Newlyweds for 423 days!
ABOUT KIRA
Kira grew up in Pennsylvania with her three younger brothers, Jason, Andrew and Ricky. She attended Penn State for a year, and then moved to California and attended Cal State. After graduating she started working for Northrop Grumman. Wanting to move back to the east coast she scouted jobs and found a job in Charlottesville Virginia working for Northrop Grumman. In April of 2006 she planted roots and bought a house. In May of 2006 she started dating the wackiest of the bunch, Roderick.
ABOUT RODERICK
Roderick was born in Maryland, and moved to Charlottesville with his family when he was 7. He has 3 younger siblings, Spencer, Tyler, and Paige. He was home schooled until college. He attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. After he graduated he got a job for SNL Financial. He joined a social group called CYP just to meet that special someone. Luckily he met Kira who is definitely "Special".
HOW WE MET
Roderick was a long time member of CYP and a fixture at almost all CYP events. He learned about CYP through his company. Kira moved to Charlottesville and didn't know a soul. One lucky night she happen to be surfing the web and came across the CYP website. She thought it looked interesting and decided to give it a try. Oddly her first event was one of the rare times that Roderick was not in attendance. Kira first met Roderick at a game night. She thought he was pretty quiet and smart. He thought she was cute, smart, and interesting. They became friends until they became more than friends. Roderick asked Kira out by email (the coward). Luckily Kira had just started dating again and thought Roderick would be a good "practice" date. Little did she know how wonderful a guy he was. One date was all it took and she was hooked. He was hooked too and now they are both suckers for each other. Sucker! :-)
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

HOW IT HAPPENED
Kira loves Josh Groban so Roderick got her tickets to his concert in Raleigh, NC. They took half the day off to drive down for the concert. They stopped at WaWa on the way (Kira's favorite sandwich spot). They got there a little early so they went to Sweet Tomatoes, a nice salad place that Kira use to go to when she was living in LA. They went to the concert which was wonderful. Roderick was waiting for an intermission that never came to propose. So once the concert was over Kira started to get up to leave. Roderick put his hand on her knee to keep her in place and said "Kira, I love you … you make me happier than I’ve ever been before … and I can’t see my life without you … Kira, will you marry me?" Kira had figured that she and Roderick were getting along so well that eventually they would get married. She thought he was going to propose on May 25th, their one year anniversary and she had her response all planned out. She is constantly telling Roderick that he is such a sucker for loving her and she was going to say "Yes ... sucker!" but she was so surprised that she said "Yes Yes ABSOLUTELY YES!" Which was a much better response. Roderick gave her the necklace that he made for her and they started hugging and kissing. Kira was jumping and giggling. They were hugging for so long that they got kicked out of the concert hall. They continued the celebration in the parking lot telling everyone they saw that they were getting married. It was the best day of both their lives.

ABOUT THE BIG DAY
The wedding will take place at St. Peter and Paul Church in Palmyra near Kira's House. A reception will be held at First Colony Vineyard.
