KATHERINE KERR & MATTHEW MCPHERSON SEPTEMBER 20, 2008 Newlyweds for 74 days! ABOUT KATHERINE Katherine is simply the Love of my life. She is my complete compliment. My favorite thing about her is her constant enthusiasm and positive energy. She is extremely creative in everything she does. She is graduating from James Madison University as an interior design major. Her creative diversity is apparent in the classes she has taken such as photography, ceramics, metal work, computer design and art history and her hobbies that include scrapbooking, photography and quilting. She has a brilliant mind and strives for utter perfection in all that she attempts. Her integrity and loyalty shine through her interactions with people and in the friends she has, as well as her wonderful sense of humor and highly contagious joy of living in the moment. Katherine’s is one of the strongest and most unwavering personalities I have ever met. While she aims to please everyone she can, she never changes who she is just to make things easier. She naturally pours her heart into her friends and family. I Love her completely and cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her. ABOUT MATTHEW Matt is a 2007 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and is currently stationed in California for tech school in Space and Missiles. Matt is a wonderful person to be around. He is caring, funny, and friendly. He always has a smile that will light up the room. Matt is a wonderful friend to many and he loves spending time with people. He is extremely thoughtful and shares his joys and appreciations with everyone he comes in contact with. Matt is, first and foremost, my best friend. We are able to talk for hours about anything, hang out with each other’s friends, share a new adventure together, support each other, and just be friends. My favorite thing about Matt is the way he always knows what I need, whether it is a hug, encouragement, or to be left alone. I don’t often need to use words when I am with Matt for him to understand me. I also love Matt’s passion for helping people, his family, and the Air Force. I am excited to see what adventures are in store for us, even if it means going to North Dakota, and am extremely blessed to have a wonderful man to spend the rest of my life with. HOW WE MET Matt and Katherine have known each other since 2002. They met in the hallway of Woodbridge Senior High School when Matt kicked Katherine's bookbag because it said "KEK" on the back. They got to know each other through mutal friends in school and church youth group. Matt and Katherine spent a lot of time together during the year and they started dating prom night, 4 May 2003; Katherine's junior prom and Matt's senior prom. They have remained together while Matt attended the United States Air Force Academy and Katherine attends James Madison University. Matt and Katherine look forward to sharing many more of life's adventures. WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED December 25, 2007 HOW IT HAPPENED On Christmas Matt's and Katherine's families got together for dessert. Matt was waiting to give Katherine a gift until his Mom and sister, Lauren, arrived. After opening the gifts and while the families got dessert Matt gave Katherine a Christmas card. It was three parts with a poem on the back which was read first. He tried to use the second line ("First presents then card I have given you") as the excuse for giving Katherine the card later in the evening. The poem spoke of his love and Katherine's need for patience. The last lines reads "Most all rhetoric rarely yields its true intent. For me will you kindly turn the page." Katherine turned over the last of the three sections. It covers all the words from the poem except "I have loved you since you first laid eyes on me, Katherine please will you Marry me." Katherine was very surprised, began crying, and gave Matt a huge hug. Katherine's Mom said "I think they are having a moment" and Matt's Dad said "It looks like a moment." When the families all looked over Matt got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and asked Katherine again if she would marry him. WHEN & WHERE September 20, 2008
Woodbridge, VA ABOUT THE BIG DAY Matt and Katherine will be getting married at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. The cermony will be said by Father Mark Maretti. It will be a formal, military service with a sit-down dinner and dancing following the cermony.
