Information for our guests
Ceremony Time: 3:00pm at Cielo Estate Winery
The ceremony will be officiated by family friend Bill Denney who has seen and guided our blended family's growth the last few years.
The ceremony location is a beautiful white gazebo on the Cielo Estate property. There will be chairs set up for family and friends to share this special moment.
Cielo Estate is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas and we can expect it to be warm that day. Please feel free to dress accordingly. The ceremony will be outdoors and our reception will be held in Cielo Estate's large, air conditioned great room with an attached outdoor deck.
I'm not going to try to help you with driving directions...the outcome could be disasterous. I'm not sure where you're coming from or what your initial destination will be...so, please google your way there. HOWEVER, make sure you print out or take screen shots of your route beause there are areas where you may not have cellular service!
There are two main ways to get to the area from the Reno/Sparks area...
1. Take I-80 West to CA HWY 49 (you'll have to transition on some surface streets through the city of Auburn should you choose this route)
This route takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and is the route we usually take.
2. Take I-580 South to US HWY 50 to Emerald Bay Rd to Ponderosa Road (the road the winery is on)
This route takes a little longer (from our house at least)...3 hours and 18 minutes.
If you are going to a hotel first, search the directions to the hotel and then directions from the hotel to the winery. If you are stuck, call us.
About Cielo Estate
From the Cielo Estate website:
Cielo Estate is a new winery on an established location on the Western Slope of the Sierra Nevada in El Dorado County. They are the closest Foothill winery and wedding destination to the Sacramento region. Originally this location was home to the Hodgkin and Spinardi families dating back to the late 1800s where the Victorian house still stands flawlessly restored and serves as a guest house and venue for small private functions. There are 17.8 acres of vineyards currently planted to Rhone and Italian varietals that also serve as a wonderful backdrop for weddings and events.
Why we chose Cielo Estate...
One of the things we have enjoyed doing as a couple is escaping over the mountains to the El Dorado and Amador County areas to go wine tasting with good friends. The various other couples we go with have been going for years and have introduced us to some wonderful wineries and people in the area. As a group, we have a rule that each weekend we go (usually two or three a year) we hit all our favorite spots and try at least one new vineyard. Even before getting engaged we would talk about how amazing it would be to get married at one of the gorgeous properties we would visit on our weekend getaways. On our most recent trip, we decided that we would finally go to the Folsom Premium Outlets (we had been talking about going the last several trips and never did). After giving us much grief for abandoning the group, our friends actually showed up at the outlets since they opened before the wineries. When they were ready to head out for more tasting, we decided to head out with them. The first stop was Cielo Estate...our "new try" for the weekend. As soon as we drove onto the property we both looked at each other and just knew. It was perfect. After an impromptu tour with the winery owner, Carrie, we were sold. We couldn't imagine a more perfect place to invite our friends and families to celebrate our marriage.
