roll. even you kiss, odd they have to kiss someone
3. If you're into golf, have a putting contest. Designate an area and have a putting matt on hand. Have your DJ or bandleader let your guests know what has to happen in order to get you to kiss. They can even do some type of drum roll every time someone gets up there. An added bonus…If they miss, you designate whom they kiss. You can even use other ideas…shoot a puck into a net (if you’re hockey fans), kick a soccer ball into a net (soccer fans) etc.
a poem for number 3.
To this formal affair
We added a bit of flair
Do NOT clink your glasses
To get us to kiss
Instead you must putt
And try not to miss
If you sink the ball in one shot
We will kiss on the spot
4. Have noisemakers on the table (kazoos, harmonicas etc.---you can by the cheap kid's kind) and the table has to play Here Comes the Bride for you to kiss.
5. A guest has to get up and tell a story about you, your husband or both. After they're done, you kiss. I've seen this done and the stories range from hilarious to very touching.
6. Show us how it’s done -Every couple that attends the reception has their name in the bowl (use your RSVP cards), and when people start clinking glasses, someone can pull out a name. In order for the B&G to kiss. That couple that gets pulled has to kiss, and then the B&G have to kiss the same way. Make sure you pull out single guests and those guests that would never participate.
7. Each table has to get up and sing a song with the word LOVE in it in order for the bride and groom to kiss. You could also do songs using the word Kiss.
Poems to use
To this formal affair, we've added some flair.
We won't do a thing if we hear your glass cling
It will take more than this, if you want us to kiss.
In your suits and dresses, you all look so grand.
Now gather your table everyone must stand.
Sing us a song in which the word "Love" appears.
Only then will we listen. only then will we hear.
Give it your best, it's your chance to star.
We promise the result will be best by far
8. Make a "list" of "groups" attending out wedding. The first time the glasses are hit you and the groom kiss, the next you or the DJ will ask that our parents kiss their spouses, the next the wedding party, grandparents etc. and so on from there
9.Select a charity and kiss only when a donation has been made to the charity in a jar supplied by the bridal couple.
10. have each guest write a hakui (a japanense poem)
about the G, B, B&G as a couple, about their wedding day. Remember a hakui is made by Syllables
5 syllables on the first line
7 syllables on the second line
5 syllables on the thrid line
example...
On your wedding day
Bob and Jane comitted love for life
Lovely bride and groom
Sally and Robert
Kissey faces all the time
will have lots of kids
since 4/27/04
