My Proposal Story
I spent Saturday morning volunteering at NY Presbyterian from 10am-2pm like I usually do, and when I got back to Ken's apartment I noticed everything was quiet and dark. At first I thought he was just catching up on sleep in his usual bear hibernation ways. But when I opened the door to his room there was a sealed envelope on a desk chair turned to face the door that read "Girlfriend." I opened it up and starting scrambling to fill out the puzzle; at one point I got stuck on an answer and tried to text his brother as my "lifeline," but Ken's entire fam knew what was going on so Ryan pretended he couldn't remember the answer. I figured out enough of the puzzle to get "Central Park" and then "Central Park Castle," as in Belvedere Castle where they have Shakespeare in the Park performances. At that point I raced out the door (ravenous from not having eaten any lunch) and to Central Park where Ken was waiting. Of course there was construction going on in the Park which made my route seem twice as long. When I finally got there I looked around and saw Ken waiting in this little area tucked away and off to the side. He gave me a long- stemmed rose and joked, "Do I really need to ask?" and I said, "Uh, yea." And so I said yes and he gave me the ring we had picked out three weeks prior :)
