Things To Do In The Area

Bloomington is an amazing college town filled with unique local restaurants, nightlife, and culture.  If you are not familiar with the area, please visit some of these local favorites during your time in B-town!

Breakfast:

1.       Bloomington Bagel Co - Located on Dunn and Kirkwood across from the Union.  Or, on 7th street right next to the Hilton if you are staying there.  This B-town staple has stellar bagels, coffee, and rich IU tradition.

2.       Village Deli - Located on Kirkwood across from the Union.  Huge pancakes, great location.

3.       FARM Bloomington - Located on 108 E. Kirkwood Ave.  Delicious food from local farmers.

4.       The Runcible Spoon - Located on 412 E. 6th St.  A local favorite in a rustic old house.

Lunch:

1.       Dagwoods Subs - Located on Indiana right next to the Union.  Don’t miss the Dagwoods Supreme sub.

2.       Buffa Louies - Located on Indiana right next to the Union and next to Dagwoods.  Great wings, and sports atmosphere.

3.       Scotty’s Brewhouse – Located on 7th street near the Hilton Garden Inn.  Sports environment with great wraps, beer, and sandwiches.

4.       Lennie's - Located on 1795 E. 10th St.  Gourmet pizza and calzones and next to Bloomington Brewing Company.

Dinner:

1.       Gratzie - Located on 6th street on the square in downtown Bloomington; nice Italian food.  This is where Jodi and Dan had their first date!

2.       La Charreada - Located on Walnut, north of downtown.  Jodi used to live near this Mexican restaurant and we enjoyed many evenings here.  Be sure to order a ‘tower-of-beer’ or a fishbowl margarita, a typical night-starter for us while at school.

3.       Scholars Inn - Located on College Ave. and unique to Bloomington.  This is a quaint restaurant with excellent food.

4.        Malibu Grill - Located on 106 N. Walnut St.  American cuisine.

5.        Restaurant Tallent - Located on 208 N. Walnut St.  Upscale dining.

6.        Siam House - Located on 430 E. 4th St. Thai food favorite.  Voted best Ethnic Restaurant in Bloomington!

Drinks:

1.       Just follow our bridal party… they will lead you to the best waterholes in B-town.

a.      Nicks – Near Union.  Alumni friendly, classy, and fun.

b.      Bluebird – Near Hilton.  Great for live music.

c.      Kilroys (only go to experience true undergrad life) – Next to Union.

d.      Upstairs – AMF.  ‘Nough said.

e.      Upland Brewery - Serving Indiana's best beer.

Recreation:

1.       Visit athletic centers (Alumni Hall, or Memorial Stadium) to experience the Universities rich athletic history.

2.       IU Golf Course on 45/46 is a moderately priced well kept course you can play if you are in town early.

3.       Oliver Winery on hwy 37.  The winery is roughly 10 minutes from campus, but is a beautiful outdoor location and allows you to taste wine.  Jodi also worked there for a summer during school!

4.       Indiana University Art Museum on 1133 E. 7th St. (just down the street from the Union)

5.       A walk through campus can be very relaxing and beautiful.  A walk from the union through the arboretum is particularly nice.
