ABOUT JEANETTE
I am a San Francisco native, now residing in San Leandro. I am the youngest of three children and my family and friends are extremely important to me. I absolutely LOVE the color blue (or any shade of blue for that matter), which obviously means that some color shade of blue will be our wedding color. My interests include eating at different restaurants, hanging out with my friends and family, dancing around the house and making up silly songs that I sing to Michael.
ABOUT MICHAEL
Michael is a computer freak. He loves anything and everything having to do with computers. But most importantly, he loves me above all! :O) (I think you can tell who's writing this). He's an awesome person to be around...always full of laughter and jokes. His favorite word is "wow!"
HOW WE MET
Michael and I met on January 28, 2005, which was exactly one week after my family and I had laid my father to rest. Not really wanting to go out that Friday night, I was watching TV to the point were I became extremely bored with flipping through the channels...I guess the folks that work for these television networks assume that everyone goes out on Friday nights. Finally, I decided to jump on the computer to see what was going on in cyber world. The YAHOO chat room (San Francisco Bay Area, to be exact) seemed the most appealing...boy, was I wrong. After a half hour of ignoring all the IMs, I was bored...again! So I decided to log off, but right at that split second where I was about to click that little x, "freakmonkymik" pops up on my screen and asks "What's the haps?" My response: "Chillin". From there, we make small talk, er in this case, small "chat" and two hours later, we're still typing away, which meant that it was already pretty late at night...okay, it was already early Saturday morning. He then asks if he can call me, and without thinking about it, I immediately gave him my number. A few minutes later, we're on the phone till almost 5am!!! We continuously talk on the phone for about a week, until we decided to meet for an offical date/meeting. The day we were meeting, was filled with wonder and curiousity...who is the face behind the voice? Let me just say, it was more than what I bargained for! Mike showed up hiding behind these dark sunglasses, which he kept on the entire time, even though it wasn't sunny!!! I guess he was nervous. He finally took them off when it got too dark. We really enjoyed each other's company and I was always excited when I knew I we were going to hang out. We became official on March 5, 2005.
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

HOW IT HAPPENED
I knew it was going to happen, I just didn't know when. I also knew when he was going to make the purchase...which was the Friday right before my birthday. I thought he was going to get it before coming home but he wanted me to at least go with him to the mall. So, we made our drive to Stoneridge Mall and I already had butterflies in my stomach. Once we got to the mall, we separated so that he could complete the "mission". As I wandered through the mall, I couldn't help but think what was going on in the store. I was thinking I should sneak a peek, but I didn't. I would have felt guilty. Finally, he called me on my cell and when we met up again, there it was...a white bag with a little white box in it. However, he wouldn't let me see it until he gave it to me...fair enough (even though I already knew what it looked like since I picked it out).
I tried not to think about it the drive back home, but of course, he noticed I was quiet. He asked what was wrong and of course I said "nothing". After arriving home, another "mission" had to be accomplished...calling my family (mom, step-mom, brother and sister). At this point, my heart was going a mile a minute. He went outside to make the calls and was gone for about 45 minutes. While he was away, I hopped into the shower thinking it would put me at ease...it didn't. He came back with a smile and I knew that everything had gone well. Mom and step-mom cried, sister and brother said "it's about time!" But still, no proposal that night.
The next morning, along with a few of our friends, made our journey to Napa Valley to experience the Napa Valley Wine Train. Once on the train, lunch was served, but two of our friends got separated from us and could not sit with the rest of us. So the remaining four of us enjoyed the delicious beef tenderloin and scenery outside the window. After lunch, we were then moved to the lounge area toward the end of the train for dessert and coffee. After we let our food settle, we wobbled out to the cabooze (walking through the moving train was quite a task) for more scenery, yet this time it was blazing hot outside. Pictures were taken as we maneuvered our way around it. Standing in the middle of my friends and Mike, I looked straight ahead and concentrated on not falling out of the train. I don't know how I missed it, but both of my friends heard him say "you guys can be the witnesses". Then I happened to look down at him and at that moment I saw THE BOX. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him (luckily, my friends were there and got a few pictures). In between the "oh my gods", the laughter and screams, all the while still trying to maintain my balance on the wobbily train, I happily accepted. It just happened so fast that I wish I could experience it again.
