Eagen wanted low-key centerpieces that worked with their urban loft space, so her sister, aunts, mom, and bridesmaids helped pull together the tabletop decor, which consisted of potted plants, rainbow lollipops, hurricane vases, paper lanterns, and candles.

The eco-friendly centerpieces were a labor of love: A week before the wedding, Eagen, her mom, sister, aunts, and bridesmaids bought flats of flowers and plants including yellow violas, snapdragons, dusty miller, ferns, and potting soil. Then they spent an afternoon planting the flowers into tin cans and tying raffia around each one.

Running with the Wizard of Oz theme, Eagen and Jason named their tables after details from the movie, like “Flying Monkeys,” “Auntie Em,” and “Ruby Slippers.”

Instead of paper, Eagen and Jason used miniature rainbow lollipops as escort cards. They stuck them into grass sod planters so that they looked like they were growing out of the grass. Family members took turns writing names so that the font looked fun and casual.

The couple met through a mutual friend in New York (where they live). The Bride Eagen Halter, 29 and a paralegal The Groom Jason Kane, 30 and works in finance The Date April 17 Although she swears it wasn’t her original intention to go there, Eagen and Jason’s wedding ended up playing off of The Wizard of Oz in a big way -- with an Emerald City green, brick road yellow, and Tin Man silver color scheme.
