The Hornstra wedding was planned around the themes of Love and diversity, including a "Sweet Love" candy bar, a "Love Drink" ice sculpture, and table signs that included the word "love" in a unique language for each table. The maid of honor and groomsman, USC classmates, composed and sang an original love song for the bride and groom. The guests were engaged in an amazing full-day celebration of love and diversity. The East-West cultures were evident in the wedding ceremony at the St. Denis Catholic Church in Diamond Bar, CA, followed by a traditional Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony at the fully decorated “The Country Estates” club house. The newlyweds served tea to their parents. In return, the newlyweds received lucky red envelopes stuffed with money or jewelry. After the tea ceremony, a delightful Chinese banquet was provided for our guests. Traditional Chinese instruments including the Pipa and Guzheng were played live by Barbie Chien as entertainment. The reception was held at the fabulous Pacific Palms Resort on the hill in Industry, California. Its extraordinary Colonial Ballroom and its terrace are most famous of the stunning, panoramic views of the city below. As the light changed through the evening, the venue had become the most beautiful background for the continuous multicultural experience: live piano at cocktail hour, “love” drinks flowing through a “love” logo ice sculpture, a "family style" 10 course Chinese dinner, novel deco mood changing LED lighting, pin lighting for each centerpiece (provided by Jack Hou), grand Dragon and Phoenix decorative ice sculptures, uniquely lighted sweet heart table, exquisite floral arrangements, and finally exciting Chinese lion dancers/drummers to wrap up this dramatic and incredible night. Following traditions from Taiwan, the amazing Make up artist, Theresa Huang had created total of four styles for the bride on the wedding day: The Elegance designer bride’s dress featured an extravagantly long train at the church; a sleek and sexy Chinese red dress for the tea ceremony; a 1940s-inspired, Vintage look for the reception, and at last, a romantic pink princess ball gown for cake cutting. All of these beautiful moments are documented by the talented photographer, Desi Baytan, and a professional and wonderful wedding coordinator, Helen Tan, helped to organize this full day of events.
