Alison and Joe’s three-tiered cake was covered in ivory buttercream and piped with chocolate brown pearls around each tier. The thicker middle tier was accented with a chocolate plaque with the couple’s monogram.

Since most of their guests were from out of town, Alison and Joe gave out sterling silver luggage tags with a personalized thank-you note from the couple.

Alison and Joe had known each other for years, but nothing came of their relationship until one Thanksgiving when Joe came home from his tour in Iraq for a 15-day visit. The pair spent the entire time together, and two days after Joe returned to Iraq, he sent Alison an email professing his love.
