A Trip Down Memory Lane...
Proposal Location: Nevada
Aaron told me that we were going for a hike up at Lake Tahoe for the day. I love to hike and was very excited that he had planned a special afternoon for the two of us. As we drove around the lake, I kept pointing out great hiking spots and tried to get him to pull over to get to it. He insisted that he knew the perfect trail and we kept driving.
When we finally arrived at the spot we got out of the car and headed down the trail towards the lake. I spotted an envelope hanging from a tree out of the corner of my eye and thought, "Oh, how cute!" having no clue it was for me. Aaron walked over and told me to check it out. Confused, I walked over and opened the envelope. Inside was a card with a picture of a bar from back home. Inside the card it said, "Where we first met". Shocked and speechless we continued on. When we came to the next tree with an envelope I opened it up to find a restaurant and a note saying, "the place where you first realized your feelings for me".
We continued down "memory lane" opening more and more memories of our dating life including the place where we first said "I love you" and our first weekend away together. As we got to the bottom of the trail, Aaron pulled a card out of his pocket and handed it to me. It read, "They say that when you marry someone, you marry their WHOLE family, so Casey..." I started to tear up because I knew people had to be waiting around the bend.
As we turned the corner, his entire family was waiting for us with different signs; each sign asking me to be part of their family as a sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, and auntie. (I was sobbing! And the kids were so cute!) We proceeded to the dock where a card awaited with a picture of our exact location that read, "This is the place where I proposed". Aaron took me out onto the dock where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
Of course, I said YES! All of his family and the other random beach-goers and hikers stopped to congratulate us and cheer. It was the most thoughtful and romantic proposal, and more than I ever could have imagined.
