A Nautical Summer Wedding at The Flying Bridge Restaurant in Falmouth, Massachusetts
Brittney Brenner (26 and a construction project manager) and Josh Madej (30 and director of social media and digital analytics) planned a casual Cape Cod affair with undeniable New England charm for their mid-summer nuptials in Falmouth, Mass. A nautical theme could not have been more fitting for the seaside affair, with a spectrum of navy, white, pink and green hues to bring a pop of color to the decor.
Guests were immersed in the Cape Cod experience from the moment they arrived, with Brittney and Josh providing out-of-town friends and family members to welcome kits jam-packed with treats, like all the makings for classic Cape Codder cocktails, sweets, customized koozies area maps and maps and most-know details. “I think what made the whole event so special was all the little details that fit perfectly together,” says Brittney.
The ceremony took place on a spacious deck next to the Flying Bridge Restaurant overlooking the water. “It made the transition between ceremony and cocktail hour seamless, and we couldn’t beat the view!” says Brittney. The pair exchanged vows under a canopy of fresh ivory and blush florals, and Brittney’s maid of honor officiated the event. As a nod to Josh’s work at a newspaper, the pair used a newspaper theme for the programs, giving guests the scoop on the couple, the wedding party and the schedule for the evening.
Creating a casual atmosphere for the reception was key for Brittney and Josh, which led the pair to pass on the traditional sit-down dinner. Guests were able to eat at their leisure, with dinner stations following two hours of decadent appetizers, and the lack of assigned seating meant they could mix and mingle with ease. Arrangements of hydrangeas, bells of Ireland and garden roses brought the reception tables to life, while lanterns emitted a warm, ambient glow over the intimate space.
DJ Danny kept the dance floor packed until the wee hours (with a surprise flash mob thrown into the mix) and the couple closed out the evening with a special bourbon bar designed by the father of the bride, complete with recommendations and personal reviews.
