My Proposal Story
"CAUGHT OFF GAURD" Months leading up to our engagement was like a "Wedding frenzy" (as I called it) a few friends of mine were either getting married or just got married (The Wedding Fever) like wild fire. Howard and I always spoke about getting married as something neither of us were interested in doing anytime soon, well so i thought (Happy the way we were). We had sent our son Jhafaar away to my mom for the summer so we were basically alone for a few weeks, which time we spent getting to know each other again. Friday July 18th, 2009, we got home about 6:00 pm stopped at the gate as usual except instead of getting out Howard just sat in the car and stared at me. Howard after getting home opted for a surprise dinner invitation, may not seem strange to many but when you only go out to eat once in a while, yeah a statement like "Lets go out to eat " is unexpected, but I agreed, I dressed very casual thinking we were just gonna get some burgers or something as we ussually do with our son. We ended up going to Rodney's Arm, a quaint little restaruant nestled on a hill overlooking the sea and with a really romantic view of the city lights, beautiful view romantic setting. Strange to me as this was a first for both of us and he had been telling me he wanted to take me out to somewhere speacial for about a month before. We sat at a table directly over looking the shore with the sounds of the sea rushing up, it was beautiful and we enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner. We laughed and talked it was a little unnerving to me as Howard sat and stared most of the time but I just enjoyed the expereince. Howard took my hand into his and started talking about how long we've been together (6 1/2 years) and the experiences over the years, the near misses, our son and just how much we've grown. Been me the jovial one (at the time), I joked out most of what he was saying as I always did thinking along the same part I thought it was just the regular conversation nothing serious. When he said "WIll You Marry "me I honestly didn't take him seriously as marriage isn't one of those topics I put an interest in so I laughed. I actually told him I wasn't going anywhere so he can stop joking. I actually didn't stop laughing until he said he was serious. I'm sorry I probable made a romantic moment uncomfortable but I couldn't stop laughing even when I said Yes I was still laughing I think I laughed right up and till we got home (Yeah silly I know). But thats how We Got Engaged.
