“I wanted the bridesmaids to choose something that they would wear again. I was not at all picky, other than showing them the color palette.” Amy says. Two girls ended up ordering dresses from J. Crew, and the third wore a vintage dress she already owned.

Ceremony programs were one of the many DIY elements of Amy and Greg’s wedding. They were made out of hand fans (so that guests could stay cool in the sweltering heat), which Amy printed herself.

Amy wanted a colorful wedding with heirlooms and handcrafted pieces mixed into the decor. Mercury Hall provided an all-white canvas, which was perfect for Amy and Greg’s rustic, country wedding. Amy included family quilts in the decorations as a fun way to inject color into the setting.

The most important part of the ceremony for Amy was a reading her grandmother did. “After many, many years of marriage she has some great advice and lessons. It was so touching,” Amy says. After the reading, the couple recited in unison the vows they’d written together.

After the ceremony, guests made their way into the converted church, which was decorated with family heirlooms, where the reception took place.

For rustic flare, Amy collected vintage napkins and used them to decorate each place setting.

“There are so many things you can do yourself. We wanted our money to go to the photographers and the food,” says Amy. This meant that a lot of decorative elements became DIY projects. To personalize the reception space, Amy turned to craft store finds like the pink lanterns and pom poms, which added a lot of color without costing a lot of money.

Amy wanted the flowers to be “colorful and messy.” The centerpieces, which were created by one of Amy’s good friends, were a mix of flowers in hues that complemented the quilts.

There was nothing coincidental about the night Amy met Greg. Unbeknownst to Amy, it was a complete set up by mutual friends. “I thought I just happened to have a great conversation with the guy sitting next to me at a dinner party,” she says. “He offered to help me on a website I was working on, so I took him up on it, only to find out his intention was a date.” The Bride Amy Raymond, a digital media specialist The Groom Greg Cohn, a Yahoo! open platform and business strategist The Date July 18 Well, the match was a success and three years later, on a vacation to Sun Valley, Idaho, Greg proposed.
