ABOUT DEENA
I am currently teaching special education at East Millbrook Magnet Middle School. It is my first year at this school but I just love it so far! I've been living in Raleigh, NC for about 6 years. I do miss Michigan from time to time. But the weather here is too great to go back!

ABOUT MIKE
Mike grew up on the coast of NC. He has been living in Raleigh for something like 10 years now. We met at Whitaker Park Apartments. Mike is currently working for IBM. And he works a lot but he seems to like it most of the time. He has been restoring a 1970 Volvo 1800E. We were hoping to have it ready for the wedding but I'm not sure if that's going to happen. HOW WE MET
We met shortly after I moved into Whitaker Park Apartments in August 2003. Using his little rat-terrier named Cricket, he lured me in! Then some time around Thanksgiving it became official! We've been together ever since!

HOW IT HAPPENED
I had no clue!!!!
After returning home from watching the 'Canes lose one of the playoff games on the Jumbotron at the RBC Center, we poured some wine and went out on the back deck to enjoy the warm summer evening. Mike had sent me flowers at work and we decided it would be nice to bring them outside and turn on the garden lights.
As we were watching the fireflies flit around under an almost full moon, Mike's dog Cricket went tearing off after a cat! Being such a good dog, she quickly came back when called.
Mike knelt down to praise her for returning so quickly. I expected him to stand back up but he did not. The next thing I knew he had pulled something out of his pocket and was asking me to marry him.
I enthusiastically said yes!
He insists that he planned the whole thing out. Including the timing of the cat! Isn't he the best!!!!

ABOUT THE BIG DAY
So a priest, a rabbi and a duck walk on to Atlantic Beach at sunset... what is this, a joke?
Ok, actually we have Sara Stein, a non-denominational minister who happens to be Jewish, officiating the ceremony.
We are hoping to have Father Bill Long, the priest at Mike's parent's church, participate.
The father of the groom has connections! He will be providing the duck!
And yes, we will be saying our "I do's" at sunset on Atlantic Beach!
