Newlyweds for 238 days!
ABOUT CRYSTEN
I will be finishing up a degree in church work at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN a couple weeks before the wedding! I am utterly and stunningly beautiful (according to my fiance...), but I try to keep it down so I don't get too obnoxious! I love downhill skiing when I get the chance and Christmas will always be my favorite season. I can't wait to marry Daniel and start a life together! I am so blessed!
ABOUT DANIEL
I love family so I am definitely excited about the opportunity to start my own. I am currently the Program Director at Camp Io-Dis-E-Ca just down past Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I enjoy my work very much. I currently live with my dog Sophie (she's no Crysten, but she gets me out for a walk) and I enjoy singing, jazz, food, movies, and personal study.
HOW WE MET
We worked at Lutheran Island Camp together the summer of 2004. Crysten was about to become a freshman in college; Daniel a senior. After two months of getting to know each other, Daniel fell, and he fell hard. Crysten stepped on his head by not returning his affection. After a year of college, Crysten realized that there was something so much better staring her right in the face. So during our second summer of working together at LIC, Crysten got over herself and fell for Daniel. We surprised everyone, including ourselves, but it's been nothing but a great ride ever since.
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

HOW IT HAPPENED
Daniel was going to come up to the cities on that Friday to spend the weekend. Instead, Crysten decided to go and surprise him in Iowa on Thursday night...Little did she know, she ruined his plans! He was going to propose using a treasure map/hunt on that Saturday morning, but that wasn't going to work.
We were going to go back to the cities on Friday night, but a snowstorm came through right where we were supposed drive through. We ended up staying in Iowa for an extra night.
Daniel had to go to plan B. So on Friday, the Director's wife took Crysten shopping for the whole afternoon. Crysten knew that we were just going to have a quiet evening, watch some movies and cook some supper. After an afternoon at the mall, when Crysten got back, Daniel already had supper made. This wasn't unusual because Daniel cooks.
Before supper, he came out with a pair of glasses on and asked what Crysten thought about the frames. This wasn't too unusual because he had been complaining about his eyesight for the past month. He set down the glasses and the case and then we enjoyed our supper.
After supper, Daniel got up and started to put his dishes away. He asked if Crysten would put his glasses back into his case and she, of course, agreed.
I walked over to where his glasses were, opened up the case and saw something shiney inside! He freaked out because I opened the case a little tilted right above the sink, but it all ended up being ok!
He came over and got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. He said that I never actually said yes, that I just started crying and nodding.
