“Do your homework,” says Beahm. Courtney and her planner, Jodi Moraru, came to Beahm with a cache of inspirational images. Providing visual references about what you like and don’t like helps your designer make your celebration a reflection of you—even if you can’t quite verbalize what’s in your mind’s eye.

Courtney wanted a storybook wedding—but with a twist. Beahm helped guide her to create a sophisticated affair that was dream-worthy but not overwhelmingly opulent. “The term ‘fairy tale’ can be tricky,” Beahm cautions. “It can go down a road of completely over-the-top fluff.”

Courtney & Matthew in New York City

was in the air—and on the mind of designer David Beahm—for this March wedding. The event designer brought the outdoors in with blossoming cherry branches for the ceremony and lush, feminine arrangements to soften the glamorous reception. Bridesmaids looked like springtime nymphs in Grecian-inspired Monique Lhuillier dresses, and even the cake bowed to the season with a flurry of fresh flowers.

The wedding’s crystal and gold palette was present throughout the design, from The Pierre’s chandeliers to the 18k-gold-dipped vases on the tables. The golden touch extended to even the smallest details, including the escort cards, programs and table numbers, all of which featured gilded elements.
