Richard and his three groomsmen all wore black tuxes with a notched collar, a deep grey tie, and suspenders instead of vests. Ranunculus and rose blooms popped from their lapels.

After a lot of dress shopping, Sylvia found a gown she loved for its unique quality. The A-line dress featured an organza overlay, a draped-tulle bodice and a dropped waist back. But what really won her over was the layer of charcoal gray tulle that was under the top layer of the dress.

Sylvia grew up attending the church the couple selected for their ceremony. They loved the sanctuary’s large windows and natural beauty so they added very few decorations of their own.

The couple made their own escort cards using a floral stamp and cardstock. Sylvia wrote guests’ names on the cards.

The couple loved the character of the Commander’s Mansion, and also that there was an outdoor space perfect for a tent reception just steps from the building (although Sylvia had a few nightmares about rain!).

Fresh peonies, French tulips, and garden roses graced half the tables, while the other half had pillar candles surrounded by garden roses.

Sylvia and Richard met at an engagement party for their best friends, who then tried to get them together. (Their friends succeeded!)
