Lauren carried a bouquet of fiddlehead ferns, succulents, and deep-purple calla lilies for a soft, natural look. The ferns were what she’d specifically wanted, but she ended up liking the succulents most!

Lauren and Andy got married in a formal church that had lots of rules about decorations, which limited how much they could bring to the ceremony. But the tall candles that lined the ceremony aisle were enough to make the space.

Instead of escort cards, Lauren and Andy went with a seating chart that matched their invitations. It carried the theme of the tree and a fence to keep the country vibe, and they displayed it in a wooden frame.

In memory of Andrew’s late sister and in lieu of favors, the couple donated to two charities: Children’s Leukemia Foundation of Michigan and Camp Casey. They let guests know by setting cards at their places.

Lauren & Andrew in Bloomfield Hills, MI

Lauren says she met Andrew in the fifth grade at a school concert, but Andy swears they didn’t meet until seventh grade. Either way, they dated for three months in high school, split up, and then reconnected their freshman year of college. After three and a half years of “grown-up love” (as Andy likes to call it), the two were staying at Andy's parents' house in Northern Michigan to ring in the New Year. The Bride Lauren Maiman, 25, a public relations consultant The Groom Andrew MacKellar, 25, an operations coordinator The Date July 11 After a day of exploring the area, Andy proposed back at the house, in front of a crackling fire. Lauren wanted a summer wedding, so instead of rushing, she and Andy gave themselves a whole 18 months to plan their day at the Oakland Hills Country Club, where Lauren had always imagined getting married.
