The couple’s planner wrapped a thick pink ribbon around a tree and clipped the escort cards with wooden clothespins. Amy and John printed the cards themselves with supplies from Paper Source.

Amy and John named each table after different wine-related terms and included their dictionary definitions and pronunciation keys on the cards. Striving to capture the colors of fall in Sonoma, they worked with a brown and pink color palette.

The couple created a signature logo that appeared on much of their wedding stationery, like the pink menu cards.

Amy and John filled mason jars with tiny rocks, put a candle inside each one, and decorated them with pink ribbon and cards with their wedding logo. They placed them on all the reception tables.

More than 10 types of wine and champagne (plus eight types of beer) were served at the reception. The couple printed labels personalized with their logo for the bottles.

Amy and John danced to “Hold You in My Arms” by Ray LaMontagne, the first artist they saw in concert together. (John bought Amy tickets as a graduation present.)

Amy and John met on the steps of the Capitol building in Washington, DC, during a group photo (they were part of the same internship program through the University of California San Diego). Within the next few weeks, they started dating and made their relationship official soon after they returned to San Diego. The Bride Amy Neilan, 26, an attorney The Groom John Hargreaves, 28, a research and planning analyst The Date October 3 Almost three years later, while Amy and John were visiting John’s brother in New York City, they went to dinner at Perilla, owned by season one winner of Top Chef, Harold Dieterle. (They are foodies and fans of the show.) After a delicious meal, Amy argued with John to let her split the cost with him. She saw him put something in the little black folder, but she opened it to make sure he had included her card. Instead of finding plastic, she saw an engagement ring and John knelt down and proposed.
