Lizzy and Howard, both competitive inline speed skaters, met at a race in 1999 but didn’t start dating until they were living in California five years later; Lizzy in Los Angeles and Howard in San Diego. About three years after that, Howard proposed -- in the middle of a race!
The Bride Lizzy Loeb, 35, an architect
The Groom Howard Yeh, 36, an electrical engineer
The Date June 18
It was the Silver Strand Half Marathon, and as Lizzy was approaching a U-turn (about 10 miles into the course), Howard, who had sped ahead of her, was standing there with a sign that read, “Will you marry me?” Howard had helped the race organizer set up signs on the course the day before -- and made an extra one. The couple planned their beach wedding in less than eight months, working with a bright and fun palette of pink, green, and a little bit of orange.
