SARAH BAIRD & ALEX KNIGHT JUNE 16, 2007 Newlyweds for 483 days! ABOUT SARAH Sarah is originally from Fredericksburg, VA, mostly known for its Civil War history. She has a Bachelor of Music with a Minor in Education from James Madison University in the Shenendoah Valley. After college, she taught music in the public school systems of Miami-Dade County, FL and Stafford County, VA.

Seeking adventure and art, she moved to Brooklyn in 2004, and has been working in the classical music industry since her arrival. Sarah likes music, dancing, languages, and food. (Not necessarily in that order)
ABOUT ALEX Alex hails from Erie, PA, where he earned his bachelors from Gannon University and worked for radio stations Rocket 101 and Star 104. He holds a Masters in TV, Radio and Film from the Syracuse University Newhouse School. Since arriving in New York City in 2003, he's done everything from TV advertising production to shooting video for Marketwatch.com.

Alex likes boating, traveling, friends, food, and music.
HOW WE MET Sarah was looking to meet Christians in New York City, so she posted an ad on craigslist.org. She invited a group of about 6 people out one Friday night to the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) to hang out and get to know each other. Alex was one of those people.

Alex then turned around the following week and invited the same group of folks to a happy hour organized by his young adults group at church.

Within 12 hours he called Sarah and asked her out to dinner at his favorite place in Chinatown.
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED September 2, 2006 HOW IT HAPPENED Well, as soon as the gun went off, Alex was out of the gates and galloping hard toward a relationship. This spooked Sarah and left her back at the stall, neighing and kicking violently. She eventually snorted hard and began walking casually around the track. But Alex looked like he was having so much fun racing around, that after about 10 laps Sarah broke out at a breakneck pace, running so hard she actually caught up with Alex, lapped him, and left him bewildered in the middle of the track. He stood there, completely stunned, for about 1/2 a lap before easing back into a gentle trot. Friends, family, and mentors began cheering wildly from the stadium. Sarah, neck flat and hooves flying, kept running until she was about to lap Alex again. She began neighing and neighing until Alex snapped out of his trance and they both lined up neck and neck at a healthy canter. They left the track, took a walk in the rain, and Alex proposed with a lovely ring.

WHEN & WHERE June 16, 2007
Bemus Point, NY ABOUT THE BIG DAY This will be the second generation in Alex's family to be married at Lake Chautauqua (sheh-TAH-kwuh). His grandparents had a house on the lake for several decades complete with speedboat. The house was sold, but the boat remains on the lake and every Independence Day and Labor Day weekend is celebrated aboard the "Toy Knight."

Sarah got her first taste of Lake Chautauqua (literally) over the 4th of July weekend when Alex's dad, Greg, gave her her first lesson in water-skiing.

The Chautauqua Institution is an arts and religion center along the lake, with live outdoor orchestra concerts as well as lectures on faith and God.

The wedding itself will take place lakeside on the lawn of the Hotel Lenhart, a quaint Victorian hotel that has been owned and operated by the same family since its birth in 1881. It will be a semi-formal wedding, followed by a multiple course dinner and a festive reception with lots of music and lots of dancing. Guests are encouraged to make a mini-vacation out of the trip to get the most out of the area.
