Amy wanted a colorful wedding with heirlooms and handcrafted pieces mixed into the decor. Mercury Hall provided an all-white canvas, which was perfect for Amy and Greg’s rustic, country wedding. Amy included family quilts in the decorations as a fun way to inject color into the setting.

The most important part of the ceremony for Amy was a reading her grandmother did. “After many, many years of marriage she has some great advice and lessons. It was so touching,” Amy says. After the reading, the couple recited in unison the vows they’d written together.

“There are so many things you can do yourself. We wanted our money to go to the photographers and the food,” says Amy. This meant that a lot of decorative elements became DIY projects. To personalize the reception space, Amy turned to craft store finds like the pink lanterns and pom poms, which added a lot of color without costing a lot of money.

Amy & Greg in Austin, TX

There was nothing coincidental about the night Amy met Greg. Unbeknownst to Amy, it was a complete set up by mutual friends. “I thought I just happened to have a great conversation with the guy sitting next to me at a dinner party,” she says. “He offered to help me on a website I was working on, so I took him up on it, only to find out his intention was a date.” The Bride Amy Raymond, a digital media specialist The Groom Greg Cohn, a Yahoo! open platform and business strategist The Date July 18 Well, the match was a success and three years later, on a vacation to Sun Valley, Idaho, Greg proposed. The couple decided on Austin, Amy’s hometown for their summer nuptials.
