Amy and Doug didn't want to use a lot of excess paper, so to keep their reception elements rustic and green they hung the seating arrangements from an old wooden board.

Amy used vintage vases and bottles that she had collected to complement the rustic look of the saloon. Organic-looking arrangements of succulents, hydrangeas, dahlias, delphinium, tulips, and Queen Anne’s lace filled each vase.

The all-white cake with buttercream beading sat atop a stump removed from the couple’s yard. Fresh sunflowers and Amy's favorite succulents topped the confection.

As a nod to Doug's home state of Kansas, the couple gave out packets of sunflower seeds (the state flower) that said "Plant one on us."  The used a silhouette of themselves kissing to get their clever message across.

If Amy and Doug didn’t believe in fate before, they do now! Amy’s sister lived in Iowa and kept asking her to come for a visit and meet Doug -- a “nice, single guy” who lived in Ames. Amy thought it was a plot to get her to move there, so she avoided the set-up. Two years later, while her family was visiting her in Denver, they ran into Doug at the grocery store! He had moved to Colorado and even lived in the same neighborhood. Doug got Amy’s email address and asked her out. The Bride Amy Bergan, 33, an instructor and psychotherapist The Groom Doug Yetman, 40, a director of communications The Date June 27 He must have made quite an impression, because 11 months later she accepted his marriage proposal during a morning hike through the mountains.
